Charging the tiny 4.4kWh Li-ion battery pack in snowy Tahoe
    David L.

Bought a 2014 Toyota Prius Plug-in at a very reasonable price. The transaction was smooth and fast without incident or drama. Received registration certificate and "pink slip" title from the DMV within a few weeks. The car is used and had the usual wear-and-tear issues for the age of the vehicle, and the mileages as expected. The tiny 4.4kWh Li-ion battery pack that power the car to go 11 miles in EV mode works great. I would recommend and do business with this establishment again.

This is a legit dealership. There are many various options and good deal in the bay area. The dealership gave me a good deal and gave me the best service. Happy to have my first car here. Greg is my dealer and he is really patient and passionate about his job. I would recommend my friends and family to visit this place.

Bought this car a year ago from Greg. I love it!!

Greg is not very punctual, and also quite rude. He also doesn't take very good care of the cars he deals.

The cars were ok, can't expect much from a lower end car dealer. We sat down with the guy who goes over all the numbers Alberto. I wanted to test drive because I feel it's important to get the feel of the car before we invest any type of monetary decisions. Especially because of the different ranges of cars we were looking at one luxury and the other a work truck. As soon as we sat down we got a big narrative about how they are expanding and that they don't really need to sell a car to us because they make millions a month. Anyhow the guy also explained to us that you "CANNOT TEST DRIVE ANYWHERE, AT ANY DEALERSHIP", until you agree on how much you want to buy the car for. That caught my attention because we just came from a different dealership and they let us test drive no problem. I had mentioned that to the rep., and he said "I'm not here to argue". I had no intention to argue, I simply just wanted the truth. You can't go around lying to your potential clients like they live under a rock and don't know what 1+1 equals. If I'm going to invest cash and buy a car outright I want to check and test drive. I don't need a "full experience", I was just asking for the basic concepts. Anyhow needless to say, we left. Not buying a car here. Experience was mediocre. Thank you for your reply. I fully understand that dealerships need to make a reasonable profit and that pricing negotiations are part of doing business. My offer was simply a starting point based on my own market research and comparable values. Negotiation is not personal it's business, and I respect that. What I do want to clarify is the sequence of events regarding the test drive. Under standard California dealership practices including verification of a valid driver's license pursuant to the California Vehicle Code §12500 and routine documentation procedures test drives are typically offered as part of the normal evaluation process once a customer expresses interest. In my case, the opportunity to test drive the vehicle was not meaningfully presented until I was already leaving the dealership. By that point, the interaction had shifted almost entirely to pricing. From a buyer's standpoint, it is difficult to align on value whether referencing KBB or any other pricing guide without first being able to evaluate the vehicle through a proper test drive. You mentioned my offer of $20,000 on a $41,000 vehicle. Of course, if a dealership asks a customer what they are willing to pay before the vehicle is fully evaluated, the number may reflect a more cautious position. A test drive and thorough review often help narrow that gap because it allows the buyer to assess condition, performance, and overall value firsthand. Regarding paying cash, I did not expect that payment method alone required a discount. I simply stated that I was prepared to purchase immediately if we could come to terms. I'm not attempting to present an incomplete version of events only my genuine experience as it occurred. I wish your dealership well and hope future interactions with customers begin with the opportunity to evaluate the vehicle before focusing heavily on price.

And since I prefered European make over Japanes or US, we decided on an X5. Not knowing what car dealers I could trust, I intended to look for an X5 sold by a BMW dealership. But all the bmw's that appealed to me seem a bit over budget. Then I saw a nice affordable X5, but unfortunately ,as most more affordable ones, It wasn't sold by a BMW dealership. Reviews of non-factory dealers had learned me that you might end up a unhappy/unlucky buyer when purchasing a car at such a dealer. But for some reason I decided to give this particular dealer my last shot and did some background research. It was called Bremn and happened to have all very good reviews. (And the few bad ones appeared to be fake). I got enthousiastic and contacted Igor for this X5. Unfortunately it happened to be sold one day earlier. But Igor told me that he also buys cars upon request, on closed auctions. Long story short: Igor asked my requirements and started looking around. He then provided me with options for cars that would meet my requirements. For me, it is hard to judge a car. I (tend to believe that I) am more capable of judging people My impression was that Igor is the guy I can trust to find me the right car for us. Somehow I like the fact that Igor is not fully dependent of his car sales. He has a serious, senior job in tech and Bremn is his way to be able to spend time in a usefull way on his passion for luxury cars. Doing this on a small scale, enabling him to serve his customers with high standards of service. He is in this business for the long run and wants to really to do well for his customers and seems to really take pride of finding the best car for his clients. As I only had just arrived in the US I didn't know my way around with all the paperwork, warranties and other things you run into as a driver and car owner. I think I wasn't the easiest client with all the questions I had. But Igor took the time to answer them all, on various subjects, and did that extensively. Also his assistent Vlad is very helpful in making the whole process very smooth. Overall, I feel confident that I have done a good purchase (with my 2015 X5 xLine), as I feel these guys are very knowledgeable on subjects I am not and combine this knowledge with the right ethics. For me that combination is exactly what I look for in a business partner. And since I feel that confident, I recently bought a second car with Bremn: after breaking down my requirements, we landed on a 2015 BMW 320i in a basic trim. And again, I feel confident that I have bought the right car for my needs, with a very good value/money- ratio. I wish Bremn all the best and more happy customers like myself. Keep up the good work!

