We paid cash in full for the vehicle. CarMax had no problem taking the money from our account immediately, yet when significant issues were discovered shortly after the purchase, the process of getting our money back was anything but immediate. After taking the Mercedes to the dealership for a thorough inspection, we discovered multiple issues that would cost more than $10,000 to repair. These were not minor cosmetic concerns--they were significant mechanical issues that made us completely uncomfortable keeping the vehicle. We promptly decided to return the car under CarMax's return policy. However, when we went to return it on Thursday, we were told that the soonest CarMax could issue our refund check was Monday. That is incredibly frustrating when you consider that CarMax was able to take our money immediately when we purchased the vehicle. We paid cash specifically so we could have the flexibility to purchase a reliable vehicle for our son, who is extremely excited about finally being able to drive. Instead, because CarMax could immediately withdraw our money but could not immediately return it, we are left without access to those funds for several days and unable to move forward with purchasing another vehicle. The customer service was equally disappointing. Denise was extremely unprofessional, and throughout this entire process, I found the staff at the Lynnwood location to be unhelpful and unwilling to take ownership of the situation. We repeatedly had to try to figure things out ourselves rather than feeling like anyone was actually advocating for us as customers. I understand that used vehicles can have issues. What I find unacceptable is the combination of the condition of the vehicle, the significant repair costs discovered almost immediately after purchase, and the lack of urgency and customer service when we tried to return it. Buying a car--especially a first car for your teenage child--should be an exciting experience. Instead, this turned into an incredibly frustrating and stressful one. I would never recommend CarMax Lynnwood based on our experience, and I will not be purchasing another vehicle from CarMax.

This review is about the stellar customer service that was provided to me while buying a car. Buying a car from a dealership is a pain and I spent weeks stressing about doing it. When the time finally came, I went to a local and known Ford Dealership that immediately tried to screw me over on payments and price of the vehicle and had to walk away. After I left there, I went to Seattle Finest Motors because they had a car in their inventory I was very interested in, a 2016 Ford Explorer. I had found it online a couple days prior and the sales agent Leonard reached out to me about it. The day I wanted to see it, he came in on his day off just to help me. The entire time I worked with Leonard he was honest and respectful. He not only helped me get the car I wanted, but got me a much better rate than I was expecting. During the test drive I noticed the air conditioner in the car wasn't blowing as cold as it should be and the team there kept the car overnight to have it looked at and the next day when I went to pick it up the AC was cold as ice. The day I picked it up, another sales agent named Habib assisted me in getting all of the paperwork together and answering all my dumb questions. I drove the car off the lot that day. About two weeks later I received my license plates via mail (a huge advantage that saved me a trip!) along with a check for the difference in the cost of vehicle tabs. What impressed me most about Seattle Finest Motors is the honesty about the vehicles and transparency about what you pay for. They didn't try any aggressive sales tactics, make me feel pressured, and were extremely helpful. If you're looking for a used car, definitely check these guys out. Side note: I know I said the review wasn't about the car, but I've put several hundred miles on it already including a trip that was over 100 miles and it's had absolutely no problems.

I only learned this as I was walking out the door, and him and his boss or whatever demanded to know why I was no longer interested. They followed me to my car demanding an explanation with raised voices. Incredibly inappropriate. I went somewhere else. When I contacted the dealership for assistance, I explained that I have children and that this was a major safety concern. I also explained that I could not safely get the vehicle there myself and could not afford a tow truck. Initially, I was told they would need to ask the owner about helping with a tow, but nobody ever followed up with me. When I called back, I was then told there was "no way" for them to get a tow arranged. Because of this, I was forced to manually bypass the warning/code issues myself just to get the vehicle drivable enough to make it from Mount Vernon to Lynnwood. During that drive, I had no functioning brake lights or turn signals, which made the situation even more dangerous. Despite explaining all of this, I felt my concerns were brushed off. When I finally arrived, I was told they "didn't HAVE to help" me, but that they would once the vehicle was there. At one point, after expressing frustration and mentioning possible legal action, I was also told that if I pursued that route they would not help me or fix the issue. Since purchasing the vehicle, I have also discovered that both the engine air filter and cabin air filter were extremely dirty and appeared to have been neglected for quite some time. These are basic maintenance items that should have been inspected or replaced prior to sale. I also later learned the vehicle originated from Canada, which explained why there was limited history available through Carfax. While I did notice scratches and dents at the time of purchase, I was disappointed to later realize there may have been additional history I was unable to fully verify beforehand because Canadian vehicle history does not always appear the same way on U.S. reports. To be fair, the dealership ultimately did fix the issue and paid for the repair. However, the way the situation was handled from the beginning -- especially considering the safety concerns involved -- left me with very little trust in this business moving forward. What makes this even more disappointing is that I traded in my nearly brand new Toyota with only around 25,000 miles on it because I trusted this dealership and expected the vehicle I purchased to be properly inspected and reliable. I would have never traded in my dependable, nearly new vehicle for something this unreliable had I known the condition this vehicle was actually in. I understand that once a used vehicle leaves the lot, responsibility largely falls on the buyer. However, customers still expect vehicles to receive thorough inspections and to be reasonably safe and reliable at the time of sale. Unfortunately, this experience was stressful, disappointing, and has left me questioning how carefully these vehicles are actually inspected before being sold.

In the video call the sales person Cole said that the wheels were in perfect shape and no curb rash. However, when receiving the car two of the wheels were damaged. They tried to blame the transport company, but they sent me pics showing it was noted at pickup of vehicle and not the transport company. This is going to cost an extra $1200 out of my pocket. They refused to take responsibility or even offer any pricing concessions. I was told shipping"ship it back we have plenty of other people who would purchase this car" Additionally, I was told shipping and 2 keys were going to be included. After signing paperwork, I was informed that I would have to pay $1250 to ship the car and it only had 1 key. The management was unresponsive. I can't in good conscience make this a 4 or 5 star review. My emails received no response and nothing was straight forward. I don't think it's malice but that they're very disorganized. I'd recommend an admin assistant because I'm sure it is hard to sell and show cars, on top of answering phones, scheduling repairs, etc.
