I came in here with my brother looking for an air filter for mom's car. I figured I could take out the old one, which desperately needed replaced and put a new one in myself. So we picked one up here. Not a major thing. When we walked in here, there was an older heavy man sitting behind the counter. He didn't exactly greet us while we were here. My brother was the one to start the conversation. This older guy just sat behind the counter, arms crossed, looking bored and annoyed. He didn't look too thrilled that he needed to look up the part number to find the appropriate air filter. I know, we're horrible people for making an employee do their job. It's ridiculous that people come into a parts store and actually need parts that you have to find. It's just rude. This was seriously the attitude he had. We finally find the right one, and pay for it, so we could be on our way. Would I return here? No, Kenect's is right down the street, just a few blocks from here. I'd recommend going there instead. They tested my battery and sold me a new one even though the corrosion on my battery terminals was the real problem! And after I had specifically asked if the corrosion build-up on there could be an issue (and was reassured that it shouldn't be by the employee replacing my battery). I made a service appointment online on Sunday night for Monday morning. Pulled in and was greeted by Rene. I was stressed and pretty frazzled. He got me checked in. I waited in their waiting room which had plenty of comfortable seats. I made myself a cup of tea from their well stocked coffee bar and settled in. The good news was that problem was fixed with a software update and they even charged my car. Rene was super sweet and walked me to my car to make sure everything was ok.

Transmission issues resolved!…read more While driving from Seattle to Los Angeles, our 2016 Forester's Check Engine and ATL Oil Temp lights came on. After getting towed 70 miles back to Kendall Subaru, the problem was diagnosed (along with a thorough overview of some other, less critical issues) on Saturday. The tech stayed late, and came in early on Monday to get us back on the road. I rented one of Kendall's cars for use while ours was in the shop, so we got to enjoy Eugene's restaurants and nearby hiking trails. Dylan, the service writer, was clear and concise on the issue, accepted my deferral of the other issues, and kept me up to date on progress. Nice! Costs for the transmission repair came out precisely on estimate. The diagnostic cost was folded in to the overall charge. While wandering around the showroom, Matt came out, recognized that I had a car being serviced, and showed me a 2025 hybrid Forester - snazzy! Matt was patient, explained Kendall's sales process, and took me out on a test drive. Calm, professional, informative. If we were to contemplate a new car purchase, we'd seriously consider buying from Matt at Kendall, flying up, spending a nice weekend, and driving back.

Took it back and they charged me $955 and it lasted till the following spring. Went in this July and they wanted $3250 to fix it. I seemed to have 3 parts that needed to be changed. Cost for parts $125 off the street. They said that they could sharpen there pencil and do it for $2550. I smell a rat here. Needless to say they are not the A/C specialists they are supposed to be. I'm new to the PNW, so color me surprised when I turned on my outside car's heater and got hit with…read morethe distinct scent of zoo and port-a-potty. Yup. Rats had moved in. This being a time-sensitive matter, as rats could end up chewing through wires the longer they live in your engine compartment, Sun Automotive thankfully made space for my poor car the same day I called. They kept my car for 3 days and were able to work it in around other customers. They found the nest in my heater box and removed it and sanitized everything and changed the air filter where the rats had started another nest. After all of that, they sprayed herbal rat repellent and sent me on my way. They're pretty expensive, the rat repellent they sprayed was about $140, but they do good work, communicate updates well, and they worked me in same-day when other mechanics I called quoted me a whole week out. Overall, I'm very pleased that they were able to get the rats out before any more damage could occur. My car is now safely in a garage, so this will hopefully never happen again. I plan to return to Sun Automotive for regular maintenance.

You might see some positive reviews and that's only because the people that are writing them still don't know they got ripped off. I arrived in Eugene OR five years ago and the engine light went on in my SUV. I happen to be near an auto parts store and knew they had some testing device. They said they I needed some part replaced, I don't remember what it was called now, but it was $200 and easy to install. I didn't buy it then but went to Sun Automotive on Rustic Pl., to get an estimate to fix it. they looked me in the face and said it was gonna cost $900. I told him how the auto parts store said it would only cost $200 for the part and that would be easy to install. but Sun Automotive said the auto parts store didn't know what they were talking about and to replace it would be very difficult to get to. I suspected a rip off and went to a different auto repair company down the road. Not only did they tell me it was easy to replace that part, but when they checked out the car, the only thing that was wrong was that the gas cap was loose. I'm telling you folks and I have nothing to gain for making this up. These are conniving thieves. BUYER BEWARE !
