I have a 2012 Grand Cherokee Overland with a 5.7L Hemi. It's a great car but it sounded very sedate. I wanted a sound more like the SRTs or the Hemi pickups. When I explained this in almost the exact terms, they came up with a setup that they thought would fit the bill. When I came to pick it up on startup it had the exact sound I was looking for. Speaking from personal experience these ppl are not competent . Will do work not authorized and do work that's not needed then they will start a service that they are not able to finish. Leave you high and dry and charge you an extra high rates for incomplete Mickey Mouse work they did the worst mechanical work I have ever experienced in my life . On one of my many service vans they gave me a quote stating that in needed tie rod ends. (lol then they went ahead and did a font end alignment with out me authorizing and charged me 150$ on a alignment that was done wrong knowingly!) All and all after a 1,700$ bill I still had to go to a second mechanic to fix all there Mickey Mouse work ! They'll check your car for free and it's first come first serve. I thought they were honest and a reputable shop but after my most recent visit for a noise that was most likely the wheel bearing, I was told my lower control arm had no bushing and that it needs replaced. Had a family friend who's a mechanic take it out to replace and the bushing was still there and looked completely fine. I would not recommend this shop if you don't want to be lied to for unnecessary repairs so that you'll have to continue coming back to have them take your money. read more

Took my truck in to get a muffler delete it ended up being there for 5 days cause they had to replace an exhaust manifold but when I went to pick it up they never did the muffler delete even after I payed for it they kept it another 3 days to do it and I finally got it back but with no compensation, the truck sounds good now but they aren't the best shop. read more

First, they are not the cheapest around that is for sure, not sure about the reviews saying they have best prices but I would dispute that. However, I would not dispute the work quality they do and the communication that they provide. They did my wife's Jeep that started with an oil leak but I added on the clutch (90k on the original it was going to be soon) and that added a fly wheel based on wear also by the time were done. They did excellent work and the work was done on time. Friendly as all heck too, great people to work with there, thanks UPDATE: Originally gave five stars but after a week my wife's jeep started throwing codes about cylinder one misfire. I called to let them know I needed to have it looked at and I was concerned that something they did possibly was causing the issue. The front office, Melinda, said it would be impossible for them to have made an error because the oil filter housing unit is underneath the Jeep. Any mechanic knows the oil filter housing is on top, under the intake manifold, on the Pentestar you have to pull the intake just to do plugs and coils, you have to pull the manifold (and generally injectors) to get to the oil housing unit. If the front office is not a mechanic do not tell the customer what you did or did not do, do not take an automatic not our fault defensive posture when I just spent $5K in there also, this really damaged my trust in them as a business so I will not be back. read more

I went to a few shops in Puyallup before this one, and they all tried to rip me off and set up appointments for a 10 minute aftermarket exhaust install. Two things I will say during my visit here was the absolute job they did on my brakes and the wait wasn't even that long. On Friday, I went to the dealership off of River Road and they had a problem with my left brakes on my red Nissan Versa. In other words, they needed to be replaced. They were gonna charge me $1000 to get it replaced!!! Psssh. So I left. The following day, I took this over here to Pro Max off of Canyon Road, and they were able to fix and replace my brakes for a third of what the dealership was gonna make me pay!!! They also did a test drive to see if the new brakes on my car worked and they did!!! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Came in to have a high flow cat and O2 extenders installed. After leaving the shop, check engine light came on. Discovered the weld had a leak, returned to have it fixed and the CEL resolved. After the "fix" I barely made it to the freeway before the CEL came back on. I was glad I took pictures of the work as I shared these with the manufacturer who informed me the O2 extenders were installed incorrectly. On my third visit, I presented this information with front desk of Austin Pro who told me I instructed them on how to install it for which I did not. She also said it was an aftermarket part and how would they know how to install. Pretty sure 90% of what is in the waiting area is aftermarket and if you don't know how to installed maybe you should inform the customer. They "offered" to fix it but I would be charged for it. Needless to say I declined to pay extra for their crappy work which from experience would continue to be so. read more

My car was making a loud grinding sound. I called asking if they allowed walk ins and the lady informed me they only did walk ins and told me to bring in my car. I dropped it off and she was very friendly and efficient in letting me know the process. She called me a few hours later and told me the muffler had been torn from the exhaust or something to that effect. They had it fixed by the end of the night and when I picked up my car she let me know she had them add a new tip. It was a heart shaped tip and I loved it, she didn't even charge me for it. The price for the rest was reasonable and the customer service was great. If I have any issues with my car in the future I will be returning to them for help. read more

