Rodrigo installed a used engine into our 2012 Toyota van, instead of us buying a new expensive van. The van is running like a dream now! He has done numerous other jobs on my 2012 Toyota Corolla, including brake jobs, ball joint replacement, new alternator, and of course, routine oil changes. He keeps both of our "old cars" running smoothly. We have never had problems with the work he has done and he charges a very fair price! He is honest and certified, and very knowledgeable! I moved to Lincoln Square in 2015 and unfortunately had to visit Auto Workshop roughly 7-10 times. I bought a lemon BMW 3 series that was a nightmare. Rodrigo is down to earth and I would trust him with my life. At one point my windows would go down for no reason whenever I turned my car off. I took it into Rodrigo and he said that some condensation had gotten into my doors causing electrical problems. He used a hair dryer to dry out the compartment and the problem was fixed. He did this for ZERO DOLLARS. Imagine what it would cost elsewhere. I am sure that other businesses would go on about electrical component failures and charge me thousands of dollars. This is one of the many reasons I know he is a straight shooter and had no qualms when hefty costs came at other times. So I got my car back from the original problem (steering shaft needed to be replaced) and it ended up being a few hundred dollars less! Fast-Forwarding a week later... my starter started giving out :-( Obviously there is a limited life on those things, although they should last a long time (which my car is a 2003 Toyota Camry with 83K) but I believe it was due anyhow as my car is 11'ish years old now. Rodrigo was able to fix it for me Same-Day (all dropped up and picked up today). I did drop a lot of money by the end of this, but again I saved more money than going to the other places. I only wish I could give more stars. My car broke down a few blocks away from this shop. Alternator went out on me and car was undrivable. They helped me get it to the shop and assured me they would get a new alternator in same day at a reasonable price. It took some doing and true to his word he got it in for the price he quoted. He even continued working after hours because I told him how important it was for me to have it fixed ASAP. That one man is named Rodrigo and he is an expert mechanic, whose gentle nature and honest work ethic makes going to his shop a no-brainer. Rodrigo is awesome! From the first call to set up the appointment till we got in our car and drove away, we felt confident with his work. As a women, previous experience with mechanics have been a little condescending to the point of not even addressing me when my husband was in the room, not with Rodrigo. He spoke directly with me and when he told me price and time he delivered. I was offered a look at the old parts to show what was the problem and told what was needed in the future. Finally found a local mechanic who didn't leave me feeling scared about final price and repair. Right price, and great service. This place was horrible, I never plan to return to this shop. I took my car there on a Wednesday after I failed my emissions test for a simple diagnostic but they said they couldn't take me til Friday which was fine with me as long as I could pick it up Saturday which they assured me I could. I took it in Friday morning around 10 and asked again if I'd either be able to get it before 3pm that day or on Saturday since I work at 4pm, he said depending on what's needed I'll be able to pick it up the same day but probably not until Saturday, again I was fine with that. I get a call around 530 from rodrigo saying he couldn't figure out what's wrong and if I could pick up my car today, I told him I was already at work and asked if I could pick it up tomorrow like we discussed but he said that no one would be in the shop Saturday.. that was the first wtf. He called me back 5mins later and told me if I could be there between 9-10am someone would be there to give me my keys. I get there Saturday morning at 930 and the shop is completely locked up. I don't have his personal number only the one to the shop but I'm calling it anyways, no surprise but no one answered. I stayed there until about 11 hoping someone was just running late but no one ever showed up so my car was sitting outside all weekend with expired plates. I go back Monday morning to pick up my car. I asked rodrigo what happened Saturday and he said I never showed up and when I said I was there from 930-11 he said he must have left by then... I didn't care enough to argue I just wanted my car and to go. I got my keys and tried to unlock my car, the fob not responding at all so I open it manually with the key and try to turn on the car and it didn't respond at all. Btw I have a 2007 bmw 328xi where the fob goes into the slot.. I go back inside and tell him what's happening and he said he didn't know what was wrong. After he inspected a bit he found it was the battery and saying that it was nothing wrong done by the shop, even though my car was running before and starting with no problem before taking it to his shop and now the battery was 100% dead. His own employee even said to me a few times it was fine Friday which I already knew. So I had to walk all the way to autozone and pay $200 to buy a new battery which I should have made him pay for. He then installed the battery, and even though he claims to work on foreign cars didn't know that he had to register a new battery with the bmw system, and since he didn't do that nothing on my dash worked, not the odometer not the turn signal not the gas meter, nothing. I then had to take it to another shop and spend another $200 to get it diagnosed and fixed.. all in all I went for a diagnostic and ended up with a dead car and $400 short without ever getting the original problem solved or even diagnosed as to why my car failed the emission test.
