I had these folks out to a rental property of mine in Pemberton Heights. When compared to the 3 other quotes I got from competing tree trimmers, they were well under Davey's and competitive with the other two. I decided to go with them because the owner seemed down to earth and I had heard good things about them from a couple of people I know. They removed 4 large 12-24" diameter trees, cleared up a huge chevy tahoe-sized pile of brush, and did some routine trimming on the house. Needless to say, it was a couple of day job. I was out of the state while they were working on the house, but according to the tenant they did a good job throughout the process. Since its been a month or two since they were at the house, I would say the collateral damage from this many large trees coming down was quite minimal. Overall, nothing much was damaged. The back office staff with Austin Tree Surgeons were the most unhelpful and rudest individuals I've worked with to date. When provided with an estimate, I simply asked for a breakout by tree (e.g. more detail) and not only were they unable to provide but they also declined our business. Any organization in the service industry should be able to provide details on an estimate and manage a certain level of respect for customers. We've used them in the past with no issues so there may have been a staffing change but needless to say, they lost a lot of future business. read more

I contacted Austin Tree Surgeons on a Sunday via their website. The next day (Monday), their arborist Jaclyn paid me a visit to estimate the job. They had a customer cancellation and were able to get a crew out to me on Tuesday. Quick service! Service performed by Miguel and crew in mid January 2015. I have 11 mature Live Oaks; it was a large job involving limb removal, eliminating deadweight and lifting branches off of the roof. Also, I had a Chinese Pistache tree planted by the same crew. They took about 4 hours and were extremely thorough, even blowing the detritus off of the roof, patio and deck. The crew had a great attitude and were there to answer whatever questions or concerns I had. The invoice was generated and paid through their website. Very quick and smooth. I was immensely impressed with their body of work and I heartily recommend them as arborists / tree trimming specialists in the Austin area! read more

I had a 2 story bur oak tree removed, two trees trimmed back from the roof line, a very large live oak cleaned of small dead branches and vines, a large agave removed that had bloomed and a large brush pile removed. The crew of 6 did a great job of getting the work done and cleaned up after all the cuttings and sawdust. We are buying some property in Driftwood and I was really worried about the health of some of the trees hearing about all of the oak wilt going around. I sent them pictures of the trees and they were able to send an arborist out the next day to check them out. She was very informed and inspected my trees and told me they were in great health! (We were a little skeptical that they may prescribe a costly treatment). She gave me tips for caring for them and the inspection fee could go towards work we need(ed) done. Will definitely be using them again when we need help pruning and deadwood removed as well as other tree-service needs. read more

The crew worked hard for a full day and loaded a trailer 6 ft high, 6 ft wide and 12 feet long with trimmings. They left the yard spotless. For my money, a great value! read more

I just had my first experience with Austin Tree Surgeons and it was absolutely excellent. They responded to a request for quote on the same day with a quote from a certified arborist, emailed me a typed and very detailed description of the work to be performed, and quoted me a price that was squarely in the middle of the 3 quotes I received and seemed quite fair (the other lower quote was not from a certified arborist and was hand written on the spot on a form without letterhead so there was a lot more room for misunderstanding, lack of insurance and tool sanitation, etc.). This was a general cleanup of 12 oaks plus some smaller trees. They scheduled the work for later the same week, the crew walked the yard with me with good communication skills as I went back over everything, and then roped into the trees and started work. Every sizable pruning was roped down to the ground, after every tree I just viewed it and said "perfect". There was not another comment or discussion needed all day except to say "great job, thanks." I am sure all jobs can't go this well, but this is my new company and I strongly recommend them. read more

The initial contact was fine, but the crew that arrived did not do a thorough job. I went outside before they left and saw inadequate pruning of my fruit trees, less pruning of my Spanish oak than I wanted. The arborist came back and asked the crew to return to finish the job today. However, I was upset that a pear tree in the side yard was not pruned as well. The arborist said that was not written in the contract. The crew could do that in 15 minutes when they come this afternoon but no compromise was offered. I would happily have paid an extra $50 to have the job finished to my satisfaction, but that was not offered and I did not have time to negotiate because I had a Zoom meeting to join. I will not use the company again after this experience. What they did was adequate but less than the professional job I was paying for. Therefore an average rating. It was a big job. read more

