Avalon delivers very good manicures and pedicures for the most competitive price I've seen in the area. Some places will charge extra for exfoliation and callus remover. Um...what is a pedicure for if those services aren't included?? The pedicures include a menthol exfoliant and hot towels. The manicures include hot towels as well. I came here a couple of weeks ago for a MUCH needed mani/pedi. I don't have a regular place that I go to in Howard County so I did some research and decided to give this place a shot. It wasn't bad, but I don't think this is my new HoCo nail spot.... I walked in and had a very brief wait, which I was happy about. They had a good selection of polishes and I found exactly what I was looking for. Then they called me to the back for my pedicure. I sat in the chair and waited. And waited some more. Then a woman came over and turned the water on, but it was cold. Probably 7 or 8 minutes later I was able to flag someone down to change the temperature of the water. Another 7 or 8 minutes after that someone finally came over to start the pedicure. It was so aggravating! If they weren't ready for me then I would have much preferred to sit out on the sofa and wait than to have an unattended ice bucket for my feet. Also the space with the pedicure chairs is really tight. When someone wanted to walk to the room in the back (presumably for waxing) they really had to squeeze by. And twice during my time sitting there someone walked in on someone else in the bathroom (which was right in front of me). Overall very awkward. My manicure and pedicure were actually pretty good. The polish (not gel) stayed on my fingernails for over a week which is not the norm. And my cuticles looked nice. It's a shame that the rest of the experience was just too much to overlook. read more

Not a bad choice to get your nails done quickly and cheaply. My pedicure only cost $22. Their pedicure isn't very luxurious (I thought their pumice "stone" was unusually rough), but they get the job done. It's been three weeks and my toe nails haven't chipped at all -- probably a record for me! They take walk-ins and were apologetic about the wait. One reason I may not go back? I was sitting in the chair afterwards letting my nails dry when I noticed the flat screen on the wall was smoking! I hightailed it out of there after letting them know. I'm sure that's not a normal occurrence, but it was unsettling nonetheless. read more

This was my first (and last) visit to this salon. I made an appointment for a manicure but still had to wait about 15 minutes. The salon seems very slow and they have no problem to keep clients waiting long past their appointment times I was shocked when I walked in to find a puppy running around. My first thought was that the puppy must belong to a client but it actually belonged to a nail technician. My manicurist was more concerned with her puppy than my nails. She would touch her dog and then go back to touching my nails, without washing her hands. At one point she had the puppy sitting in her lap while trying to paint my nails. I had to ask her to repeatedly touch up one nail that she kept missing a spot on. I felt as though she was taking an attitude with my request. This place could use a good scrub down. It was cluttered and not inviting. Not the environment I want to get a pedicure and manicure. I can't comment on the service because I don't allow places to service me if they appear dirty. Just 10 minutes in here and I wanted to go home and freshen up. I am so disappointed with my gloppy, sloppy gel manicure. I had to go to another salon to get it fixed. I should have asked for Tran as recommended. Avalon Nails does a cheap mani but it's not worth blobs of polish, rough edges, and uneven lengths. Plus, the salon needs a serious facelift and a storage room. There's a lot of visible wear in the place and it all feels very dirty and disorganized. Not relaxing or reassuring. Many of the polishes are old and not fresh. If you want a more expensive but perfect mani in an ultra tidy and clean facility, go to River Hill Nails in Clarksville. read more

My mom, sister and I have been going to Avalon Nails for years because they always do a fabulous job. All the ladies that work there are very sweet and will take care of you. I feel a part of the Avalon family. We even celebrate birthdays here! I always get the gel polish now because it lasts so long (sometimes up to a month!). They have tons of colors it's hard to choose sometimes! And they're always getting new seasonal colors in to try. I also get my eyebrows done here and am consistently happy with it. Another thing: they accept walk-ins but I would suggest calling ahead and asking when the best time is, especially around holidays, prom/homecoming, etc, because it can get very busy at times. I would definitely recommend going to Avalon! Any of the girls there will do a great job for you, I have tried them all =) read more

went to this salon this past weekend and was very pleased. They massage your legs forever and it feels great! My manicure was a regular manicure - It has been 3 days now and my nails still look good - no chipping yet. Prices are very reasonable compared to other shops in the area. This place is not noticeable, thanks to the shopping center owner. The name of the shop is not over the actual shop so you have to go looking for it. I have been here three times now to have my nails done. My daughter also came and had her nails done. The service is excellent. If you have an appointment they take you right away and if you don't you are welcome to sit and wait for the next available technician. I have had three different techs and they've all been good. At work I chipped one of my nails (totally my fault) and went in to have it redone. They wouldn't let me pay for it. The technician didn't even want to take a tip from me (but I left it anyway). At first I thought that the technician was rushing, but she just did things differently than Im used to having them done. My toes look good and the price was right! My sister and I went to them because they were close to our house and seemed to have good reviews. The lady who did mine BARELY filed my nails and kept pushing my hand to where she went wanted to post it instead of nicely putting it. She also painted outside my nails and then went and fixed it, but it still left redness around my nails. She rushed through the entire manicure. I found her rude. I will say that I have been to this salon five or six times for a gel mani. Victoria does a beautiful job. However, my last experience was a nightmare as I was scalded by hot water in the pedicure bowl. My appointment was a bit delayed as Victoria was finishing another pedicure so she asked me to soak a bit prior to her starting my pedicure. I complied as she specifically told me my water was ready. I stuck one foot in and never have I had pain so intense. It caused me to drop my full latte. She did apologize for not checking the water temperature. However, no word on reimbursing me for the ruined latte which ended up in the pedicure bowl. I was unable to have a full pedicure as my foot was so sensitive and in pain. I was charged the full amount. I was very disappointed in the "not handling" the obvious and not offering to reimburse me for my latte and charging me full price for a pedi that really was only done on one foot. I will not be visiting them again. I am writing this review under my husband's account as I am so embarrassed that this even occurred. read more

I recently started getting my nails done at Avalon, based on the recommendation of a friend. WOW!! Tran, the owner of the shop, provides impeccable service and does amazing nails. I've only been to this salon three times. Today being the third. The second was Jan 2012. I walked in and Tran said "Hello, Lisa"! I couldn't believe it. Julie was a lifesaver. She spent an hour fixing a really bad solar nail job done by my previous manicurist. I had mold, lifting, too dark of a pink. She meticulously fixed, clipped, cleaned and filed each nail to remove the inch think acrylic left before. She then fixed every nail to perfection. Perfect White Tips with the Proper Pink acrylic. She then did an fabulous job waxing my eyebrows - which hadn't been done in months!!!! I'll never go anywhere else. OH, and they only charged me the "fill in" price even though it was clearly a new job! read more
