I dont live in the city, but my boyfriend does, and my car broke down there. So we had my car towed ( a different tow place) to a VW dealership by his house. The dealership's price was way too expensive to fix my car, so I called around to have my car towed home. I call up Westlake and not only was this the cheapest I talked to, they were the nicest. The woman ,Carolee, I talked with asked the type of car ; Jetta, and where is was; she than went on to say how she had a Jetta as well and that before we tow the car to my home I should give the place she goes to get her Jetta fixed. I called up this place, and it was a million times cheaper, so not only did I save my money on the towing, but on fixing my car as well. I'm super happy with this place and this wonderful woman who gave her business else where, and I'll still be having my car towed by them to the shop she referred me to, IM SO HAPPY. read more

I'm extremely frustrated and disappointed with the service provided by Westlake Tow. A friend of mine, who was visiting us from out of state, had a very unpleasant experience with this predatory towing company. She was simply backing into our parking area, which is located near our apartment, for just 3-5 minutes to retrieve her dogs from our apartment . During that brief period, her vehicle was hitched and ready to be taken away, despite not obstructing anyone (solely blocking our paid parking spot) nor causing any disruption. The whole incident took place in a matter of minutes, and she was unaware that this could even result in a tow. This towing felt incredibly predatory and unnecessary. It seems like Westlake Tow is more interested in charging people than actually providing reasonable service. My friend did nothing wrong, yet she was penalized for a completely harmless action. I would strongly advise anyone to avoid using their services if possible. It's clear they prioritize making money off of people who make the slightest mistake rather than offering fair and ethical towing practices. I will be taking my complaints further and sharing this experience to warn others about how they operate. Terrible experience, and I hope they reconsider their approach to customer service. I additionally advise any business to avoid conducting business with a company that has such unethical practices and drives around trying to make a quick dollar without anyone calling to complaint. Specifically the driver of their Burgundy Red company marked truck - whoever drives it in the weekends in/out of SF on 280 has been observed driving irresponsibly and dangerously. This is the kind of towing company should be sued and forced to be closed. They illegally towed my friends car in our apartment complex after no one called or had contacted anyone to do so and with no warning within an hour of him parking (in which my apartment complex and the LAW specifically states must issue a warning before towing) . It was in front of my garage where no one but myself would mind if it was parked there. It was during a late Friday night and when we had called the company we were told to meet at some random spot in Daly City, to then be forced to pay $650 upfront to then follow him to some place where he had towed the car. We asked if we can atleast see the car first or to have some reassurance that he actually had it but was sketchly adamant on paying him ONLY IN CASH FIRST just to only then have to follow him in hoping he wasn't scamming us. He made us go to the bank while he waited and said that they don't have a credit card scanner and that it was broken. This place goes around looking for cars to tow and forces people to pay upwards of hundreds of dollars for fees we couldn't even understand and with no explanation besides the fact that they took his car and is holding his car in some other lot. We now have to pursue legal action for some a-holes who go around just towing people's car for profit. What a horrible place and the people who go around and do it should be arrested for theft. read more

