There was some discrimination there when no reservations were needed at the time and others behind us were seated, but when were there with someone well known in town there was no problems then. My husband ordered rack of lamb dinner, amazing. I ordered the filet, super tender but... next time I'd like them to hold the gravy. In my opinion filet mignon doesn't need anything other than salt. My first time to Marietta I wanted a good steak and seafood. I researched online and this place was listed and I'm so thankful. I had the black and bleu ribeye with lobster tail with side salad, Mac n cheese and sautéed vegetables. BEST STEAK I have ever had!!!! Everything was on my BEST list! Even salad had curled slivers of carrots on top. Presentation and taste were 110% the quality and service is consistent every time ! I'm originally from the Marietta area, and I have eaten at Austyn's a few times. I always knew they had the best spinach artichoke dip, but I never appreciated how good their food was until this past weekend. When visiting Marietta, my go-to spots tend to be The Galley, Buckley House and Spagna's. Austyn's will now be added to my list of favorite Marietta restaurants. After coming back from Florida, I would have never expected to have the BEST Chilean Seabass in Ohio! Austyn's ranks 7th in Ohio for Best Seafood and deservingly so. Chef Phi prepared a parmesan encrusted seabass paired with risotto, tomatoes and asparagus. It was flavorful and delicious. The seabass was a special, but it should be added to the menu. Also, each meal comes with a salad and rolls. The rolls are incredible! I believe the rolls are deep fried, but they are worth the splurge. All of Austyn's desserts are freshly made on site. I couldn't help but treat myself to the Chocolate Cheesecake Cupcake. The only recommendation I have for Austyn's is that they need to tell their patrons the price of their nightly specials. Customers should not have to ask the server the price of the special. It should be stated when the server is going over the menu. I do not think that we could have done any better on our trip to Marietta,Ohio than we did at Austyn's. We were there on business and this restaurant was conveniently located right across the street from our performance venue and hotel. I walked in there at about 4:00 in the afternoon and they were glad to see us and seated us immediately. The tables, the decor, and the ambience were perfect. They play fabulous smooth jazz and modern funk music in this restaurant. The service was delightfully spot on and the chef in this restaurant is worthy of at least one Michelin star if not more. It was truly that good. We had three of us in our party and everyone was impressed with the entire experience. I would highly recommend this establishment as the perfect restaurant for date night. I started with a salad that was as fresh and delicious as any I have ever had. A salad, is a salad, is a salad at the next 99 places you go to but this one was exceptionally prepared and presented as you can see in the photos. For the entree, we did the special of the evening which was a lobster tail and crab cake combination that was prepared and cooked to perfection. As good as any meal I have had in a restaurant in the last twenty years. The lobster tail literally melted in your mouth. The crab cake was so fresh and delicious and it tasted like it came right from the gulf coast or the coast of New England. My wife had a piece of perfectly cooked prime rib that she enjoyed as well. I will never be able to say enough about the outstanding culinary experience that we had at this restaurant. One of my closest friends who was with us and is as critical about restaurant food as anyone I have ever known, made three positive comments about how much he enjoyed the experience that he had. The bill for our meal was outrageous. We all had one drink with our dinners and the bill was $86.00! There is no place on this earth that I know of that you can get a meal that good and pay a price that reasonable. I relocated from New York to North East Ohio 5 years ago. We travelled this past weekend to Marietta. I must say Austyn's is the best restaurant I've eaten at since leaving NY. Food and service was wonderful. Starting the meal with warm fresh bread. Cocktails with delicious stuffed blue cheese olives. Ahi Tuna and European marinated tenderloins were our choices for dinner. Perfectly cooked to our liking and both dishes were fabulous. Although not convenient to home we will be coming this way again and certainly will come here again. This place is a gem! read more

My husband and I tried to go here a few months ago. When we showed up there was literally only one table with people, but the hostess asked us if we could eat in an hour because it was supposed to be packed in an hour due to reservations. She seated us, and we waited for 15 minutes for a server to take item drink order. As we waited two different groups of people were seated (without reservations because we could hear them ask for a table), their orders were taken - all while we were still waiting to place our drinks. The hostess and servers obviously saw us, yet no one came to our table. After finally having enough of being ignored for 15-20minutes we got up and left. We just happen to stop by this fine eatery on the way back to Michigan from North Carolina on 5/4/2019. We had a wonderful meal and excellent, friendly service from Cheryl (i hope we remembered and spelled her name correctly), If there was one downside it was the very loud boisterous crowd 10 top in the front of the restaurant that distracted from the wonderful dining experience, this is by no way a reflection of the restaurant itself! My wife just beamed as she studied everything. -Outstanding salads. Generous and fresh and full of flavor. -A very diverse menu. Choices abound. -My wife has a few dietary restrictions but her requests