Found in the heart of Optimist Park, Ava makes available a potentially great pizza experience complimenting the unique, food truck-esque experience of Optimist Park but it just didn't provide enough of a wow factor as found with their neighbors.
My family ordered a small (about the size of a standard plate) margarita pizza, add pepperoni, a coke and a San Pellegrino. The total cost for that was just under $24. I was shocked by the price but quickly found out that the other restaurants are a little pricey too. I was more shocked by the price once we ate the pizza. The pepperoni on the pizza looked pretty dismal. I've been to other Neapolitan style pizza restaurants, to include Naples, and this was the first I've seen serve the small circles of pepperoni. I think it took away from the pizza and made it look cheap. The flavor of the pizza was good, the crust was slightly undercooked (tasted pretty doughy).
Given the size and the price I would be hard pressed to return. Service was good and the place was quick and clean but there just wasn't enough there to stand out or to justify the costs. read more
