What a "unique" spot in my hometown. The atmosphere was... a lot. And it had a bit of a musty smell. But they weren't busy at all. So we got really great service. Thankfully all the food was great. My parents and I all got a different type of fish and they were each cooked/breaded to perfection. Not sure I'd come back just for the food as the space was just cold and dark which is hard to imagine with all the kitschy beach things around. Stumbled into this place for a late lunch based on a Google and Yelp search. It looked like the kind of funky local joint that my party and I usually enjoy. And we had a good experience here, it was just a little odd. It was a weird time-- late for lunch, early for dinner and they gave us the lunch menu. We were one of maybe 3 occupied tables. We had questions. Our gothy server was new(ish) and couldn't answer any of them. Things like how certain sandwiches were server and what came with them. It was really difficult to read the menus because it was really, really dark inside. So we ended up with wings. Always wings. They were great. Fresh and crispy. We got some kind of breadsticks with "tuscan sauce" which was really good. I'd like to try wings in that tuscan sauc . My friend got an Italian sandwich. The hidden GEM - The Lost Anchor. Across the street from Sam's Club at the traffic Light. Ambiance outstanding boat thyme. Met the owner outside putting up lights for the season- very nice guy. Food outstanding - Wife had the Salmon and I had the fish and chips.. Huge portions. Bar has large selection of anything you want. We returned to eat there again - hamburgers are half a pound and delicious. Waiter was nice and friendly- efficient. Will return again with friends. This is a good to go place. The only complaint I would have is it took a while for the staff to approach me... but then found out they have had a plumbing issue (fixed now) Ok the good stuff Emma, Tristan and the owner Rick are awesome they are very friendly and inviting ... food was awesome and the pours are generous!!!! I really was hoping we found a gem. Unfortunately, this was liter one of the most concerning restaurant visits I've ever had. Not one of three meal were even warm let alone cooked. Most concerning was the uncooked fish. The only hot food that came out for our party was prepared in a fryer. Safest bet if you have to go there. We stopped in on a Wednesday night at 5:30 and were one of two tables in the entire place. The meal was mediocre at best. We are appetizer people and couldn't find even one that got our attention. We settled on breadsticks that were utterly plain and sadly $9.99 for 8( plus $2 if you wanted the good dipping sauce.) Nothing on the menu really stood out as something I just had to try. I had the Lemon Pepper Salmon which had pretty good flavor. The rosemary potatoes were soggy and seemed to have been made quite a long time before I ordered them. Husband had the catfish special and said it was "meh". Our server was super attentive. The ambiance was weird. It's on the water but not a single window to see the view? We went there because we heard they had really good fried fish filets. The breading was thick and the fish almost non-existent. So we swapped it out for some large fried shrimp, but the breading was really thick on them too. The tails popped right off and there was a tiny bit of shrimp in them. We opened them all, in case there were just a few flukes, but they were all that way. If we go back, it surely won't be for the food. The live music was really good! read more

We were greeted and seated promptly. It was not crowded but we sat in the bar to help the staff. It took a minute to get waited on and then it took a few to get our meal. Food was tasty but served Luke warm. Chicken was tough but had a good flavor. Tuna came without the bed of potatoes and veggies until we mentioned the menu. The owner was very kind and comped the meals. We will give them another chance. read more

I'll admit I had read some not so flattering reviews from other SM sites, but a trusted friend recommended it, so we decided to take a chance. SO HAPPY we did! THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS! We ordered fried clams and the fish and chip special. Huge portions and everything was hot, well-prepared, and nicely presented. We were super impressed with the house-made coleslaw, cocktail sauce and tartar sauce. Service was quick and super friendly. We ended up over tipping a bit because 20% of the reasonable menu prices just wasn't enough compensation for the level of service we enjoyed. The place is huge inside and decorated like a fun cross between a beach house, a tiki bar, and a sea shanty. Very clean. Comfortable booths. Cute decor. Even had a volleyball (Willllsoooooonn!) We visited around 8:30 pm on a Friday night and there was no one else at a table. A few folks at the bar. Their kitchen is small, so I could see there being a longer wait if they were at seating capacity, but it really worked out great for us! We can't wait to go back and try out more dishes! Overall, I'd highly recommend The Lost Anchor. We paid $200 for a "fancy" dinner in Marietta last week and it wasn't even HALF as good as this dinner at less than a quarter of the price. We were seated right away and our waitress was kind and attentive. The atmosphere was good and there was plenty of lighting. The interior was reminiscent of an ocean-side seafood restaurant and was just what we were looking for. My husband had Mahi Mahi and wasabi potatoes- both were good. My salmon, broccoli and rosemary potatoes were very good. The salmon was a little burned on the bottom, but was still tasty and moist. We look forward to coming back. read more

