We really enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Avanti's. Even amidst the Covid challenges, the staff and our server were great and accommodating. Sadly we are just passing through Erie PA We had bacon, sausage, eggs and toast which was all good and prepared as ordered. Our oatmeal lover said the huge bowl of oatmeal was luxurious. This is one of those hidden gems. We looked up Avanti's on Yelp and are very glad we went there. Hubby had something called a breakfast monster bowl. I wouldn't have called it "monster", it wasn't all that big but it was good. The wife had a chicken breast on iceberg lettuce. Nice little diner. Worth the find. read more

We like to come up to Erie from Pittsburgh for an occasional getaway - it's only a 2-hr drive for us & Presque Isle State Park is incredible. This place was quite the find! My friend and I headed down to Erie Pa for Roar on the Shore and found this great place for breakfast. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the owner who was very busy yet found us a great table. I ordered eggs Benedict with hash browns and my friend ordered the corned beef hash and eggs. I order eggs Benedict all the time and I can say this was one of the best I've ever had. The hash browns were crisp and tasty too. My friend loved her corned beef too. Was very disappointed in my breakfast. I ordered the potato pancakes, after I ordered I was speaking with the manage/ owner and asked, are they homemade, his replay NO frozen ...Sadness came over me. They were deep fried greasy pancakes. The sausage Patty was very salty. The eggs were cooked perfectly... The service was good considering how busy they were... I don't understand why they would put a special of potato pancakes and not make them from scratch.. Since there pretty easy to make... Tried Avanti's after hearing several people rave about it. Gotta say I was not that impressed. Was told that there were a bunch of vegitarian options. When I asked the waitress about these options I was told that they had onion soup and a house salad. Oh and bruchetta. The bf had the tenderloin scampi for $25 and only ate half. Wasn't impressed either. On a brighter note we brought our own bottle of wine which they were more than happy to cork for us with no fee. Staff were friendly and prompt as well. read more

Avanti's is a diner with diner style food. Their breakfast is ok but again diner food. The dinner service is a diner with tablecloths added for 'special' effect. Out meal there was mediocre at best. We had the pleasure of sitting in a booth next to the kitchen that also had the dirty dish bins located directly behind our booth so we had dishes slammed into the back of our booth the entire time we were there. The food was just average and most felt as if it had been delivered by the local frozen food service curtze. Our kids were served 20 minutes before us and when our dinners were then served--we were inhaling the bits we did eat to get out as the kids were ready to go. read more

This was not our first visit, but I fear it was our last. Went for dinner with my husband and daughter. She ordered the lobster ravioli, and they were out (Friday night, not Saturday, so I guess everyone was out of luck the whole weekend?). I ordered the pork shank. Husband had lasagna (which, in fairness to the restaurant, was good). My pork shank came out later than the rest of the meal and IT WAS STILL FROZEN INSIDE. How can a restaurant let a piece of frozen pork be served to a customer???? And the worst part was that I think they knew it might be. When it was served to me, the waiter said, "Let me know if it's not cooked right or if it's cold," Really??? They need to buy a thermometer and cook the meat before serving it. I've been to the old Avanti's a thousand times for breakfast, but I hadn't been there for a few years when I heard they were under new ownership & they had taken their menu up a classy notch or two. My first impression: New paint & new curtains, the place looks fresh on the outside. Inside: They didn't remodel?!?! The inside looks exactly the same as the outdated breakfast diner I remember. It's dark & dank and the glass doored coolers just behind the counter that once displayed slices of pie now sit empty. The menu: I was a little put off by the prices (because of the atmosphere)... but once the food started coming, everything was EXCELLENT. We had the crab-cocktail. It was a bit unusual, but it was good. I had the tortellini topped with a cooked medley of veggies in chunks. It was just plain excellent. It was fresh & flavorful. My date had the tortellini topped with a sausage & pea medley that had other veggies as well. Also fantastic. The portions were generous and the food was really delicious. The quality and the prices are fine Italian dining, but the atmosphere absolutely is not. My hope is that they'll remodel once they establish themselves. Service was friendly but it did take a while to get our food (thus a 4 rating). My son had the burger and said it was moist and flavorful. He and my husband loved the coffee! I live on the opposite side of town from Avanti,s, however I was over that way and decided to stop in. After all or most of the reviews I was not impressed. Service was okay at best and I had an italian breakfast that was garbage reheated. There were plenty of frozen home fires and probably 2 eggs scrambled and a mix of a few and I mean few pieces of onion, green pepper and a modicum of sausage. The rye bread was the best part of the breakfast and in the end cost me $11.00 dollars . Probably wont be back. read more

After hearing good things, I felt we should try Avanti's. We ordered two burgers (cheeseburger and mushroom-onion-Swiss), fries, zucchini, waters, a chocolate milk and a breakfast. The food was delivered quickly which was great. The breakfast portion was large (eggs, toast, pancake, bacon, sausage, hash browns). The burgers were "McD size" and nothing special. There were 6 small zucchini sticks which were all breading. The fries were cold and basic frozen fries. The waitress never came to check on us until we requested the bill. The bill was $32 because everything was up-charged! I honestly could have gotten a better meal at McDonalds for 1/2 the price! I love to support local businesses but I won't ever be back here. read more
