I needed to move a '66 Oldsmobile Toronado that had been sitting in my father's San Francisco garage for over forty years and had four flats tires. Carlos had the expertise to get the car onto his flatbed in a matter of seconds on a very busy bus-filled street. When we discovered in addition to the four flat tires, the rear wheels were frozen and the car was unable to be maneuvered into place at the new location, Carlos went above and beyond just towing the car. He actually took my dad's car all the way to his shop in Colma and mounted, balanced, and attached four new tires to the car. As an added bonus, he managed to unfreeze the rear wheels too. He gave me a really amazing deal for the tires and his service and when he returned with the car, we were able to get the car to coast into its section of the garage. But Carlos didn't stop there! He actually managed to get the engine to turn over much to my amazement. You can tell that this man loves cars! I'm sure given enough time, he could have gotten the car started. Carlos was a godsend! My 2011 Mercedes C300 was stuck on a hill in SF and wouldn't start. I later discovered that the Electronic Steering Lock (ESL) had gone bad, which left me with a predicament as it was a difficult towing situation; the vehicle is a rear wheel drive, and the front wheels were locked by the bad ESL and fully turned to face the street, leaving all 4 wheels fully locked. The average AAA tow truck would likely have damaged the car, as this situation requires an experienced handler with a flatbed tow truck. Luckily, I found Carlos, who not only owns a flatbed, but is also a car enthusiast and a former Mercedes mechanic. Upon hearing the vehicle's make and model, Carlos accurately predicted the problem and offered to come check on the car (it was roughly 9 pm at this point) and attempt to bring it back to life. While that didn't work, it showcased his ability to diagnose the problem, and I really appreciated his willingness to help. Carlos came back the next day to tow my vehicle from SF to my mechanic in SJ, and skillfully maneuvered the vehicle up his flatbed by lubricating the front wheels and getting the rear brakes to release (he triggered the neutral release button in the gearbox). His conscientiousness was evident throughout the process and he was very careful to ensure that there were sufficient margins on both sides of the car to prevent unnecessary damage. My experience with Carlos and Calderon Tow and Auto was the absolute best. From the first phone conversation til now, I was provided with exceptional service that I'll forever be grateful for. I got into a bad car crash in the city and had to figure out a way to get it back to the east bay where I reside at and the first place I called was here. I don't know what I would've done without Carlos and his expertise. I had no idea what to do in a situation like this but Carlos walked me through step by step what to do and gave me so much advice that really helped make my entire situation easier. Carlos and I were in contact for the entire day and he was incredibly helpful. He met me at the presidio and figured out a way to get the car (which didn't drive and the two front tires were no good) onto his truck and took it to his shop. I followed him there with my U-Haul truck and car trailer and he spent a good two hours figuring out a way to get the car onto my trailer. Carlos is not only a car doctor, he's a superhero. The man knows his stuff, and he is passionate about what he does. Our Honda Accord would crank but not start, and on short notice, Carlos came over and immediately diagnosed the issue, as well as inspected the rest of the car.
