Not managed well the day we visited 1/3/20. There was a large group seated shortly after we were seated which was about 16 people. Our waitress was responsible for them as well as us and overwhelmed with just dealing with their needs. Needless to say when we received our food, our order was not correct. The waitress never checked to see if our meals were what we ordered. I mentioned to the waitress delivering the dishes that our order was wrong. She was going back to check with the cook but brushed us off. The wasabi mashed potatoes was just the regular mashed potatoes. If you have ate here before you can easily tell that the potatoes were not flavored with wasabi. After about 20 min and everything but the potatoes left on our plate, I had to stop another waiter just passing by for the manager. He acted like he didn't even know who that person was. We did receive complementary drinks from the bartender and I left a huge tip for the waitress, but that wasn't the point. I want to make sure that in the future patrons are treated as a valued customer. Be aware that this establishment expects top dollar for their service and our experience was less valued of that from the Brewery next door. I would eat here again based on circumstances and our waitress being overwhelmed by the large group. read more

Although the atmosphere is a good attempt at European, the place is looking a little rundown so I was nervous about what the quality of the food would be. Thankfully, I was wrong to be concerned. Were it possible to give less I would. Service was bad. One member of our party ordered a drink before his meal and had to go up to the bar and get it himself. Another never received her meal with the rest of it. We had brought in a cake to celebrate a graduation and were told after the meal, rather than before, that there would be a charge of $4.00 a person charge for cutting the cake, Since this was in addition to over $200 for the meal {less tip} we declined. I visit Marietta about four or five times a year. Quaint little town and this restaurant is always my first stop. It's clean, servers are friendly, and the food has always been excellent. Steaks are cooked and seasoned to perfection and I always get the Seafood Portofino. Even at lunch, the portion is huge and it's all I need to eat for the rest of the day. Went for an early Mother's Day dinner when visiting. Service was good, allowed us to enjoy our food without being rushed even though restaurant was busy and people waiting. The two who ordered steak found them cooked to perfection, the same with the tuna. The Mediterranean Pasta was made with fresh pasta and had the right amount of olive and basil oil. We opted for dessert to go and were not disappointed with our choices of Peanut Butter Pie and Salted Caramel. The Peanut Butter Pie was light and a perfect late night snack. So good! I take my girlfriend here for date night all the time. Pricey, but totally worth it!! You get a lot of food for what you pay for.

We stopped in with no reservations and ended up finding a couple of seats at the bar for dinner. The staff was excellent and even opened a bottle of sake to let us have a taste. We decided not to order an appetizer and just have a drink, dinner and desert. The portions were generous and left us with no room for desert. I had seafood pasta and she had a shrimp dish. We go to Austyn's for our birthday lunch and have always enjoyed it. We are from Charleston and the drive is worth it. However, we had lunch there yesterday and was less than pleased for these reasons. Both lunches had an underlying flavor of propane. The Thia Pasta was heavy on the oil and garlic but light on the peanut flavor. The bread pudding had hot spots from being heated in the microwave....some bites were cold, some were blistering hot. We were very disappointed in the quality of the food so will not be making the 1 1/2 hour drive there again to celebrate our birthdays with a $75 lunch. Our server was attentive but did not provide adequate setups when seated, e.g., did not have a spoon to stir my hot tea or a saucer to place the used tea bag....not a biggie but combined with the other issues, seemed like one! Mixed bag on first try. November Wednesday nite. Staff was needs some work. Waiter didn't know if my common beer was available. Didn't offer any suggestions when he returned with a "No". Offered a surprising special of different wild game dishes. I'm not a game fan, so I tried the Prosciutto Chicken with a basil cream sauce. The chicken itself was overdone, on the tough side, and not too tasty. The Parma ham and basil cream sauce lent the only real flavor of the dish. The warm rolls, according to the waitress, "come in a big box from Gordon Food Service." I'd say that describes the whole meal. The Lemon Cake for dessert was just simply a waste of calories. Dry as cardboard, it probably came from the same box as the rolls. The highlight of the dinner were rosemary roasted potatoes. They were very good. I'm not trying to dis the restaurant, but I'd venture that most of the entire dinner came right out of a box from GFS and was simply assembled: as opposed to being made with love and passion that this kind of price tag deserves. Oh well - live and learn. There are other places to try in Marietta. read more

