We were visiting Marietta for the first time. A dress shop owner highly recommended Austyns so this was the first place we tried. She was right! We had a delicious meal. He had the NY strip and I had the lamp chops. Plus, we both treated ourselves to martinis and they too were really good! VERY difficult to get a satisfying dirty martini but Austyns knows how to make them!!!! AND it's even harder to get a well prepared, good quality NY strip and we got that too! That is not to diminish the deliciousness of the lamb chops because they were DIVINE! Really amazing in a smallish town. Thank you so much for starting our road trip off on the right foot. Came here for lunch, and I was excited about it because my dining companion had been there before and really liked it, and I had read a lot of good reviews. First off, the menu is a strange mix of Italian and Asian. It was hard to tell what kind of restaurant it is. At lunch time, in an empty restaurant, the music was blaring. We asked the waiter to please turn it down or change it, and the best they could do was turn it down a bit. It didn't help the atmosphere at all. We both had a simple curry -- not bad, the vegetables were nice and fresh, and it was well-executed. However, the flavors were pretty mild and I got what I expected, nothing more, which is too bad. While the service was good and our waitress was attentive, I was a bit disappointed in the standards -- our table was not exactly clean, nor was my cloth napkin, and I was missing a knife. It showed a lack of care in the front of house. Probably I'd give this place another try, because there really aren't many other places to eat in Marietta, and hopefully for dinner it would be a bit different and better. read more

Amazing dinner. We tried the prawns in prosciutto and they were delicious. For and entree we split the NY strip it was cooked perfectly. We had the potato cakes and they were also wonderful. If I reviewed this place about five year ago, it would have gotten a solid 5 from me. Now, it wavers anywhere from a 2.5 - 4 depending on the time you go, and is based mostly on the service. Still, I do try to come here when I'm in town because I'm typically pleased with the food. As far as food goes, it's definitely #2 in Marietta, behind The Buckley House, but that is nothing to scoff at. The food is actually quite good. I'm a fan of the curry dish and the thai chicken pizza (with extra sauce!). I'm not sure if the desserts are homemade or not (I recall they used to NOT be), but then again I'm not sure if I've actually had dessert here. Try the prawn and prosciutto appetizer; it's really good. Oh, and that curtain before the host stand, it's really dumb. And kind of annoying, especially when you are trying to get it out of your way when getting a few pizzas and entrees to go. read more

Lately I have been less impressed with Austyn's. A few of the dishes have come out not as appetizing as I remember earlier experiences being. Now that my wife and I have tried a few more dishes the biggest disappointment is that this restaurant suffers from the same problem that the rest of the area does... that is- it is next to impossible to get good seafood here. The tuna we ordered tasted and looked just like the cryo-vac frozen, artificially pink colored tuna steak that you can find at any grocery store. read more

Stopped by the other night with my wife first time trying out Austin's. Must say we were very pleased. I had the scallops which were quite good. My wife had the rack of lamb which was amazing. The 2 star review would have been in the 4 star range if the service wasn't so poor. The food is very good! Our waiter was very "off"! Drink order: Coworker 1 asks waiter if they have white zinfandel and instead of replying "yes" and asking him which brand of wine, the waiter says "yes", runs away abruptly and just brings back whatever white zinfandel he decided on. The same thing happened later when I ordered a PInot Grigio, he didn't offer any options or bring back the wine list. I am SURE they had more than 1 type of Pinot Grigio and White Zinfandel, the wine list we orginally had on the table was a 2 pages long. -While ordering food, I asked the waiter for water when he had a minute (he brought water for my 2 colleagues but not me-really?). He immediately said 'Yes, I'll get it now, and just ran away from the table literally mid-sentence in the middle of our order. I was the only one who had ordered at this point. What kind of waiter runs away from the table to get water in the middle of taking an order? Can he not hold a thought in his head for 2+seconds? This behavior was downright odd. Food: 1 coworker ordered med-rare filet, 2nd ordered the breaded italian chicken breast dish and I ordered the California pizza. The two entrees were served to my colleagues a good 10-15 minutes before my pizza arrived. Needless to say, my table was almost done with their meals before mine even arrived. This is completely inexcusable for any restaurant to do. The kitchen and the wait staff need to be on the same page. If you know a pizza is going to take 15 mins, don't put it in at the same time you fire the steaks that only take 5 mins. It was ridiculous that I sat there not eating for almost 15 minutes. I blame both the waiter and the kitchen for being so off on this. Really-the food is very good but the waiter/experience was so bad that I can't favorably review this restaurant because this guy was so irritating. But if you do go, get the filet. read more

A really good meal in a nice place. There are not a lot of places in Marietta that are paying attention to the details of presentation and good quality. I can't think of a better place to eat in town. Austyns is not a chain - they are paying attention to the details. Entrees were of high quality. Wine list was deep and varied. Probably one of the classiest restaurant's in the Mid-Ohio Valley, Austyn's is still not top dollar. The food has an "french-asian" twist and some meals are worth a try. Growing up in the area I have eaten here a few times and would say 4 out of 5 times it has been a undesirable experience. I used to work down the street and at there for lunch once and we found some undesirable hair in my friends meal. I ate there for an anniversary with my then boyfriend and he got sick from undercooked seafood. To be fair, we have had some delicious meals there. We had a birthday dinner that was catered and the food was great. I wouldn't rate it above 3 stars because I've certainly had better. read more

