How do you know you've found a great shop for basic maintenance? When they don't try to sell you a new cabin air filter because yours is "dirty". I did my oil change at two other shops in the DC area, and each tried to claim that I needed a new cabin filter. Bull crap. Autostop didn't. Tells you all you need to know. Their prices for a regular oil change and tire rotation were fair and straightforward. Dropped off the car in the morning, and picked it up after work. Will be coming back read more

Total scam. First of all, they charge 130$ to even look at your car and "diagnose the problem". And then they came up with 2,000$ worth of problems that had to be fixed. My engine was overheating and something was leaking, so in the 20 minute span that they looked at the car, they decided that they wanted to replace my water pump, replace my thermometer, clean the belt, wash out the coolant cycliner and do an oil change. They were going to charge me 2,000 for all of that. They didn't even mention to me that my cars water pump was covered under warranty by the Chevy dealership, but they were going to charge me 700$+ to replace it. I ended up paying the 130$, and leaving to a different auto shop. It ended up being solely a thermometer issue and I was not even charged 1/4 of what auto stop wanted to charge me. read more

Auto Stop is truly amazing. I have always trusted them with my cars. Most recently, I brought my car in for a trip check before doing an extra long drive. They checked my car (which thankfully was in a good shape) for free and even gave me a generous bag of snacks for the trip. This on top of years of good, honest service. If you need service for your car, I cannot recommend Auto Stop enough. read more

I had a great experience with this business. Customer service was fantastic, all the staff is very friendly. Prices seem fair and I was recommended a good set of new tires. It took a few days for everything I needed done to be completed (took longer because of the snowstorm) but I received many updates throughout the process which I appreciated. The whole experience was smooth, convenient, and hassle-free. When I picked up my car, I was even gifted a goody bag! Amazing service, I will absolutely go back in the future. read more

Professional advice and fast service! They didn't try to upsell me. Also, really appreciated that they called a Lyft for my ride home. read more

Auto Stop Arlington - My lights are looking great - Auto Repair Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

Fast and professional service. I took my car here for a wheel alignment based on the reviews. I set my appointment online and received an email confirmation. I arrived a few minutes early and they quickly took my car in after covering the seat and steering wheel in plastic, along with the standard paper floor covering. The garage was very well maintained and clean...a very good indication and first impression. They made the necessary wheel alignment adjustments and charged me exactly what they quoted before doing the work, no surprise or up-sale! I was out the door and my car has zero vibration and tracks true down the road. I highly recommend this garage if you need an honest and professional car repair or wheel alignment. read more

It's a bit hard to figure out where to go for a newcomer but worth the hunt. They got me in right away, special ordered tires for my quirky Fiat, were patient with my questions, and were fair. Super nice people, too. read more

Hands down the best shop I have ever worked with! I started taking my van that I was restoring to this shop. #1 They did a great job keeping me updated on the status of my vehicle, #2 They were honest about what needed to be done. A lot of times females get taking advantage of in this business. I was comfortable with the team. #3 They provided a link with all of the details about my vehicle so I could make an informed decision about my vehicle. I take all of my vehicles to this shop now! read more

Personable and honest staff, fast service, honest business. Come here for everything from maintenance to new tires. Small but comfortable waiting room with good WiFi. Never been overly crowded, but make an appointment if you can. The guys at the front desk are very polite, friendly, attentive and efficient. Really couldn't ask for more! read more

Great shop, and fantastic customer service. Alex and Richard present for my oil change were very courteous. I was able to get a courtesy ride to a nearby barber while the oil change was done. To finish the transaction, I was pleasantly surprised with a bag of treats to finish out the day. First time there, and will come back for future card needs. read more

Auto Stop Arlington - Auto Repair Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

Absolute best place to take your car in the area. I have a 10 year old car, that started making a creaking noise while turning, but the noise only ever happened when it was hot out. Because of the intermittence of the sound we knew it might be difficult to diagnose the problem. We took it to Auto Stop, but the first day wasn't hot enough for the car to make the noise. Instead of sending it back to us with a "we don't know", they waited and kept test driving it until they sorted out the noise, which didn't take as long as I was worried it might. Once they had the problem figured out, they were very quick with the repair. They also did a full and very thorough inspection of the car, and replaced a burned out light for us while the it was in the shop. Throughout the whole process they had fantastic customer service and were extremely friendly. If you need a mechanic in the area, I can not recommend this place enough. read more

They were thorough, kind, and super helpful as I needed some important work done before a cross country trip.

