AUTO LOGIC is the place to go if your car needs anything from general to heavy duty maintenance. I usually bring my car in for smogs @ G8 next door, but ive been in and out of auto logic to get parts for my 97 civic replaced. The last time I went, I had replaced my brakes, theyre super speedy, pay attention to details, and only provides needed maintenance to increase my civic's longevity! since im an auto dummy, auto logic's KEN always explains everything to me in lay-man terms. I got referred here by a friend. Called the shop on a Tuesday, my car was in by Wednesday, and got all repairs and service complete by Thursday morning. Explained the list of problems to Ken and he got it taken care of without any up-selling and for a very fair price. I have a 1 series BMW that's out of warranty and anyone who owns a German luxury car knows how expensive stealerships and even "euro only" service shops cost for labor. Auto logic charges 100/hr which is honestly a very reasonable rate. Service and repairs included for slightly under $700: - Oil change and coolant added - Alignment - Hood latch repair of both cables (I couldn't open my hood using the latch and the last time I had it replaced cost me over double what auto logic charged me -- granted I provided my own cable this time ~ $30 online) - Diagnosis of daytime running light and electrical repair - electrical work can be tricky and end up being very expensive - Ken's prices was less than I expected - CA Smog test I also mentioned that I'd replace the intake filter, micro filter, and service other minor issues myself and Ken respected my choice and gave me some good tips on how to do the maintenance myself. Other pluses: - The shop closes at 6pm but Ken left me a voicemail around 6:20 on a Wednesday to let me know they were finishing up the car that night and it'd be ready by 9am Thursday morning. I appreciate the extra hours to get it done and back to me in less than 24 hours - I work in downtown SF and they are located walking distance to both Caltrain and Bart - Recommended services were reasonable and not your typical service advisor who upsell you on maintenance and repairs that you typically don't need I will absolutely bring my car again for service and refer friends. read more

A trustworthy place to bring your car. Ken and his crew are top-notch. My Subaru's brakes started making some really bad noises, so I checked yelp to find a good mechanic near my office. After reading all the great reviews about Auto Logic, I decided to give them a call. Ken offered to give my car a free inspection/test drive. He identified the problem, and I showed him a few other problems I've been having with my headlight and horn (I'm kind of a procrastinator when it comes to car maintenance). Ken helped me prioritize what we should fix first, and what could wait a little while. Surprisingly, he said the more expensive break job could wait and we should fix some of the other issues first. I brought my car in and they gave me a ride over to my office while they worked on my car, and they picked me up when it was ready. I really appreciated that. Not only did they do a great job fixing my headlight and horn, they also fixed my fog-lights and replaced a couple other bulbs that went out that I didn't realize. No additional charge for labor. I didn't even know I had fog lights...Ken had to show me how to use them. I'm glad I found a good mechanic on the peninsula. :) NOTE: I saw that one other reviewer dinged them a star for being $100 an hour instead of $80. That's not necessarily a good indicator of price. A lot of mechanics are around $100 an hour, some are a little more, some are a little less. But the $80 mechanic might bill you for two hours of labor where the $100 mechanic might only bill you for one. Auto Logic charged me for one. :D read more

Auto Logic is now my go-to place for car repair, even though it's a bit of a drive for me. My car has a lot of miles on it and some very strange problems that other shops have not been able to pin down, but Ken went straight to work and got me the answers I needed. He went above and beyond to show me not only what needs to be fixed in order for my car to work properly, but also why it needs to be fixed. He even offered to drop me off at the mall down the street so I wouldn't be bored waiting! I am so relieved to finally have the number of a shop I can trust, and Ken even went so far as to say I could call any time I have problems with my car in the future. Brought my car in for oil change. Called at open on Saturday and they were able to get me in at 10. Once I arrived, the car was quickly brought to the shop and serviced. Also had a dead light bulb in the headlight, and they were able to replaced the same time. As my brakes were really loud, they did a quick diagnostic on it. Amazingly, they told me the brakes are still ok, probably just really noisy pads. No need for replacement yet. Funny how a year and half ago same thing happened at a Meinecke in San Rafeal, and I left the shop $800 later. So for all the routine oil change, fixing the headlight, and making sure my brakes won't kill people, I left the shop 30 minutes later and was charged very reasonably about $50. 2019 Forester service. I went to 4 other spots before here. I know shops aren't exactly clean places, they have oil, old car parts, tires, and grease all around. Anyway Auto-Logic is super clean has a nice parking area. Took my 2019 Subaru Forester in for 2 services. First one was a transmission fluid change for the CVT transmission on the Forester, and second was for front, and rear differential gear oil. I walked in for a quote, they took down all my info. Called me about 30 minutes later with an actual price. They broke down down everything that they were going to do and that they would need to order oem Subaru oils because that's what was better to use than aftermarket. The quote was very reasonable and In Fact , much lower than the transmission place down El Camino. Service was performed the following week and everything was nice and smooth. I also ended up paying a little less than the price quoted. Saved me over $400 vs the dealership. Next time I need anything done to my car, I'm taking it here first. read more