I have been to The Lost Anchor once because my friend really likes the food and knows the owners. I'm sorry to say but I was not impressed with what I ordered which was supposed to be a flat bread pizza which was a cracker with pizza sauce and cheese. My main reason for never going back is that they charge customers a fee for using a credit card for their purchase. There are many places I like better that don't charge me to eat at their restaurant. read more

This place is great! It's a family owned restaurant, which you don't see too much of in the Parkersburg area- especially in Vienna. They have a good variety of food from burgers, pizza, seafood, and more! My personal favorite is the fish and chips meal. The pollock fish is DELICIOUS and the fries are perfectly seasoned and crunchy. The staff is really efficient and kind, and the owner is always there helping out and being involved as well! read more

My wife and I returned to our hometown of Vienna for a couple of weeks from south Florida. Yesterday we saw the sign for the Lost Anchor Restaurant down by the river. We decided to give it a try. What a wonderful experience. Rick has done a fantastic job with this restaurant. It has a terrific outdoor venue and a great side room for large groups. My wife and I ordered the chicken pecan salad and shared the buffalo chicken flatbread. It was delicious. Our friends ordered the pork chops and they were out of this world. Linda is a terrific server, and our only regret is the were not here longer so that we can enjoy this terrific restaurant. If you haven't given it a try, please go by. I came here the day before thanksgiving to see DJ Correct and Mixar with my friend and sister (who is twenty) and the owner gave my sister a wristband and let us in. Today (NYE), we came back to see DJ Correct and we were judged by the owner before we barely walked in the building. He accused us of having fake ID's and was not very respectful. There was nothing advertised about the event being 21+. I understand not being allowed to let her in, but I won't be coming back after the way the owner acted toward us. read more

We try to support local businesses and have been there 3 times. Each time it continues to get worse. We have had the catfish, mahi mahi, ahi tuna, and smothered chicken. Each meal was barely edible. The owner is really nice and I feel bad for her, but the food is horrible. Their cocktail sauce tastes like marinara. I thought marinara was an odd choice to pair with fried oysters ( which were good) until they said it was cocktail sauce. Hopefully, they will change their menu soon. read more

Have seen some not so good reviews so my wife and were hesitant to try it. Turned out it was a good experience. Got there early and sat at the bar. The bartender was really nice and helped me find a beer I liked. My wife joined me and had a very nice pour of wine. We dined outside and it was nice. I had the blackened catfish and it was delicious. The hush puppies were not great but I've had them down south where they are fresh made and right out of the fryer so maybe I'm spoiled. My wife is a vegetarian and they changed the baked spaghetti sauce to marinara for her and she loved it. The Cesar salad did have a bit too much dressing. Our wait person was friendly, attentive and helpful. Couldn't ask for more. Maybe not five star dining but better than the factory places that are about your only choice in Vienna. Second and last time there. First time I figured the terrible food was because they were new, but second time was worse. The oysters tasted like they bought them from Walmart and tried to fry them without even draining them. The cole slaw was stringy like melted cheese and I have no idea why. My friend got smoky salmon and said it was more smoke than salmon. She said she wasn't sure what they smoked it with but she assumed a tire fire. They could have disguised their terrible food with the margarita I ordered but it had the taste and the same feeling as a glass of country time lemonade. I give 2 stars because the waitress was really nice, but the food gets a zero. read more

The Lost Anchor lost me at overpriced and underwhelming food. This may explain why we were the only ones in the restaurant when we arrived at 6:00 PM. Another couple did come in and quickly left once they saw the menu prices. I got the clam basket, and at first glance, it looks impressive until you realize that it's mostly fries with a small amount of clams laid on the top. Which stunk because the clams were decent and not chewy. I changed out the cole slaw for a caesar salad, it was swimming in dressing and I couldn't eat it. Caesar dressing goes a long way in flavor. Extra isn't needed. I would highly suggest putting the dressing on the side. I will say that the hushpuppies were some of the best I've had! They were moist and had a good flavor. A tip from someone who visits a lot of different cities and patrons a lot of different restaurant settings, if you are charging $20+ a dinner, and classify yourself as "classy", please use matching tableware! Don't use dishes that look like they came from a thrift store or a hole in the wall bar. Not that those aren't OK, but only for an $8 burger in a place that you would expect it. Our server was new but very pleasant, and the bartender was nice as well. There was a gentleman really talking up the place and the entertainment. He was really trying hard to self promote. He's so great at bringing in bands, been doing it for so many years, blah blah blah. Don't try so hard! If you and the place are as great as you claim, let it sell itself. Don't be that annoying, self promoting person who doesn't let the patrons have a peaceful meal. I had high hopes for this place, and it turned out that they have even higher hopes and dreams of being something that they are not. Yet.Time will tell. read more