2017 Silverado 6.2L Muffler change out......... Just a note to say thanks so much to the Puyallup location - for getting me in and squared away yesterday. The sound is super mellow and deep - and not obnoxious even at WOT. I can hear it shift now - an unexpected bonus. And as for the flapper - Neither the wife or I can hear any difference in sound during V4 mode. Sounds great starting up cold. No drone in any speed from idle to 75mph. I would fully recommend the FlowMaster Big Block 50 part # 53553 to any 6.2L GM truck owners just wanting a mellow "quiet" exhaust - but not the silent sewing machine that they are from GM - leave the resonator - delete the flapper. Got me in on a busy day - and out in good time - great workmanship! read more

No appointments at this place, first come first serve. No problem. I arrived right when they opened Saturday morning and my vehicle as done by 3pm. Had all belts replaced (including timing belt), and spark plugs. Engine runs smooth. So far I think the prices are very competitive, if not best in town. read more

Had airbags put on my truck (The airbags were not installed by Austin promax). The brackets for the airbags were hitting my exhaust causing an awful rattling in the cab while driving. Took it into Austin's promax off canyon road and immediately got it on the lift. A few minutes of torching and tweaking they had it fixed! They pulled the truck off the lift, handed me my keys and said "here you go". I would have gladly paid for the time it took to fix but instead they just did it for free. From now on, I will be taking all my vehicles here for exhaust, brakes and oil changes. Great costumer service! read more

The guys were cool. Took my car in for AC Diagnosis. Couldn't find any leaks the first day, so I brought the following Saturday again. My Problem- The second saturday and the second time I brought it in they call me say "Hey your car is ready." Being ready I assumed the leak has been found or the Freon has been recharged and its 'Ready.' When I came back my keys were handed to me.. and the tech walked back into the garage.. I asked what the problem was and the tech said we couldn't find anything and bring it back next week again. I was fed up with being car-less for hours to no solution so I took my car to a different shop. The other shop found that my compressor was un-plugged and plugged it back in and called me within 2hrs of dropping it off to pick it back up. I called Pro-Max for a refund because I believe I paid them for a diagnosis that they failed to provide. Checking for a leaks for multiple days a logical tech would move to the next step and actually see if the equipment is functioning.. the compressor was not...so obviously the AC will not work and there will be no Freon pressure..simple Google searches can answer that. They refused the refund and said my compressor was working when my car was there indicating that the other tech were wrong... and implying the system had a leak. I have the work order from the tech who fixed my AC and it clearly says compressor unplugged and then they cleaned and recharged the system. What mechanic diagnoses a AC that supposedly has a leak and within 2 hours fixes the leak free of charge and tells me that only a compressor was unplugged? That's what Pro-Max insisted happened. I wrote this review because I am very tired of shops taking advantage of customers. I paid them for a service which they did not complete successfully therefore I should not be charged. I also paid for brake service and in return my sensors were either broken or not installed. I called the shop the moment I left the shop and their response was 'It was probably broken a little bit before and now it probably broke all the way.' Also was told the tech didnt see the sensor light and they have nothing to do with it. read more

Paid 220.00 for brakes. receipt says brake service nothing more. Year later brakes start rubbing. Take them back they say well your receipt does not say what kind of brakes we put on could have been 90 day brake's. I always put the best on. Never go cheap. They say now they want 400$ to fix them down to 10%. I say that is crap. They are a rip off and do not honor there work. No offer to put on new shoes or anything just hand us money. I will never go there again. I am going back to Bucky's at least they put the warranty on the receipt and write down what they do. Avoid this place...... read more

Was a big fan of Bobby and the guys here for a few years since I moved to the area. Oil changes and serpentine belts and minor stuff was always taken care of quickly and cheaply and great customer service. My last go-round was with my brakes. Had them do fronts and rears complete. Upon leaving, had minor pulsation. Went back next day and had Bobby tell me the new drums they put on the back were out-of-round, which they replaced with another new set free of charge. This time when I left, the brakes were even worse...horrible and unsafe. Since the shop was now closed, had another shop try to turn the "new" drums because I had work the next morning. They told me the drums were so unbalanced that it actually broke their turning lathe. Took back to Bobby, he looked over it and replaced the drums, again, and said it was test-driven and ready to go. Brakes were still horribly pulsating. Again, took back to Bobby. He says now the front rotors are bad. Turned rotors and says it's ready, test-driven, and perfect, again. Leaving the lot, I could tell they weren't fixed. I now refuse to waste another minute or breath on this place. Took a day off work, Put all new drums and rotors on myself, brakes like a dream now, thanks to ME and more $. Used to be a huge fan. Now I know Bobby is a great talker, but should absolutely be test-driving these jobs that he claims are "ready". He should be wondering if he would send his daughter out in a completed job without double-checking first! Six trips, waiting, walking home and back six times....and had to do brakes myself in the end. Unlike the sign on their building that says, "Best brake shop in town," I believe it is the exact opposite. Never again. read more
