This company provides affordable units in the wonderful area of Brentwood. Our building does not have onsite laundry facilities, so we are permitted to use the laundry room across the street. The grounds are constantly maintained. Regular maintenance is done on the building (painting, repairs, replacement of air filters, etc.). The maintenance staff always provide notice before they enter units. When I had plumbing issues several times during weekends, the plumber came out within an hour and fixed the problems. All in all, a great realtor to use if you want to find a decent place to live in Central Austin! read more

Teresa is unprofessional and unkind. I have personally never been spoken to in such a condescending, abrasive manner in my entire life. Teresa is very hot tempered and down-right rude. Giving her my business and time was the worse decision I have made in my (5 different apartments) over my 7+ years in Austin, Texas. I called her regarding a question in my contract. She miscommunicated AND misrepresented her intention and the contract. Because of this I am out a significant amount of money. I understand my fault was relying on her word and our conversation. Honestly, would have probably moved on from this whole situation and wouldn't have posted this review if Teresa didn't speak to me in such a terrible and appalling manner. read more

I live at an apartment complex "managed" by Austin Skyline Realty. I have never been treated worse by apartment management in my life. The boss/head honcho, Teresa, is snotty, rude, patronizing, and has lied to us multiple times about what's in the lease and what's legal. Everything she tells us now, we run by a lawyer friend and a very thorough google search to make sure it's *actually* correct. Oh, and nothing is EVER her fault. Ever. Actual conversation with her follows. Context: we had a serious leak, like 50-60 gallons in a 24 hour period at its peak, in the middle of our living room floor, onto tile - super slick - that also meant we went this entire time without a living room light. This leak went two months unfixed. By the time it was fixed, a huge chunk of sheet rock was fixing to fall onto our living room floor - it was literally dangling. The leak was also a serious fire hazard. (Teresa did not realize or care was a fire hazard; she seemed to not realize it was a health hazard at all until I explained to her that water + electricity = fire and that I had just talked to someone at the fire department whole told me I should report it as a violation of health and safety code.) There's also been construction work since August which sometimes makes ungodly loud noise for 6-8 hours a day (I work at home, so this is a huge issue for me). This excerpt is directly after I had just explained to her, in the most polite way possible without ever laying blame on her shoulders, that the construction work is continuing to interrupt my work an unacceptable amount and I wanted to see if we could work out some kind of arrangement for us to leave our lease early: T: Well, I understand your problem, but you know, the owner's already been very generous and he gave you a rent credit for December, so I don't know what else you want me to do. (Note: the rent credit was less than half off our rent and I had to be nasty and haggle to get THAT much. They acted astounded when I asked about it, like they expected everything to be hunky-dory after it took them two months to fix the leak.) Me: Uh, the rent credit was because YOU GUYS neglected a leak to the point where OUR CEILING WAS CAVING IN. It had nothing to do with the noise. T: *I* didn't neglect the leak because *I* didn't get the property until November first! Me: The leak wasn't fixed until the second week of December. That's still neglect. T: That's not the point. Yeah. "That's not the point" is one of her favorite phrases. (She also uses it when you say "I *read* the lease and what you said was in there is definitely not in there.") Go figure. Short version: do NOT rent anywhere managed by these clowns. You'll regret it. If you're a landlord, do not have these people manage your properties. (Unless you don't give a rip about your tenants, in which case GTFO of the landlord-ing business because the world does not need more landlords like you.) read more

I love everything about skyline realty and will miss them so much when I move! Like everyone's saying, Teresa and Rose are so kind, friendly and exceptionally helpful. Maintenance calls are taken care of, things are fixed asap. They get things done and do it with a friendly, warm attitude. Again I will be so sad when I move next month after enjoying renting from them for over 2 years. Grover Gardens is clean, green, quaint, quiet and safe. There are a couple cute cats who hang around, it is close to so many cool things and its strangely reassuring to live next to a high school. Love you skyline! read more

I am deeply unhappy with my experience with Austin Skyline Realty. My unit was dirty and beat up when I moved in and I was excessively charged upon move out. I went two weeks without a refrigerator when mine broke down and the complex went over a month with only one washing machine while we waited for the other to be repaired. I would encourage all (especially students) to be very careful before deciding to lease with this company. read more

