My 86 year old mom took her 2007 Saturn Vue in for an oil change. They changed her oil and said it was ready for pick up. When we went back to pick up the car they said it needed $1000 worth of repairs. She agreed to the work and left her car overnight. When she went back to pick it up the next day they told her the bill was $1800. The additional $800 was for labor. I'm not sure why they didn't quote her that to begin with or at least give her some idea of labor costs. I feel like they ripped her off and took advantage of her. We were recommended by a friend but I'd never go back and would not recommend anyone use their services. read more

I brought my car into the shop back in May to get my timing belt and water pump changed and very unsatisfied. I dropped off my car at 8 am, they didn't get started on my car until after 2 pm, they close at 5 pm, my car wasn't finished yet. I took my car home and started smelling burning oil, thought it might be some excess fluids burning off, but the following day I called the shop and spoke to the manager, Craig, he told me to add a quart of oil and it should be okay. So, 2 days later, I was driving on I-5 South, my head gasket. The mechanic rushed the work so he can go home and forgot to re-attach all of the hoses. When I had my car towed back, the manager acted like he didn't care and wanted to place the blame on me, luckily I had witnesses that saw my vehicle stopped running on the freeway and found the hoses unattached. They fixed the blown head gasket, but my car doesn't start properly and they never offered to even refund for the towing. They caused the problem, never apologized, from branch manager, mechanic, nor owner. read more

I was able to drop my vehicle off at 9am to have new brakes pads installed. It's first come first serve basis so I just left and it only took an hour for them to call me after they completed the complimentary inspection. Mind you they had a few cars ahead of me at that point. Took them only till 11:30am to finish putting new brake pads on (just front axel) and resurface my rotors. Best part is they charge you an honest price and don't tell you they have to fix things that don't need to be replaced or fixed at that time. I would highly recommend! read more

This is my experience I was not impressed i wouldnt use this company again they broke my cv axle and they failed to fix my car properly and now the abs lights on the brake lights on it's making way more noise and the speedometer is no longer working they blamed us for it and we only had the car back for like 5 minutes and the locking system doesnt catch this place just keeps nickel and diming my car but they take no responsibilty for the things they have done I had to buy more parts then they said I needed and I only put my car in the shop for the bearings to be replaced and now I am sending it back into another shop as soon as i can read more

Let me start off by saying that I never leave reviews online but I have to leave a review for this place. I called at 12:00 p.m. today to get a quote to install a full aftermarket exhaust system that I already had and remove my old stock one on my 2016 Dodge Challenger. They quoted me an excellent price below competitors and said they would weld all the joints on instead of using the bolts and clamps for extra durability. This is a huge plus! I dropped the car off at 1:00 p.m. today and they called me at 3:00 p.m. stating that my car was ready to be picked up. Picked it up and it looks magnificent, the welds look great and of course the exhaust sounds good! They even offer military discount which is a nice addition. I will definitely bring my car back to this place if I ever need to! Thank you guys again for the awesome experience. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. Short: ~ $190 for a 2 hour job with customer supplied parts. -Had to chase them down for information. -Flat out lied about the condition of my brake caliper. -Horrible workmanship; to the point of being dangerous. - Had to spend an additional $120 to buy tools to "fix" their repair. Long: I dropped my MR2 off to have a bearing pressed in. The brake caliper was also damaged in a manner that did not allow it to rotate on the pivot bar. I supplied the bearing and a replacement caliper for them. They told me they would look the car over and call me before they started work with an estimate. I dropped the car off the night before. They opened at 8am the next day. I waited until 1130 to call them. I was told that it was being worked on. So much for the estimate. I was then told I would be called when it was done. They close at 5. 430 rolls around and no phone call. I called them and they said it was done. Okay. I guess I don't get a call that it was finished either. I picked it up and drove it home that night. Bearing felt okay but I didn't notice the brakes until the next morning on my way to work. I needed to stop quickly and my peddle went to the floor with about 50% braking power. So I called and asked them what happened with the caliper. They told me that it was just the bearing that was binding things up and the caliper was fine (total BS). I figured whatever. They saved me some time. I'll just bleed my brakes and change the pads this weekend. This is where the real fun starts. My lug nuts were so over torqued that my electric impact wrench wouldn't remove them. I had to jump up and down on a breaker bar to get them off. Next was the caliper. It was damaged exactly as I described above. I had to use a pry bar to move it away from the rotor. After thinking about it I realized the only reason to remove the caliper from the brake line was if it was too damaged to move in the first place. So I checked my brake fluid. It was about half full. This tells me that they disconnected the caliper and just let it bleed while they did the bearing. Then they put the damaged caliper back on and hammered it into place without bothering to bleed it. So I set to work pulling the caliper off. The mounting bracket bolts are supposed to be torqued to about 50 ft/lbs. I was beating on my breaker bar with a hammer and they wouldn't loosen. Why not just take it back? Because the caliper was now stuck in the up position and at this point I wouldn't trust these idiots to properly set my car on fire. Off to O'Reilly. I spent about $120 on an air powered impact wrench, shallow sockets and adapters. This worked. Barely. My air compressor almost didn't have enough grunt to get the two bolts off the mounting bracket. Now let's break this down... Promax fee: 190 Tools: 120 110 would have got me a shop press from harbor freight. 30 minutes to watch some youtube videos on pressing bearings. Some extra money for a couple of hand tools that I may have needed. I probably could have done this myself for a little less than the initial promax fee. And I certainly wouldn't have had to by air tools. Why? Because prior to them I was the last one to touch my brakes and I torque everything to spec. Not ham fist it with an impact wrench like a retarded chimp. I also wouldn't have had a MY BRAKES DONT WORK moment. If you can turn a wrench you are probably better off trying it yourself than taking your car here and paying "going rates" for less than back yard quality work. In my opinion these "mechanics" should have their certificate revoked. read more

