Good service. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Also, they're kind enough to loan you basic tools, if needed.

I was very happy when I entered the store to see an employee sanitizing all the check out stands.

When I stopped in at Wayne's he was extremely busy too, but he was friendly and took the time to make sure I had all my questions answered. He even answered a couple of my calls after-hours when I came up with more questions. It was painfully obvious that I know very little about cars, but Wayne was very helpful and answered everything without any hint of condescension. Whereas most mechanics I've been to tend to say, "Well, that part does [insert unintelligible mechanic-language here]." Since I have no idea how much most parts tend to cost, I went to Google to compare his estimate with prices I could find. Turns out, he's actually quite reasonable! Another thumbs up for Wayne. I went back in a couple of days later to see how things were going on my vehicle. (There were multiple jobs ahead of mine, and due to safety concerns with the car, I just left it at Wayne's.) Wayne and I started talking, turns out he's a really cool, honest guy. There were several things I wanted to have done where he would say, "I could do that for you, but I don't really do a lot of that here. [Insert Name] down the street could do that for less and probably do a better job." What? I don't think I've ever heard a mechanic say that. Last I checked, most people would go ahead and do the requested task without saying "So-and-so down the street would do that for less." Fantastic service!

I was working on the other side of the country or I would have at least inspected things myself. They charged her a large sum to replace all the shocks on the car. The clunking that the car always had (over every bump) since the repair was due to the strut top nut being loose. That's why it's important to not just use the impact and hope the nut is all the way down, you'll want to counter hold the strut shaft with the allen in the middle. (In other words, the new shocks were not installed properly) They also replaced the serp belt, and within a few months, it shredded itself on the highway, leaving my girl stranded. I didn't get my hands on it myself, but we put a new belt on it and it has run fine for another three years. (In other words, it was not properly installed or something worse) We had an issue with the car overheating and not making enough power to drive up large highway hills. That was tracked down to the incorrect spark plugs being installed. I only have this one experience, but there were obvious things that were not done properly. It's too bad, because her mom trusted this shop due to one employee attending the same church that she did. At best, they are not competent. At worst, ....

I called several shops but they could not get to me for over a week. When I called Marshall's Auto Repair, I explained my situation to them. I was not expecting priority treatment being from out of town. The owner, and his son, were AWESOME! They got my car in, confirmed my suspicion that it was a fuel pump, and repaired it. They were kind, sympathetic, professional, personal, and fair-priced. Seriously, if I lived in this area, I would NEVER go anywhere else. They are my new heroes! 10 Stars from me! The state insists that you take it to an approved repair shop and have it pass brake and lights , etc. They told me it would be $350. My windshield needed repair and they failed my car because of it. (FYI, that could have informed immediately it couldn't pass unless the windshield was replaced) After returning to pick up my car. And getting the failed paperwork . They said that they could have my windshield repaired so it would pass. ( They charged me $400 plus tax) I made the appointment to have them fix the windshield. Again I brought my car in and waited. Once the windshield repair guy arrived he immediately declined to fix my windshield because it was too complicated. They then told me they would find another windshield repairman to my car. I waited two days no call. I then went to pacific in Arcata. Had my windshield repaired. Returned to Johnson's and they said it would be another $400. Because they would have to recheck everything. Of course I wasn't going to pay them another $400. I drove a block to Broadway and stopped at Broadway Automotive. They would only charge $250. I just believe in good customer service. I would never suggest anyone ever going to Johnson's auto for anything.