If you are in Arlington, use Auto Stop. It may not look like much from the outside, but it's the folks inside that count. Just worked with Tom, James, Andre and Sean on issues with my F 250 and VW. They done good. Just has they have for the years I've been going there. Keep up the good work, fellas! read more

Hello, I was referred to this auto stop because my friend said they were very good and professional, more like scammers that is!!! I needed my transmission fluid changed and a checkup for leaks, I had researched on YouTube how to do the work myself and most videos didn't take more than 10min. They checked my car, theese men assumed I was ignorant because I'm a woman and told me it would take ONE HOUR just to look at it with a black flash light. I had to stop by the DMV so I let them do it anyway. Terrible mistake!!! They ended charging me for just looking at it a total of $83.72 They told me they had to lift my car and put special fluid and that I should drive it for a couple of miles and return later in the week to see where the leak was. I did so, when I returned with my car they checked it again and told me I had to pay $600 to fix the leak and change my transmission fluid all toguether. I said I would check with my bank first and took it to a friend. When my friend checked it for FREE, he told me they had left a couple of pipes unplugged and my other fluids where leaking out too, they were not unplugged to begin with!!! I DONT RECOMMEND THEESE SCAMMERS!!! BEWARE!!! IF I COULD I WOULD GIVE THEM NEGATIVE 5 STARS!!! read more

I've been a customer here since 2015! Always going above and beyond and helping me understand my car needs. Highly recommend their services.

I have been coming here for over a decade. and always had a great experience. Back in the days the owner was always there and was super helpful. Last February I brought my old car for an oil change. A representative came out after speaking to the mechanic and with a smirk asked me who did my last oil change. He was talking to me like it was a funny matter - I am convinced he would not talk like that to a guy. I asked him to please tell me what was wrong with the car and he told me that the previous mechanic screwed the bolt too tightly and now it was broken, but I should not worry at all because for $550 they could change the entire oil pan. At that time my old car was valued at that amount. I told him that I was not going to make that investment into a car I was about to trade and he started scaring me how they would not take responsibility if my car stopped on a highway because the engine dies. I asked him to do whatever they needed to do to put the bolt back the way it was when I brought the car. The experience was demeaning enough for me that I won't go back. I gave it 3 stars because I have had a great experience for years. read more

Great service and price for an oil change and tire rotation, will definitely come back.

Honest!! My car had a transmission problem and I had it towed to them. They took and look and told me to take it to the dealership because it was still under warranty and the dealership should fix it for free. They were right! They didn't even charge me for the diagnosis and gave my car a complete review and suggested several other minor things. Saved me $4000!! Would highly recommend!! read more

I've been an Auto Stop customer for about 5 years, and highly recommend them. I've always found them to be professional, courteous, upfront and honest. My last car was a lemon, so I was in and out of Auto Stop a lot. Staff always took the time to fully explain the work they were recommending, and never pushed unnecessary, expensive work. The metro shuttle is a nice plus for when you're leaving the car for the day and need to get off to work! read more

The guys at Auto Stop are awesome. I've been coming here for almost 3 years for all of my car needs. The pricing is fair, work is top notch and they are honest and caring. read more

This was my second experience with auto stop and I'll never take my car anywhere else! They are friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely care about their customers. I've recommended them to family and friends and everyone has had the same great experience I've had. They are very transparent about their prices and take the time to explain what needs to be done immediately and what could wait. During the COVID-19 pandemic they were even picking up and dropping off your car and sanitizing it in an effort to limit contact and keep customers safe. Can not recommend this place enough! read more

Very honest and professional. I'll take my car there again if I need it. My husband also takes his car there and had positive experience. He recommend auto stop to me. read more

I brought a 2009 Toyota Camry in for pre-purchase inspection, and Richard and Sean were absolute pros and incredibly helpful. They squeezed me in at the last minute, and went over the car with a fine tooth comb. I was on the verge of buying a used car, so Sean took about 20-30 minutes of his time to walk me through important engine maintenance, the reliability of various models, things to look out for, and expectations for used car purchasing. On top of that, they found huge issues with the car- likely $4000 worth of repairs that would be necessary soon- that the dealer either didn't know about or didn't tell me about. I took the car straight back to the dealer and left it there. Best $140 I ever spent! read more

I've used Auto Stop for a while and always been pleased with their service but this past week they earned a customer for life. I took my 2006 Forester in after having had it at the dealer for recalls where they shared I needed some significant work. Always a little wary of the dealer, I brought the car into Auto Stop the next day to see what was needed and what might be dealer add on with the intention of having Auto Stop do the necessary work. The work needed was significant and far more than I wanted to put into a 13 year old car; I was more than happy to pay for this second opinion and the team at Auto Stop insisted it was complementary...wow! Fast forward two days to car shopping...I knew I wanted to buy a new used given I do not drive a significant amount. I brought a three year old Outback in for a pre-purchase inspection and Richard was good enough to take me into the shop and show me some of the things that made him very wary of this particular vehicle; I took a pass on the car (thank you!!) Two days later I brought in another Outback and again the guys gave it a good look over - this one was much better but there were still a few issues. This gave me bargaining points for the dealership; the dealership wasn't interested in negotiating and again, I took a pass. Saturday I drove an Outback with better miles and exterior body condition and I called Alex around 1:00 and asked if there was anyway they could fit me in for a pre-purchase inspection before closing at 3:00...he told me no problem. This car was in much better shape and again, the pre-purchase inspection gave me a few negotiating points for the dealer...and they quickly and easily agreed to everything. So as of today I am the owner of a 2016 Outback and I feel confident that I've got a great car thanks to the guys at Auto Stop. While I hope I need nothing more than the occasional oil change or state inspection for the next few years, Auto Stop is the only place I will bring my car and I will recommend them to anyone looking for an honest, reliable mechanic. My sincere thanks to Richard, Alex, James, and the rest of the Auto Stop team for exceptional customer service and helping to make a bad automotive week for me that much better. You guys are awesome - thank you! read more