I have been to Austyn's at least 10 times over the past two years, sometimes with guests, but most time as a solo business traveler. I have found them to be a consistently enjoyable place to go with good food and always pleasant service. For prices that are only moderately more than chain restaurants, you can get much higher quality meat and fish dishes, with all the salads and sides, as well as professionally made drinks and a wider choice of wine. Nothing special going on here food was ok,service was mediocre. During our visit the staff must have dropped silverware on the floor 25 times,very annoying listening to it bouncing of the old wooden floors. Opted out on desert since it took the waiter 15 minutes to come back after asking if we wanted to see the deserts of the day. read more

Don't bother coming to this place if you have children. I went there with my 2 year old son and he made some noise(a yell or two not a meltdown or anything like that), and the bartender comes to our table telling us we have to keep him quiet because other customers are threatening to leave! Mind you this place is just a restaurant bar. No other restaurant has ever been this rude to me and my family and I can guarantee we won't be back. The food had also went downhill since our previous visit. The Buckley house is better food and much more courteous service. read more

Austyn's is my favorite restaurant in the MOV. They offer great food that you won't find anywhere else in the area. Although a tad on the pricey side, it is worth it! Before I became totally gluten free, I would eat 2 baskets of their bread in one sitting. I'm not kidding. They have the best bread ever! They don't have many gluten free options for me now, but every time I'm in town I stop by and grab a bite to eat. I definitely recommend Austyn's for a date night or special occasion too. read more

Food is very very very good here... Simple downside is common courtesy from the wait staff and bar tender. This is such a simple thing to achieve. Leads to me to wonder how long it will be before the food begins to suffer as well. After 10 minutes someone came over and said has anyone waited on you yet? .. And this is a small place. read more

While on our trip to Marietta Ohio for the river boat festival, we decided to eat at Austyn's. From the outside appearance it looked like the average joint for American food. What we discovered was a bistro restaurant with outstanding food and service. We loved Austyn's some much that we went back for lunch the very next day. If I ever visit Marietta again Austyn's is on my list of places to visit. read more

I am an avid golfer and while there were twenty of us in Marietta this past weekend golfing, three of my friends and myself started talking with the front desk lady at the Comfort Inn and asked her where there might be a nice quiet place to have dinner and she recomended Austyn's on front street. We were met at the front door by a young lady that treated us like royalty and showed us to the last available table in the restaurant. Our waitress was a very nice lady that greated us with a big smile and telling us her name then asking if we needed anything to drink. We of course responded and the whole evening was just a great time, delicious food, desert," especially the chocolate cake" and talking with our server about golf and her avid golfing husband. We go to Marietta for three days of golf and food every spring and you can bet that we will return to Austyn's again, and again. Almost forgot something. I have not eaten at Austy's in Marietta but have done do in Ironton and it was always a very good experience. I recommended it to many people. Nowe they have closed and canot honor their gift certificates until reopening in Ironton again. They should have told their staff so as to not sale non redeemable gifts in the Ironton restaurant. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would considering we weren't given the opportunity to sit and eat. I called and made reservations early in the afternoon for dinner for our anniversary. Since it was our anniversary the gentleman offered us a table by the fireplace as an extra special touch. When we arrived we found that they had not taken down the reservation. The man I had spoke with was there and remembered all the details from our phone conversation, but hasn't written it down. I understand mistakes happen, but they did not make an effort to correct their mistake. There were open tables, but the hostess said they had been reserved. They offered to let us sit at the bar but there were no seats available except 2 at the end and the area was being used to dry dishes. We decided to go to DaVinci's In Williamstown. We were sat quickly by a friendly host, had a great waitress, and top quality food. Thank you for saving my anniversary DaVinci's!!! read more