Stupid me did the oil change and there's a little drip of oil in my garage. I went to quicklane serramonte and they told me to diagnose is $65. I told him it's either the oil filter or the drain plug, I have a wrist injury so may be it's not tight enough. Went to Auto Logic and spoke to the tall guy, he asked for me key, drive carefully to the ramp, crawled underneath with a flashlight. Tightened up my drain plug and told me I missed the washer, that's why it's leaking..damn it. Since it's mobil 1and only 100 miles, it's not a n economical to drain the oil and put washer, the leak is very small anyway, he said he will take care of it next time and refused my money. Came here for a Smog check I needed for the DMV. My check engine light was on, so they couldn't do the smog check until the light was turned off. Ken explained the whole situation to me, as well as many different options I could do. I'm a pretty good judge of character and I know when I'm being played. With that being said, I really appreciate the honesty and full explanations I was given about my car. He really helped me to understand what needed to be done. These guys are absolutely great. The shop is really clean and all of the guys that work there are very nice and knowledgeable. I went in for an oil change. It was inexpensive and quick! They did a courtesy full inspection as well and when they were all done, Ken and Joe told me everything that was going on under the hood. They told me about a few things that I should keep an eye on until next time. Compared to other shops I've been to, Auto Logic has been the most helpful. They don't try to sell you things and services you don't need but still keep you updated on things that need to be checked out. Everyone was friendly and fast in doing the diagnostic but I'm a little unsure whether I was given the best advice... I accept my struts and shocks will need replacing but I was quoted over $800 to do this and I was told my tires were cupping which a car savy friend and Firestone confirmed today is not currently the case. $800 is pretty steep when online quotes were more around $500-600 for both to be done. I appreciate they checked out the car and also told me about two leaks but I also would have appreciated to be given a bit more a sense of when this could all be done as $800 plus the leak cost repair is a lot to fork out in a day when the work might not be urgent... read more

I had a great experience at Auto Logic today. I went in for new brake pads. I spoke with Ken and told him my car was really shaking every time I used the brakes too. He said that was because the roters were shot. I had asked two mechanics previously about the shaking. And they had both shrugged and said it could be a lot of things. Ken arranged an Uber ride for me and my two kids back home. The car was ready to be picked up just a few hours later. The price was really reasonable. And the shaking is gone. I dread going into auto shops as a woman because I feel so out of place. This was a positive experience, and I will definitely go back. read more

After reading the Yelp reviews on Auto Logic, I decided to give them a try. My auto registration was long overdue and had reached the point that I was pulled over by CHP twice in a month. Despite having paid my registration fees, I was not given the registration tags because I had to have my car smogged. The problem was I knew no one would smog my car due because of the check engine light. Despite my spending in excess of $500, the money was well spent. Given the amount of work done, Auto Logic's fees are reasonable. Had I gone elsewhere, it would have cost significantly more. Another plus is that Auto Logic provided transportation to and from my condo while they worked on my car. Thanks to Ken, Joe and Ed for a great job. This place is awesome. Went to them based on a referral from a co-worker. They're very up front about what kind of services need to be on a vehicle and provide clear, explanations of the process. I took my car here and they adjusted and cleaned my parking brakes, whereas another shop said they needed to be replaced. On another occasion they checked my presumed dead battery and helped me out. Their prices are very fair. Everyone I spoke to with over there was helpful and knowledgeable. I am definitely going to bring my other car here. I had to find a new mechanic after moving to the Bay Area, and boy, am I glad I found Auto Logic. These guys are clear, upfront and honest, and provide excellent customer service. I had my front brake pads and rotors changed at my previous mechanic due to wobbling during braking. The mechanic said it was just warped rotors, and changed them out. Not too long after, the problem reoccurred, and I was stuck with it for a while until I came to Auto Logic. While replacing the front brakes, Joe noticed that it was actually the bearings in one of the front wheels that was causing uneven wear on the brake, and thus causing the wobble. Despite paying more than I expected that day, having to replace the bearings in one wheel in addition to the brake job, I'm glad the problem was found and corrected. I came here for smog several times. Had to rotate my tires for my new outback and wife's Lexus truck this past Saturday. These guys did it really fast (unlike a dealer). Wow, great service and very reasonable prices. They even told me why my wife's last rear brake job was a cheap patch job (only replaced pads without resurface). That explains why it was so cheap. I've been there once with a 1980 Bronco. I showed up on a Monday morning unannounced, but they helped me right away. I left the vehicle there for the day. They called me in the afternoon with good news. Long story short, I thought the problem was bigger than it was. That tells me that they are both competent and honest. They charged me for the part I needed plus an hour of shop time. They also threw in about a quarter tank of gas because I showed up on empty which may have been part of the problem. Before I left, they gave me some advice regarding the issue I came in for and also some other potential issues (it's an old car). In short, these guys made a good first impression and I will go back to them with any future problems. Will update if/when I go back. read more