As far as I am concerned, these people managed the closest to Renter's Heaven I have ever experienced! I was hoping to live here for the rest of my life, actually because I was extremely happy there! In fact,I absolutely loved it there for 8 terrific years! It was quiet,safe, virtually crime-free and so convenient to all the places I needed to go. EMS is only a few blocks down the street if you have health issues and Austin has the best EMS in Central Texas and some of the best in the entire state. I liked the cat-friendly policy because I could enjoy the neighbors cats without having the upkeep of my own. There are plenty of birds too which I enjoy hearing them sing right outside my window. I like hearing people come and go because I don't feel alone. OLD PEOPLE LIKE ME DO NOT LIKE CHANGE AND LEAVING THERE WAS ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT THINGS I EVER HAD TO DO. ( I cried) I lived in an extremely small one-bedroom unit in a wonderful building with interesting neighbors and we knew all of them and we looked out for each other. There was no exercise room,swimming pool,dishwasher, free wi-fi or other so-called amenities but what I did get was a well-maintained,clean,comfortable, basic living with convenient parking. So convenient to bus routes #1 and #5. The maintenance men are prompt,courteous, know what they are doing and the HVAC guys are awesome. They are that good! Rent was $600 a month when I moved in and electricity runs from $65 in winter to $125 in the summer! I had a years lease. I paid my rent promptly, was a quiet tenant who avoided excessive loudness,open flames and anything which could endanger other residents here. I also do not smoke or drink or use dope. When I began renting, the property management was known as Capitol Area Property Management but changed their name when Barbara Ables retired. She was a dynamo who kept everything in its property order and her daughter Teresa and her able assistant Rose are also professional. They helped me deal with an unfortunate situation. I noticed the change when the name of the property management company changed. Some people's leases were not getting renewed and more were being put on a month to month lease. I was one of them. If I had any complaints it would have to be about the unknown electrical (?) interference that blew out the picture in my flatscreen TV,wipes out TV stations and AM radio signals and totally blocks my internet wi-fi access. That is NOT the fault of property management. My neighbors who can afford Time Warner Cable had no such issues. I had the misfortune to develop disability issues several years after moving here. These apartments are not adapted for persons with mobility issues. Unfortunately, Gentrification and the yuppie sprawl that accompanies have begun to creep insidiously into the Brentwood neighborhood. More bars have sprung up and I do not feel safe driving after sunset due to the new proliferation of drunken driving. A brand new condominium was built nearby and I fear rents in the neighborhood will soon be driven into the stratosphere. Austin appears to be morphing into San Francisco-style real estate development and New York Manhattan prices on Texas wages which will not work well. read more

So yesterday I moved out of my apartment on 1501 North Loop. I would like to give this company a RAVE review. Teresa was there helping me into my apartment and there going above and beyond helping me to get out when the time was right. They never raised my rent by drastic unreasonable amounts. They allowed me to stay on month to month for a small charge more a month. The maintenance guys and grounds keepers are amazing. I have never lived in an apartment where they came and changed your air filter every three months. It bothers me a little to hear the below review by Michelle just based on the fact I lived 3 doors down from the leasing office and lived there 3 1/2 years and while I feel bad for the plumbing problem she experienced thats life and real estate sometimes you get a lemon, it bursts and then you have to get it fixed. I just cant imagine it being to the extent she describes. I have lived in a complex down in the 04' where i had to listen to construction and my plumbing was jacked...they didnt let me out of my lease...it doesn't work that way in real estate. If you are looking for a reasonably priced smaller property to call home I think any of there locations around Austin would be wonderful!!! They have been great to me!!! read more

this was really our only negative experience in Austin, I rented a place against my better judgment- when I saw it, and when I saw the 'office' of the 'real estate' agents I should have just walked away. I would say given the older positive reviews that there has been a decline in services and/or professionalism from this company, and certainly the building was not maintained properly ( large hole in siding was never fixed all year ) The worst thing was at the termination of lease to find they would not do the usual 'walk through' and though we left the property perfectly clean and Texas law says normal 'wear and tear' is not allowed to be charged for, they still took some of the deposit for cleaning and 'touch up paint'. The dishonesty really bothered me, for some reason, I took it personally though they probably do this to others! And we left it so clean too...I took a movie of it before we locked up. There are loads of nicely renovated rental properties in this area, just drive up and down the streets between Triangle and Hyde Park and UT and there are boards everywhere. I cannot say enough good things about Austin Skyline Realty. Teresa, Tina, and their entire maintenance staff (Bobby, Joe, Zeke, and Bernie) are simply fantastic. Maintenance issues are dealt with swiftly, and compassionately. They cultivate a feeling of family, and community, which seems lost on so many management companies that are only concerned with their bottom line. Owning a home now in Austin is just impossible for many people. It's nice to live somewhere where I feel like my apartment, is my home, and not merely a space I am renting.