were treated as if she were a visiting dignitary. Did I mention superb service? -"Lotsa flavor going on here" said my wife. Decided to visit Marietta, OH one weekend--never been and didn't research much beforehand. There aren't too many dinner options on Front Street but I'm glad I was somewhat forced to choose Austyn's (even though their purple neon out front kept making me second guess.) Overall it's intimate, with a few booths in the back, tables up front and bar seating, which is what I chose. I got a gin martini (nicely prepared) and the Yelper-recommended Prosciutto Prawns. The prawns were meaty but not much flavor in this appetizer--apple slices really do nothing here. The dipping sauce a little too spicy. For my entree I went with the Szechwan Shrimp and Scallops (sautéed Shrimp, Scallops and Vegetables with a spicy Szechwan sauce for $17.) Nice, large chunks of broccoli, sweet red peppers and zucchini and a lot of seafood. My mistake was that I chose their mashed sweet potatoes for my side. I know. Why did I do that--crazy combo. Yet, they were so so good. Tasted like they had marshmallow creme in them? Second mistake was I ate too much seafood. Should have mixed it up a little. The side salad was good; the rolls a little greasy, or something. Wasn't a fan of their flavor. Sadly I was too full for dessert but had plenty of leftovers. Speaking of, those mashed sweet potatoes would have made a nice dessert by themselves. They don't have Sunday brunch (but they should!!!) and when I stopped back in during their lunch to double check this fact the waiter kindly told me the places in the area that did and how to get to them. That was extremely nice of him, especially since he didn't know I ate there the night prior. Overall I recommend Austyn's but make reservations. I have some business going on down here, so decided to stay a couple days and visit with my BMF (birth mother forever) who is a world renowned Professor at nearby Marietta College. Which is, in fact, a wonderful liberal arts school with a beautiful campus--I may have even considered attending back in the day had the school not been located in my hometown. So, we went here last night. There's no parking, so just park on the street--parking is free down here and always close (within a block). It was a sultry 90 degree evening with absolutely no breeze but it was quickly cooling down as the sun started to set so we thought about sitting outside on one of the sidewalk tables. There are a couple of tables outside where you can sit and eat, BUT--you can't have alcohol on the sidewalk tables, apparently. So, we sat inside at what happens to be my favorite table, nestled in a back corner of the restaurant by the fireplace (it wasn't on, but it's still cool). The atmosphere in here is trendy, but anything goes in Marietta--there was a guy in a 'beater and running shorts at the bar. It's decorated in soft tones and the lighting is dim and it's set up galley style with a bar running alongside the second half. It's been the same for years and is probably due for an update--it's more on the late 90's style of decorating than what's in vogue now, but still looks good and has been kept up appropriately. Drinks: I tried to start with an Americano, but they don't have Campari here. Next I tried to order a Manhattan with rye whiskey, but they don't have rye here. So, I ended up getting a Manhattan with Maker's Mark. It was awesome--super strong and a healthy pour. About 5 ounces of pure Maker's Mark on the rocks. Delicioso. Next up I had a glass of wine--it was good, but not memorable, I asked the waitress to pick something out for my steak because I didn't feel like having to read the menu. I actually know the waitress, personally, and she's awesome and I trusted her judgment, for which she delivered. Service: great. No problems--actually had a good time interacting throughout the meal with Brandi, our waitress. Starters: I started with prawns prosciutto. These are a favorite of mine--they are giant prawns along with an apple slice wrapped in prosciutto and grilled. They are served alongside a creamy, spicy coconut sauce that is 2DF (to die for). I think they are $7 and this is an appetizer that in Columbus would go for double the price. In fact, the entire menu is same quality as a nice big city restaurant but literally half the price. I only have one issue with these--I've always thought they would be better if the prosciutto they used was a thinner piece, as sometimes its so thick it detracts from other flavors, as prosciutto is pretty salty. Next up I had some shrimp bisque. The shrimp in the bisque was plentiful and tasty. The actual bisque part was good, but lacking something. It was more like a creamy tomato soup than "bisque" that I am used to. But, it was alright. Salad: entrees come with a MASSIVE sized delicious salad. The dressings here are homemade and delicious. I actually took my salad home with me because I wanted to save room for dinner, and I just ate it for lunch. I had the homemade blue cheese dressing and it rocked. However, this time around there were no onions in the salad, which disappointed me. Entree: I had a filet, medium rare. It was a perfect medium rare, a generous 8 oz cut and served alongside some veggies and wasabi mashed redskin potatoes. Everything was great, except the veggies. The veggies were blanched broccoli and green wax beans. Not good--I need something done with my vegetables. I'd actually prefer to have raw broccoli as opposed to blanched. That's it. Just about everything here is great. The only issues I've run in to are with an occasional consistency problem--for example, there's a dish here I like called "Austyn's Chicken" and sometimes I have this it's not as good as the last (ie, less sauce, not as crispy, flavor inconsistent). I've also noticed steaks can vary in quality, but not so much that it would detract me from eating here. This