It was time for us to upgrade the family hauler, so the long research process began…read more.. Long story short, Arkady got us the car we wanted just under MSRP. Nothing to brag about right? But, in a market where cars are in high demand, supply is drastically low, and are selling for $10k+ over MSRP... thats as good as it gets. We were referred to Arkady through a friend. Hubby has a long history in retail sales, so the car buying experience has always been... eventful, as everyone knows. But now with 2 toddlers in tow, we weren't able to dedicate the months-long research, wheeling and dealing, and multiple dealership trips all over the Bay Area to get what we wanted. So we decided to give Arkady a try. We told Arkady what we wanted. SPECIFICALLY what we wanted. Down to the T. A brand new Platinum Highlander Hybrid in Pearly White. A special order color, in a very sought after trim level and combination. Arkady looked and found us a few, but we weren't ready yet. So we waited. And the aftermath of COVID was in full affect. The dreaded chip shortage. Dealer lots were empty, cars were being bought up like no other, and the market is now flooded with buyers willing to pay top dollar from a supply pool that would disappear with a sneeze. Unfortunately for us, we just couldn't afford to battle with ballers, so we waited, hoping Arkady could find us a deal. Luckily, Arkady was able to place us an order with the Toyota Factory for our specific car, in our specific trim. We waited a few weeks, putting our trust in Arkady, and we finally got the call. The vehicle had landed and was ready for us. Everything we wanted, as we had requested. Even in this market, he was able to get us below the MSRP, which is absolutely mind blowing. He promised, and delivered in spades. His cost of service is worth its weight in gold. The process was painless. He was prompt with his communication and was always straight forward. On delivery day, we met at his office and spent no more than 15 minutes doing paperwork.... to buy a car... that was tailor made to our specification.... at a deal we were more than happy with... We cannot emphasize at how valuable his services were to us, and our family thanks him greatly. Remember the kids? They didn't even have time to even THINK about throwing a tantrum before they were buckled up in the new car and we were on our way. Arkady runs a no-joke, no-frills, get-it-done business. He saved us a lot of time, stress, and yes, money during the car buying process, and has a customer for life. Thank you, Arkady, for all that you've done!

For a…read morebusiness that is geared towards "helping out" young professionals and students (people who are often new to car rentals, car ownership, and car insurance), I'm surprised at the consequences I faced for this lease. I'm deeply disappointed in this experience: one that was marketed as low-frills and economical and how Mohamad was polite and reasonable until the time for the car return came. I understand the pressure of our current economy, but cannot condone taking advantage and emotionally manipulating the exact group of customers that would vulnerable to this. The cars at Smartlease are old and delicate and any minor scuffs or scratches that inevitably happen during your lease are not considered "normal wear and tear." If you are looking to rent from Smartlease, you'd hope you can keep the condition of the car 100% perfect or you would have to pay thousands of dollars in damages out-of-pocket (that amount to over 25% of the rental car's value) or pay deductibles through your insurance which significantly increases your premium for years. In my case, I got trapped in Clause 19 of the lease agreement: "If you have not had the repairs made before the Vehicle is returned at the scheduled end of this lease, you will pay the estimated costs of such repairs, even if the repairs are not made prior to Holder's sale of the Vehicle." I had returned the car already, so Mohamad proxied for me at an auto shop (he told me last minute that there were repairs to be made). He gave me the quote that the auto shop deemed, a quote that was much higher than if I had looked to repair these myself (especially since for some damages, I wouldn't have repaired if it were my own car). Then when I asked for a receipt from the auto shop to make sure my money was actually going towards repairing the car, he sent me Clause 19, making clear that it wouldn't be. Instead, the money would be pocketed by Smartlease. This money is equivalent to the price to rent this particular car for 5 more months, nearly as long as I had the car for. As a student, it was difficult for me to find the funds to pay for the upcharged cost and it caused me a great deal of worry. I felt absolutely exploited. In the final communications with him about the repairs, he gaslighted me and would often say that he's been in this industry for a long time, so these processes are industry standard. He used his position of power, knowing I am a student and have little experience, though I can research and have parents and friends who have more experience with cars to validate his claims. When I asked if I could go to the auto shop with him, so we could speak in person and I could be part of the conversation with the auto shop, he called my request weird and unheard of. He said that it's difficult for a first-timer to speak to an auto shop, implying that I don't know how to speak to an auto shop, then threatened that if I wanted to meet him at the auto shop, he doesn't want to come; instead, I would have to handle all of this by myself. But at that time, I was flying home in a week since school had ended and I still needed a proxy. Ultimately, he did not speak to me kindly. The amount of money I have spent for this lease in total could have bought a used car of similar value to the car I had rented. But if I had chosen to buy a used car, I could have resold it.  If you still want to make a short term car lease, I would strongly recommend to avoid Smartlease and the financial, emotional, and temporal cost and search somewhere else.