Took my car here because it was burning oil. Had a warranty. Warranty only paid $23 out of the $217 repair, which isn't their fault at all. I'm upset because they told me they'd look at it at 2pm. I had to call them 15 minutes before they closed to find out my car was going to be there over the weekend because they didn't have a chance to look at it. Sunday passes. Monday, I hear nothing. Tuesday they fixed the problem supposedly. I paid the total, the second day, I noticed my car smells like burning oil and fire. Not even taking it back here. Driving it to my old mechanic. My wife took her Jetta in about a month ago for some exhaust work and they did a great job! She took my 97 GTI VR6 on her day off to have similar work done. They completed the work within 2 hours and did an amazing job. They even fixed another exhaust issue I had no idea about, at no charge. Their pricing was very fair for the amount of work done. The pipes that were mounted on the truck were uneven and they failed to install rubber mounts there was a 2 1/2 inch difference between them.  Did not replace exhaust donuts or exhaust springs that were provided. Failed to notify us of a cracked exhaust manifold.  Did not install mandrill bend piping also provided.  The exhaust system installed by Austins Pro-Max had significant backpressure causing the vehicle's performance and power to drop significantly.   When they claimed the job had been correctly and refused to fix their work the vehicle was taken to Quality Muffler and Brake of Olympia 360-943-8632   where all these problems were fixed at the exact same price that Austins Pro-Max charged.  The quality of work done by the 2nd shop was superb. None of the staff were wearing protective masks though they did have a shower curtain like surrounding the service desk. VERY frustrated that this type of behavior is rewarded with City of Tacoma contracts using my tax dollars to do so. read more

Came in with a leaking transmission. They took a look at it and quoted me a part specific price and a generic part price. I took the generic price which was about half of what I would have paid for part specific. When I went to pick the car up, turns out it was just a leak at a connection that wasn't noticeable till they dug into the job. So instead of replacing the parts and charging me for their labor, they fixed the connection, cleaned it up and I was on my way. I will be going back to them should I have any more problems with my car. read more