I have spent thousands of dollars with these guys over the past four years or so - lots of cars serviced/fixed. The quality of work is good. That said, their service has gone down the tube in the last year or so. They were always a bit condescending but now the owner spends barely anytime talking to you and explaining much. I think with the economy picking up, they have lots of business and want to make the most of their hours - so they don't dig too deep - if a part is broken, replace the whole unit because it's faster to replace - so what if costs the customer 10x in parts because instead of replacing a $50 part, you ordered a $500 component. If a job requires some custom work, research or it's an old car, they don't even talk to you. Pros: you won't get robbed here but expect to pay through the nose. Cons: no longer a shop that takes time to investigate and get repairs done at a reasonable price. read more

i would not even rate these guys, they are opportunist! if you walk into their shop, they look at you as an opportunity so they can rip you off! Most specially if you are a woman. I dealt with these guys one morning because i saw some reviews at yelp which sort of motivated me to come down but to my disgust and dismay, it was a nightmare dealing with this guy Ken. A month after he fixed my car, the water reservoir "cracked" some guy quoted me $250 he says an hour will be ready, it took 2 hours, Ken checked us out he says $300 for a reservoir to be replaced, i said your guys says $250, but he was telling me something else they fixed. We got home and my son noticed the white stuff apparently glue, all around the top of the cover of the fan all glued up, they broke the covering and glued it up without telling us, thats why it took two hours to replace it they waited until the glue sets in. I went back there and this guy Ken was VERY argumentative like a female bitch talking to me calling me DUDE! I told him dont you call me a dude, I am 50 years old, have some respect! He was screaming loud into my face unbelievable! He was not even the one who fixed the car, there was a lot more he said that I just dont want to waste my energy mentioning it here, but beware of these guys, they're CONS, do not trust your car in the hands of these guys. The other thing i hated about this guys KEN, he kept telling me your car is old and has too many miles on it. I told him it is none of his business, i paid for this car, its 2001 BMW 525 its got miles on it coz of my business driving to and from to Napa i am a wine exporter and I use it for business. And he says so what are you going to do to your car? I said i'll give it to my son, he says "Oh so you will pass on to him the problems? so who cares? all he should care about is fix the damn car and dont care about the mileage shit! i just wanted to throw this out there again. this place rocks. so what do you want in a good mechanic? biggest selection of decals for your car? appointments anytime you want? best coffee and waiting room? no. you want someone that can find a problem and fix things. i cant tell you how many times i would go to places and they misdiagnose an issue (and charge). came here with an issue with my 2010 jeep srt8. check engine light. anyone can scan the error codes (hell i do with our obd2 reader and reset the light), but to actually figure out what is causing the issue? only a real mechanic can do that. figured out the issue in no time. gave me options. fixed the problem, and lucky for me, theres a smog shop next door too, so i got two birds with one stone. cant ask for more than that. although, a giant flame decal on the side of my car would be nice (and it would add 10 hp too). read more

Once again, Auto Logic saved the day. My car was making strange noises and I was worried about it. Gave Auto Logic a call on a Tuesday night at 5:45 p.m. and told them that my car was making weird noises and that I wanted to have it towed early in the morning. Joe & Ken (from G8) said they'd be there pretty late and I could have it towed that night. Got the car towed, and the next morning at 8:15 a.m., I got a call saying my car was ready! Turns out they fixed a cracked exhaust pipe and cost of repairs would only be $40! Can't beat that! I *heart* this place! First off, I only found auto logic by accident as a repair shop. I have been putting off my timing belt change on my Accord for months now, but have not found a shop that i trust as i have had a bad experience with another shop in the east bay (jay's autoshop). i initially was looking for a sandwich shop when the bright green building caught my eye. i decided to stop by see what kind of work they were doing and was extremely surprised to see various cars being worked on. i saw a Bentley, a C6 Corvette, a UPS truck, and an Acura being worked on. the place looked meticulous; some of the shops i have been to in the past have had oil all over the floor, wrenches and other tools scattered around. Auto logic was surprising spick and span clean. I am an anal person, so little things like that bother me. to me, if a shop is dirty and messy, then they will do dirty and messy work. so after stalking the place for 5 mins, i decided to talk to one of the guys in the front. his name was Joe and he was very polite and answered all my questions. he gave me a fair quote for the parts and was able to coordinate around my schedule to get the timing belt done. he did not present me with the hard sales approach with trying to sell me more things than i needed, which i liked. so i bit the bullet and decided to schedule an appointment for the following saturday to have the work done. i dropped the car off first thing the morning saturday and returned later in the afternoon. to be honest, even though everything seemed well, i was still uneasy about the overall situation just because of my past experiences. i hope i had not made a mistake with this shop bc i know messing up a timing belt would cost me an arm and a leg, as well as a huge headache bi*ching at the shop. i walked in and joe was discussing some work. they greeted me and told me everything went smoothly. as they were handing my keys, he also told me that they fixed my front turn signal light (it hasn't been working in 3 months!) free of charge! i was very happy with this and the car ran great! i've driven it for 2k miles now and so far so good. auto logic is the place to take your car, no matter if it's a sportscar, family van, or a ups truck lol thanks joe! read more