Austin Tree Surgeons came out and trimmed up our large oak tree a few weeks ago. We received a quick, and free!, estimate and were able to schedule the work within days. Brad was super friendly and very responsive. The crew arrived promptly at 8:00 am the day of the job and were finished and had everything cleaned up by early afternoon. We had no idea when the tree had last been pruned. At least since we bought the house - over five years ago! It was in sad shape. We had a big job, but tree surgeons schedules us quickly. When I had concerns the crew the day-of didn't include an arborist, they sent an arborist by immediately. The crew worked so hard allllll day and cleaned up the mountain of branches they trimmed all over our property really well, including covering then skimming the pool. When a falling branch hit and broke a piece of our pool equipment, they brought it to my attention and didn't try to claim it was already like that. Then the office reimbursed the cost of the minor repair (by our chosen pool company) very fast, no questions asked. Accidents happen, but service like that is priceless. read more

I used them recently for the first time to have two 20 foot oak trees in my front yard trimmed and have the health of one assessed. I was very impressed. I found them via an online search. It was quick to fill out their online service request form and I was contacted by phone the same day about my trees. They then had a rep out to my home the next day. She gave me a fair quote on the trimming and provided some advice on the stressed tree. I followed her recommendation and had great results. If something more serious was going on she gave me a referral to a tree disease specialist just in case I didn't see improvement. I didn't need to use it thankfully, but it was nice to have that referral regardless. The Austin Tree Surgeons crew was able to come to my home the following day. The clean up was immaculate and, most importantly, the trees looked great. My neighbor agreed because he hired them as well. We now have the best looking trees on the block. This is second time using Austin Tree Surgeons. I love that they start every job by sending out a registered tree arborist and give you a quote before ever starting any job. What makes them a great company is that I asked about getting my Live Oaks trimmed up at the same time as the work being done on my non Oak tree. The arborist told me they didn't want to do that at this time because of the time of year and didn't want to expose my trees to Oak Wilt. Any other tree company would have seen dollar signs and just done it. The arborists are very knowledgable. I wanted a lot of a certain tree cut down and they made me aware that you should never cut more than 25% of a tree down at a time or it can send it into shock. Again any other tree company probably wouldn't have adhered to this standard and would have cut as much of the tree down as I wanted. Glad that I kept my tree healthy. My appointment did get pushed due to weather but understandably so for the safety of their employees. It was immediately rescheduled. The crew showed up and did exactly what the arborist and I had discussed. I could not be more happy with the work they did. They worked fast, efficient and left my yard clean of any debris. I am very pleased with the pruning done on my three young live oak trees when I was out of town. Upon returning home the trees looked great and my front and back yard was very clean with no debris left behind. I thought that I would have to remove one young live oak tree due to its location and possible structural damage it would cause as it matured. I called Austin Tree Surgeons because the owner is a certified arborist, and I wanted to avoid tree butchers. When our house was built, a very old, large cedar was left, although the construction damaged many major roots. Combined with the drought, the tree looked like it was on its last legs. I was ready to concede defeat and have it taken out, but Brad assured me it just needed some pruning! The price was terrific. The crew were all upbeat and talented, and they followed the plan to the T - no nasty surprises after the fact. They left the site immaculate, and the tree looks better every day. My husband and I went through the process of getting several quotes for the work that needed to be done on our home. We had the quote done on a Thursday morning and the crew had the work completed by the following Friday. What really stood out for us was the professionalism, competency and efficiency displayed by Austin Tree Surgeons. Our arborist, Jessica was thorough, courteous and professional. She took the time to answer my questions and help me understand what was needed vs. what work could wait for a while before it needed to be attended to. She was patient with my questions and her professionalism really made such a good impression. The prices quoted was very reasonable and comparable. Javier and his crew were just plain good. Received a call Wednesday afternoon from the arborist who had been out to my house and was provided with an estimate and a date when the work could be done (next day). I can't review their work because they sent a crew that could not speak English. Without being able to communicate with them to make sure they knew exactly what Jake (the arborist) and I had discussed about trimming my live oaks and safely pruning my crepe myrtles, there was no way I was going to let them do anything. They phoned their immediate supervisor who only said that he had 15 years experience and that the crew did. He never mentioned sending anyone over to translate. When I finally spoke to the arborist, I was informed that usually have a translator on every job but, for some reason, not this one. He also told me the supervisor said he could have been there in 10 minutes which he did not or things would have been different .. I would have been fine waiting that 10 minutes for him to arrive. Bottom line .. they refused to come back because I sent the crew away!!! They might have done a good job, I don't know but they sure handled THEIR mistake of not having anyone on the crew who could speak English poorly and I am totally unimpressed!!! If their customers need to be bilingual .. then they should say that up front! read more