I took my Ranger in for what I was told was a busted radiator however, as I suspected, it was a blown head gasket. They quoted me a price and found me a used replacement for $500.00 which is pretty cheap. Anyway, they called me today to tell me my clutch is bad and if I brought a new one in they would replace it for free. Ok people, I have dealt with many auto repair shops in my time and have NEVER been offered free labor. I will now be a customer for life and refer anyone I know to these guys. Any females like myself have probably been lied to regarding car troubles and we are used to getting screwed so it is very refreshing to be treated this well by mechanics, I realize not all mechanics are crooks and Austin's Pro Max proves that point. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE. I took my car here for major repairs. Under THEIR advice I made many repairs to my car. It broke down on the freeway 2 weeks after I picked it up. Took it back to them to again, under their advice mad more repairs that they apparently didn't catch the first time. One week later it broke down again. They had it again and this time told me it was a small fix. When I picked up my car my vents did not work and I had New warning lights on my dash. I ignored it but now I have a major coolant leak. When I took my car to an actual repair shop to get an oil change they told me that I had almost no coolant in my car and was in danger of blowing my engine yet again!! I called Bob the GM and he took no responsibility and never got back to me. I have a car I put 4K in UNDER THEIR ADVICE that hardly runs. I now have to go through the legal process of taking them to court. This has been one of the most exhausting experiences of my life. I have one income and one car. Putting literally everything I had into a car that doesn't work has been awful. On top of it all these guys were very mean and obviously didn't care that they drained my bank account while making my car worse than ever. I'm begging you, please don't go here. read more

Want to start off by saying I don't typically write reviews however in this case I don't want this type of situation to happen to anyone else so I will take the time to do so. Please do not bring your vehicle to this place! I chose to go to this place only because it was between my home and my office and they had OK reviews with only some of them bad online. I took a chance, I dropped my car off here on a Thursday night so that way they can start on it Friday morning or Saturday which they're open. Friday morning I walk in to bring the keys spoke with a gentleman behind the desk and I was told that I would get a call as soon as they took a look at it. Now I brought my car in for a very specific reason and that was to have a part replaced. So I did not need anyone to take a look at it, I just needed that part replaced and had adequate money to do so. But what the hell i waited. Friday I get no call. See the car hasn't moved from its spot. Saturday I get no call, and the car still has not moved. Sunday I do a drive-by (again because this place is between my office and my home) and I see the car has moved but the window is down and the shop is closed! Luckily it didn't rain that day, however Monday forecasted rain. They are closed on Monday's!!!! I ended up having to call the Tacoma store which is open on Monday in order to have them reach out to someone in charge to get them out there to close my window before the rain started. By the time I got off of work I did see that the window was closed. Tuesday Morning upon them opening, I give a call to find out if there is any water damage and to see if any work was going to be done on my car. They stated there was no water damage and they were starting on it that day and i would get a call. Guess what didn't happen, I didn't get a call! By Wednesday morning I'm pretty upset give a call as soon as they're open and speak with a gentleman behind the desk and ask has anything been done to my car. His answer, "we're going to move some things around and start on that today and hopefully you should have it this afternoon." At this point I decided to cut my losses and let him know that I will be there to pick up my vehicle shortly. Now all this time the shop did not communicate with me, didn't state that they were behind on cars, short on employees, or upon accepting the vehicle say hey we're not going to be able to get this looked at it for a week or two. None of that happened absolutely no communication terrible customer service and I wouldn't wish that on the worst person. I will never go back to this place, as no one should! read more

We have brought 3 vehicles there for break jobs, and on all of them, the breaks were bad again within months, one of them within weeks. I had to argue with the manager about fixing they're mistakes because he didn't want to despite the warranty they give on they're work. Now we go to the competitor Midas who offers lifetime breaks for around 100 bucks after tax. They keep they're word and back they're work, if something is wrong with the products or services, they won't treat you like crap for calling them on it, and don't reluctantly put you to the back of the line to refix they're botched work. I called Saturday morning to have my mid muffler cut out and a 2 1/2" pipe welded in. This was a last minute decision and they were able to get my car in within a few hours. They had it done well before I needed it and was very fair priced. They have a great website, which was nice that they had a website at all, and everyone I spoke to was very nice. read more

Never has a problem before but after they way i was talked to and treated today. DO NOT GO HERE. Horrible service at front desk. Dropped car off Friday after calling and being told no problem if we leave the car overnight they would get to it first thing sat morning, it is a 4.5 hr job and it will be done sat for sure. No call Sat by noon so we called and was told doesnt look like today. Next business day for them is tues. Called again tues to see when car would be ready, was told needed a belt also and would be done by the end of the day. Showed up 15mins before closing, nope still not ready. When asked why it wasn't done, just argued with me and said he was "sorry he missed the mark". Again asked why a 4.5hr plus belt (they already have it torn apart) job is taking two business days. He then stated he would "roll my car out as is", not drivable. I drove it in. Continues to argue and states i will get the work done for free. NO this is not what i want. I wanted my car fixed and back sat like they had told me, ok got busy, why is it still not done tues? read more
