The first visit came just one month after purchase, when the car simply refused to start and had to be towed to the Redwood City location. I was mortified by the entire worn down setup and employees to match unfortunately. It was after that experience I promised myself I would happily drive an hour in any direction so as not to set foot in that depressing, time-capsule of a service department again. Enter, Sunnyvale service department. From drop off, communication (there was an issue with software), offering me a rental, to pick up, the juxtoposition of both locations could not be more of a 180. I walked in to pick up my car (after calling them to send me a Lyft, which they promptly did), and went to the wrong desk. The lady there then walked me maybe 10 feet to the receptionist, when she could have easily just pointed to her because she wasn't that far away from me. The receptionist was lovely, warm, apologetic, and welcoming all at once. I had some questions and was referred to Doug who took care of my vehicle. He was to the point, friendly and helpful. The physical location seemed new, extremely clean and inviting. I sincerely don't understand how this location and RWC could be the same companies. read more

I had to do an emergency batter change on my 10+ year old car and when I called them they were able to book me for the morning after right on the call. Pick up the morning after was easy and the service was done within the time they had mentioned the day before. Communication with the staff was great and while on site to wait for my car there was ample space for me to sit and wait (didnt wait long though). I didn't expect them to do a car wash and vacuum the interior so that was above and beyond my expectations, and super nice of the service team to do. There is frequent early-morning activity starting around 8 AM that includes loud service-related operations, landscapers, and other nuisances that can be clearly heard from surrounding residential properties. When I reached out to the front desk about these concerns, they were not cooperative or willing to meaningfully address the issue. While the dealership may be properly licensed, the day-to-day operations are disruptive and do not appear to take nearby residents into consideration. I had my e-Golf serviced here three times after purchasing it from this dealership, and two of those visits were very disappointing. On my most recent visit, they charged about $300 to diagnose an intermittent warning message and then recommended about $1,800 in repairs to replace two pumps. I declined, did my own research, and found the real issue was just a loose connection that needed to be pushed in properly. Recommending a major repair for something so minor is unacceptable. On an earlier visit, they charged me around $800 for recommended maintenance, but after reviewing it later, I realized several items were not even applicable to an EV. They should have followed the manufacturer's recommended service schedule, which would have cost far less. I went to Sunnyvalke Volkswagen for a 90K service, which for my VW Golf was an oil change, an oil filter change, and tire rotation. Sunnyvale VW knew I was coming in for a 90K service but offered three packages--lets say Brozne, Silver, and Gold--with the minimum at ~$550, all of included lots of extras the 90K service did not require. Of these extras, the air filter change, cabin air filter change, and wiper blade change totaled a whopping $430! The cost of the cabin air filter change was almost the same as I paid for the actual 90K service (no extras). I spent $35 on parts and did the air filter and cabin air filter changes myself; they were not difficult. When you're being overcharged by hundreds of dollars for services you don't need and some you could do yourself, you have to wonder what else is overpriced. Oh yeah, I know; probably the cam lifters at $3665!. read more

My experience was perfect until I was gonna sign papers with financial manger (old guy) He shouldn't be a manager with that attitude and also he gives customers bad feelings about leasing a car and push u to buy the lease protection. I leased a bmw/mercedes and never they forced me to buy a protection plan even they told me it's a good decision because the car is only leased for 24 months. If u leasing a car pls don't listen to him about the protection plan, if u drive good u never a need a new tire at the end of the lease with 15k miles. Probably won't do a business again with him bcz I paid him down payment with 20s and he told me why I am carrying 20s with a Mercedes I have lol wtf? Do I have to give u hundreds? They do not sell replacement locking lug nut keys for your car, but they will happily remove all of your lug nuts with the master key they have and sell you a new set of lug nuts. Generally I've had decent customer service, but today just awful. Checked in over an hour ago and 0 updates on my car. When I ask for one politely I'm met with utter disdain, like I've asked them to move the world for me when all I asked for was an update! Just a touch base would have been nice - even a "I don't have an update, still working on it" would have been greatly appreciated. Finally got an update over an hour after checking in. Caitlin, you are just awful - even if you're slammed, there's no need to be rude. Never bringing my car back here, will find any other shop for service - this is not worth it. Had to get a technician on the call to understand a very simple service request. High prices: $125 to change engine air filter??? $225 to change cabin air filter??? My first try at doing these two items, took me less than 25% of the time their experienced mechanics needed per the quote. I can go on but I won't waste my time. read more

I have never seen an incompetent dealership to this extend! We dropped our car for scheduled service Saturday 1:30PM, we didn't get a single update so we texted call at 4:30PM and no response... We ended up calling up the sales office the only number that pickup to learn that their service department was closed until Monday, I was obviously pissed because we have no car for the weekend. The sales person on the phone was amazing and super helpful! He didn't care that I was frustrated, he just told me that he was sales and if I had a problem with services I should call their manager because he had nothing to do with it and he hung up on me. As much as I want to believe all the 5 star reviews, I can't believe those are true to be honest... this dealership is the most unprofessional I experienced so far. This is my third visit to this Volkswagen and no problems with the first two visits. I dropped off my car Tuesday 1/10 morning in the drive drop box before service was open. Listed on the envelope the oil change, tire rotation and a brake service that was recommended my prior visit to call and confirm with me since I was leaving the car there for 6 days while I was out of town. I already knew my airbag light and bulb-out light was on, thinking they would suggest something about it, but I didn't write it on the envelope. Days go by to Saturday 1/14 when I realized I haven't received a call. I call service to get an update and they tell me that there's no ticket with my car. Then I get transferred to a service advisor, Eric, which he tells me the car was checked in, tagged but no ticket because they didn't know what to do with the car and he didn't have the envelope. So someone lost the envelope and no one called me for 4 days, which my car has a history there and phone number/email is very much active. I let Eric know what I would like done, he suggested the 100,000 mile service which I was more than happy to do. No problem, got a call couple hours later and said it was finished. Come to pick it up Monday morning 1/16, tire rotation wasn't done with the oil change, when I wrote/verbally told him I would like it done. My multipoint inspection listed everything green other than warning lights which were the ones I stated but the dayrunning headlight was out, and prior service they marked suspension in yellow and it was marked green now. I spoke my concerns with Caroline, to make sure someone actually did the multipoint inspection because clearly she could see the bulb was out and my confusion from how the suspension could get better from last service. She had the technician Nick, redo the inspection, rotate my tires, and replace my headlight bulb complementary. Which I very much appreciated. Nick was very helpful clearing up my concern about my suspension from prior service and thankful for that as well. Only reason I would be coming back would be because those two helping me fix what should have been done. read more

My wife and I up from Santa Barbara (288 miles 1 way) to buy an ID.4 from Frank. We had prev reserved one at our local deale, but delivery was delayed many times (not the dealership's fault) so I started looking around for an identical car. I found it at Sunnyvale VW, called their sales line, and luckily I got connected to Frank. I told him about my situation, he made sure the car wasn't already reserved , and then worked with me over the phone and text to get the deal worked out. When my wife and I arrived we got exactly the deal we had agreed to via text, completed all the paperwork, got signed up for Electrify America, and were out the door in under 1.5 hours. Super smooth process , easy to work with, decent online reservation system. 5 stars! Frank was fantastic and the other staff seemed friendly.