My husband called Westlake Tow yesterday because we needed an inoperable vehicle that has been sitting in our house for a long time to be removed from our garage. For years weve called many other towing companies and not a single one of them ever wanted to perform the tow job. We were always given an excuse oh your street is narrow we can't come through, oh you need to put a new battery in your vehicle and get it at least to start and be able to push it out to the driveway, etc. Well God answered our prayers we were blessed with Miguel. Yes at first we waited a long time for him to call back and come through, but that's all minor he is a busy man. Miguel kept his promise he came through for sure and apologized told us he had a busy day. But man this guy he is truly the best he did the job and got the car out swiftly and professionally and he and the company gave us a good deal for this service. Talking to the person in the office it seems like they do some shady things here. I was on private property, parked in a red zone, which have parked in for YEARS, and I get it..it's a red zone. The problem I have is that this person said he goes there after his place is closed on his way home just to see what he can pick up. So in other words he does it just because he knows it's shady to do at that time of day...doesn't do it any other time of day just when his shop is closed, on a Friday so you have to pay for overnight since he's already closed, plus weekend rate, plus storage, etc etc..comes to over $650!!! What a friggin scam! No one called it in to say hey...there is a person parked in this red zone, that has no business being a red zone as there isn't one on the exact same thing on the other side of the property, but because it was late and a Friday and he could make the most $. What a DB!!! Lived in the property for 7yrs and never had this issue before and people park there ALL the time, literally! Oh well..my bad luck I guess. I called and told them I have a police report with the items listed that are known to be in this vehicle and they refuse to let me collect my items!!! They are in possession of stolen property!!! Their customer service is horrible and the people who work there are extremely unprofessional. To clarify, the vehicle was stolen from the original owner. This company towed my car from an empty parking lot by a beach in the middle of nowhere late at night while I was 6 months pregnant at the height of COVID... Seriously?!? I had to get an Uber home which was a good 30 mins away away and when I called them, they said they'd give me a discount which they didn't honor the next day. When I picked up my car, pregnant and crying after they charged me $700, the manager wouldn't even come out to negotiate with me. The employee was kind and did not try to rip me off. Although there was an after hours fee it was the cheapest option. I was driving home yesterday with my young child when I accidentally ran over a cone that became wedged under my car. I tried pulling it loose but it was stuck fast. I was on my way to the nearest gas station in a mild panic when a nice young man noticed the cone and motioned for me to stop and before I could say anything he went underneath my car and with some effort pulled it loose. I was so grateful to him and thanked him profusely but unfortunately did not have my wallet with me and couldn't pay him but he just waved me away with a bright smile. Ardy did the high quality safe tow because he told me so when he released the car to me. He recognized me with my mask on after not seeing me for 5 years. He recognized the voice. I did not use Westlake Tow for tow services. My review is for the service and price they gave me for unlocking my car. First of all, it was $55 FLAT. No service charge to just show up and "see" if they can unlock my car. Some places charge you a fee to come out and then charge you more for the actual service of unlocking your car. Anyway, the lady on the phone was super nice, asked what car it was and when she found out it was a BENZ, guess what? She didn't try to jack up the price like everywhere else did. They were at my place within 10 minutes, the guy who came out to unlock my car was extremely nice too. It took about 10-15 minutes for him to get it done, but who cares? $55! 5Stars for great service, and price! read more

My car was towed by Police's mistake. Police did not check the temporary registration on my windshield and got it towed by mistake. My complains to the tow guys: 1. They replaced my car battery with old one while my car was there. 2. I offered them car title and key. I wanted to surrender the car but they refused to accept my car. Then i learned in the state of CA tow company can bill you 120 days @75$ =$9000. 3. The guy took my key and refused to return it. I had to call cops to get my keys back. If you go there, go guarded. Beware! Rudest business encounter I've ever had. I am a commercial property owner who has used a different towing company for removing illegally parked cars from my property for the past 15 years. Today I noticed that Westlake Tow had installed their sign over their competitors existing sign that was posted on my property. When I asked Westlake Tow to remove their signs, they refused and said I would need to fix the problem they had created. Then they hung up on me. I got my car totaled in an accident and they did everything they could to help me out with my car. I was kind of hesitant when I first called because the girl who answered the phone was kind of unprofessional. She was smacking her gum and kept repeating questions. But she got my info and sent a truck my way to pull my car out of some dirt where my tires had gotten stuck. It was 5 in the morning and we had been waiting 3 hours due to the incompetence of another tow company so it was a relief to know that a truck was on its way. The driver, Arnie, called when he was close to find out exactly where we were. He couldn't have been nicer and more helpful in getting us out. He told me everything I needed to do and he got us out in about 10 minutes. I would recommend this place if you needed a tow. They were quick and helpful and Arnie is the man. The tow ended up being $135 to pull me out. At that point we just wanted to get out of there so we didn't care about the price but it was pretty reasonable nonetheless read more

We had a friend's car get the front end stuck off a ledge. I was super impressed with how well the driver (Happy) was able to get the car back up using wood blocks to create a makeshift ramp. Happy was super diligent with making sure the car was safely secured and seemed in control of the situation the whole time. Very smart guy, and funny too. read more

We were involved in a car accident on Devils Slide (Highway 1) the CHP called Westlake Tow. Three cars were involved.. Our car was drivable but the car that hit us blew our tire. The accident closed down this two lane highway on a Sunday afternoon so there was alot of presssure to reopen the road. My husband started to change our tire but the chp told him to let the tow truck guy change it. The tow truck driver said it would be $250. I tried to give him our AAA card, he said I needed to give him cash. All the cash we could come up with was $105. He agreed to take that but refused to give me a receipt. The CHP officer said she would put it in the report so I could collect from the insurance company of the person that caused the accident. Of course when we got the report she had not. Westlake Tow denies ever collecting the money. Our insurance Co and the other party's insurance company refused to reimburse us without a receipt. Westlake Tow takes advantage of people when they are most vunerable, I would never ever recommend them for anything. read more

I got into a car accident just two days ago in the San Bruno mountains (which is literally like 2-3 miles away) and charged me $400. Plus extra fees for having the car on their ugly property.