I'm still going to Auto Stop over 10 years after my first review and they've been nothing but consistently amazing over the years. My most recent repair was a very expensive and complicated air conditioning job on my Honda Civic. Richard took lead on this one and basically had to replace almost the entire system, but was extremely thorough and stuck with it until everything was working just right. There ended up needing additional repairs beyond the estimate but they didn't charge me for them since they weren't part of the quote. Upstanding business and I hope to continue seeing them for many years to come! read more

I came in to Auto Stop after very high quotes from both the dealership and a nearby mechanic for the 100k service on my daily commuter car. Am I glad I did! I called on a Monday night, dropped my car off Tuesday morning, and had it back after work same day. Best of all, they did the major service AND recommended some smart repairs to do while the engine was opened to save on future labor costs. The whole price of four significant tasks came out to 2/3 the price of the other guys doing just two tasks. Ben and David both are a real pleasure to deal with. They are attentive and patient, and just made the whole experience so easy that I brought in my second car, something of an exotic that many shops won't touch, that same day. They did a phenomenal job with some routine maintenance, and have earned my trust and future business. If you are looking for a locally-owned shop staffed by people who care about making you happy, look no further. read more

Auto Stop is hands-down the best place for routine car service, or any of your car needs. I have to admit, I'm not an expert on cars- meaning I know next to nothing about them. I've taken my car to many other shops for oil changes and whatnot, but Auto Stop has stood out. For the first time, I felt as if I wasn't getting ripped off because I was an ignorant female. The service is beyond outstanding, and communication is spot on. I always fell free to ask questions, and I always get an honest answer. If you don't need a service, they'll tell you. This is a diamond in the rough folks. read more

Amazing service. Everything was done as promised, without any unnecessary questions or problems. The manager ( I think his name is Richard) was very professional, polite and easygoing. I'm definitely coming back to this place. read more

Do not go to Auto Stop if you are a woman. I have been cheated and embarrassed at Auto Stop by having to fight to get my car towed and repaired after it stopped working immediately after they worked on it, sold a faulty pump that broke within 24 months, and lectured by the salesman about how my car was in such bad shape that he wouldn't let his wife drive it (the car has been doing great since I switched mechanics). This place has changed hands, but the new lobby and better coffee doesn't make up for the horrible service. Save yourself your time and money and go to one of the other reputable mechanics in Arlington. read more

We came to do a state inspection at 9 am. They told us it'll take 2 hours. We called at 11 and they said they took our car to another location and they don't actually do it. We won't get our car back until closing time. Update: We found the place that did the inspections and they moved our car up the line so they finished within 30min. To be fair, the company tried to reconcile by offering other services. read more

Fantastic experience. My splash guard was hanging down from the bottom of my car, making a cringeworthy noise whenever I went over a speed bump. And my maintenance light wouldn't go off. Those required two simple fixes and barely any time at all. They fixed those things within 20 minutes, answered all my questions, and sent me on my way. And they did it all for free, with no attempts to upsell or turn a profit. read more

The only auto shop that I have trusted 100% in every way. I cannot recommend them enough!!

I cannot express enough how satisfied I am with the team here at Auto Stop. I had an accident last year and the experience with another shop was horrible and they had my car for months and destroyed it. Auto Stop had it for 3 days and was able to repair and have my baby driving like new, again. They explained everything that was wrong, even kept apologizing for the horrible service I received at the other place. Shawn and team there are phenomenal. They had my business before, but they have my business now FOREVER! The customer service is UNMATCHED. I will be referring everyone I know here. Great job team. I am posting this review EVERYWHERE by the way. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU read more

If you're looking for a knowledgeable, competent, and honest auto shop, look no further. Richard, and his colleagues, went out of his way to help. I lost my brakes completely while driving through a traffic light. It's a miracle I wasn't in an accident, albeit it was 5am. The brake loss was caused by shoddy repair at the dealership 3 weeks prior. Auto Stop documented everything with pictures and written detail. I ended up getting my money back from the dealership thanks to Auto Stop. This place is my new go to for future auto service and repair! read more

Been coming here for a few years for oil changes and always had a great experience! They are probably the most friendly and professional auto shop I've ever been to. I walked in without an appointment so they said it would take about 2 1/2 hours, but then offered to call a Lyft to wherever I wanted. Richard helped me, who I think was also the manager, and called for me to be dropped off at Pentagon City Mall. (Seriously, when does that ever happen?) After shopping I Ubered back early and waited for another hour and then everything was done! They even said I was just about due for a filter change but could wait till next time. Definitely appreciate the honesty these guys have. Not that I needed it, but they even give out little candy bags which was a nice touch. Highly recommend these guys! read more