is a wonderful place and an amazing value. I have never had a bad dinner at Austyn's. I went last night with my dad and had the special: a peppercorn-encrusted filet topped with goat cheese, and served with sauteed mushrooms, a red wine risotto, and asparagus. It was SO good. The filet was perfectly cooked and had a great flavor. The goat cheese was a nice addition. The risotto, not easily made, had the perfect texture and tasted great. My dad ordered the gouda-topped pork chop and really liked it, too. It is a HUGE bone-in chop served with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli. I've also had the duck and it has always been perfect and is relatively inexpensive. The spring rolls, pizza, and Thai pasta are always good choices. The thing that amps Austyn's up to a five-star review for me is the service and overall experience. The wait staff is always extremely friendly and quick to recommend or customize a dish. The atmosphere is great and it's always nice to take a stroll through Marietta after your belly gets full. In the mid-Ohio valley there are few fine dining options and Austyn's is always a solid one. read more

I love this spot quaint but classy spot in Marietta! My best gal pal and I came here to catch up over a few drinks and apps this past Friday and had an amazing experience all around. We ordered the crab cake and prosciutto wrapped prawn apps with our wine - both were fantastic! I liked the playful addition of the apple slice wrapped within the prosciutto.. I didn't think the flavors would jive when I read the menu description but I was surprised as how well it paired with the smokiness of the prosciutto and the brininess of the prawn. Oh and the prawns were huge! Added bonus! As you may imagine, the apps definitely filled us both up so unfortunately we didn't get to try out any others. A gentleman at the bar gave us a tip that the desserts there are the best of town and he was even nice enough to treat us to some Lemon cake which was gobbled up in maybe 3 minutes? (wasn't I just saying we were full from the apps?) YES. That's how yummy it was. Coming from Phoenix - Scottsdale, I had reverse sticker shock when I looked over the menu prices. My total bill for 2 glasses of wine and my share of the apps was $24! I stopped in on a Monday night around 7:30, at the end of June. I never have particularly high hopes on a Monday night. There was a couple eating outside on the sidewalk, another two couples and a group of three inside. Not bad for the day and time of evening. They can seat 17 or so tables and have a full bar in the back. The noise level was low for the most part but I could see that it could get noisy with a few rowdy people. The service was great. Another surprise on a Monday. I had the special Seafood Grill. It was $34.00 and came with bread (very good), a nice salad. I ordered the house Asian dressing. (very very good). The main dish had a white Keys fish on the left with a citrus relish and a duck breast with a bourbon sauce on the right. The fish was very very good and the duck was amazing. I usually do not care for duck because it is such a heavy dish however this was prepared exactly right. In the middle was spinach and tomato and a mushroom rice. read more

I didn't realize a place like this existed in Marietta, but this restaurant was awesome. The decor was nice and the waiters are super professional. The food was awesome! The rolls and herbed butter that come to the table are AMAZING. The rolls are good enough to eat all by themselves, but the herbed butter makes them out of this world. I ordered Ocean Fest which came with a baked lobster tail with cajun butter and a crab cake with a spicy remolaude sauce. Everything was wonderful. The lobster was cooked perfectly and the crab cake actually had pieces of crab in it, instead of being all filler like some places. My husband orderd a pizza which he said was good, but he liked it better the next day because the alfredo sauce settled and tasted better. Great server even tho we were a very large (17) group. All smiles, great attitude & hustle. Good but not exceptional starters. We had several - nothing really stood out. Tried an "Eastern European" beef tenderloin. No one could tell me what that was or why it was so I had to try it. Was not a big fan - too heavy use of rosemary. Love me some rosemary but way too strong & in general, made for an odd combination w/ the beef. Meat was slightly beyond the requested medium rare temp. Wasabi potatoes were good but was not a fit with the rosemary above. Three people around me ordered much hyped prime rib. 0 for 3 on getting close to ordered temperature. All three were disappointed. A 4th ordered the same but sat, patiently, far beyond everyone else being served - maybe 7 minutes beyond - before he was told no more prime rib. Not sure who was at fault - server seemed a bit disturbed about it all so I think it was out of her quite efficient hands. He was finally served filet (he too was going to go E. European but saw my reaction) about the time we finished up. Reported it ok & to temp. No compensation was offered to him, to my knowledge. read more

My family and I have been here many times, both pre and post Covid. We have never had a bad experience or bad food. The choices were more exotic prior to the Covid shutdowns, but even after, the food has always been top notch and choices you can't get anywhere else in the MOV. The prices are much higher than most average restaurants, but it is worth it. Great dining experience if you are looking for higher end dining in the MOV. Best restaurant in Marietta by far, in my opinion. Staff has always been well trained and attentive. Be prepared to spend at least $100 for two with aps, drinks, main meal and dessert. I have never left thinking I was overcharged for anything. If I could afford to eat there every night, I would. Just the best in our area by far! read more