We shared house salad with ginger dressing, (a bit thin for me) but the lamb chops, seasonal veggies and wasabi mashed potatoes made up for it, which were done perfectly. We frequently eat here for work lunches. The ambiance is a little ostentatious, but the establishment totally makes up for it with the food, which is well presented, tasty and well thought out. The service ranges from "good" to "very good", being prompt and attentive while avoiding sliding over the line into intrusive. If you are looking for a bit of the "upper scale" for lunch or dinner, I would recommend Austyn's 100%. read more

We enjoyed our meal here but were disappointed that they did not have prime rib on Saturday night. That is the reason we went there was so my husband could enjoy the prime rib. Probably one of the nicest restaurants available within an hour of Senecaville OH. 50 minute drive for us, pretty easy to find. Nice location on the main drag. Promptly greeted by hostess. We made a reservation but the gentleman who made it did not speak English very well, so our name was ridiculously butchered! After that was straightened up, we were seated. Waitress was nice, water and wine brought quickly. Tables behind and across from us received bread, we did not. Ordered several appetizers to try...Truffle Beef was caked with cheese but the beef was tasty. "Prawns" weren't really...tiny shrimp with apple and prosciutto. Tasty but not memorable. Mediterranean Shrimp was good but not something we would order again. If pasta and carbs are your thing, this is probably a good choice. Wine list subpar...wine glasses were the typical cheap restaurant type. In review, a nice change from anything Cambridge has to offer but we are spoiled by great choices in Columbus! We went to Marietta for the day and this was the worst restaurant ever the bread was stale the meat on the club was almost bad, a simple hamburg took over an hour. out of a table of 3 it was over an hour and none of the the three orders was right. Austyn's has been my favorite restaurant in this area for years. With that being said, we had a very poor experience last Saturday evening. We waited over 90 minutes for our entrees which were served cold, burnt and without essential elements. The server disappeared for long periods of time but was pleasant. We ordered beer, wine, drinks, an appetizer, entrees and desserts. Between the four of us, we spent over $275. We should have had a very upscale, eloquent and satisfying meal, unfortunately, that's not what we got. read more

Excellent restaurant, it was really a big city dining experience in a small town. The space was very attractive, the service was point on, and the food was perfectly prepared. The food was creative, the steak I had an interesting sauce and the flavor was just right and did not overpower the flavor of the meat. The wasabi mashed potatoes were very good. The cost of the meal with a draft beer and tip was under $40 which was an great value. Our first time here and everything was delicious all of the ingredients in our dishes complimented each other. If we come back to Marietta we will stop in again. We had spinach artichoke dip, crabroll, as a the ppetizers both great tasting. The salad was great honey mustard and ranch both delicious. It was a few minutes after 9pm on a Wednesday night. We had driven quite a way after attending a wake in Harrisvlle. Having been treated extremely rudely at another restaurant who advertised closing at 10, but refused to let us through the door at 9:03, we decided on Austyn's. The sign on the door read closing time was 9:30...it was 9:06...we hoped for the best. Enter Matty! He rushed to greet us with a smile on his face and was more than happy to serve us. We enjoyed a fabulous meal, excellent courteous service and found a new place to frequent. Paula had a ribeye special with roasted Yukon potatoes and Brussel sprouts cooked with pancetta. I had the Thai pasta with peanut sauce and added salmon. Everything was delicious, including the soft, hot rolls. Matty was friendly and attentive. We took desert to go as we were too full to eat it. We had a great time dining here while visiting Marietta. It was a tad nicer than a regular "casual" ambiance we were expecting, so we sat at the bar. Service was great! We ordered the crab balls for an app and they were more like egg rolls- still yummy. My date ordered the blackened swordfish which was VERY flavorful!! It was so good I barely got a bite before he ate it all up! I ordered the NY strip.. Cooked perfectly to order.. For a pretty decent price! Both meals came with salad, veggies, and potatoes. (Oh and I cannot forget the rolls.. Something different about them but they were DELICIOUS) Quite a meal.. With leftovers! I recommend this cute downtown place for sure! read more

Austyn's is one of the classier restaurants in town, although not super high-priced. The bartenders are the most professional in town, and this is the place to go if you want a martini. You never have to tell the bartender how to make your favorite drink here. The wait staff is also very professional. The ambiance is warm and intimate. I wouldn't recommend Austyn's if you're needing a quick lunch. Although the lunch prices are good, the pace is slow, so try them for a leisurely lunch experience. Their Szechuan Shrimp and Scallops is one of my favorite dishes. Their specials are always excellent. The only thing I've had that I really didn't like was their sushi, which isn't on their regular menu anyway. read more

I am from Virginia but this is my go to place whenever I am in Marietta staying in the Lafayette hotel across the street. They have some classy food here. My favorite is the New York strip steak medium rare. And it is almost always medium rare, something many restaurants can't get right. And their wasabi mashed potatoes can't be beat read more

Used to be a great place a few years ago. Lately they are a bit too short. Air Conditioning has apparently been 'broken' for quite a while, resulting in the place being freezing! About a year ago we heard this excuse during an evening dinner with about 20 family members, today we heard this story again at lunch. It's about 55 degrees at our table. This place is great for an anniversary dinner and something romantic or even to take your family. The atmosphere is very quiet and it's quite dark in the restaurant, but the food is phenomenal. The spinach and artichoke dip is to die for. Not a ton of choices though with the food, so that's why I gave it a 4/5. The portion sizes are also way too small for what you actually pay for.
