But what I will say is they let us live with mold in our apartment for a month after letting a leak continuously, grow and worsen for three months. They refused to do anything until I called my lawyer and reported them to the city of Austin. Avoid Tower Realty at all costs. I lived at 2300 Leon St., and from the day we moved in, it was a disaster. Painters were still in our unit, and Anna (the manager) blamed the contractor. That was the beginning of a constant blame game. We were told we had assigned parking spots--turned out to be false. I almost got towed, had issues with neighbors because of the confusion, and then my roommate did get towed--despite our info being on file and towing being "manager call-in only." They denied calling, then blamed the towing company. Then the floods started. Our ceiling literally poured water into the kitchen during rainstorms. This happened multiple times. One time it flooded so badly my bed was destroyed, the kitchen floor was covered, pantry soaked, and black mold grew in my closet. My carpet stayed wet for days. Emergency maintenance? Useless. Calls went straight to voicemail or were ignored. We begged for help, called dozens of times, left voicemails, and got no response. Even Tower staff admitted they couldn't reach Anna. We never got dehumidifiers or proper fans. One time they dropped off a fan and never picked it up. We had to fight for every basic response, and were left living in a wet, moldy apartment. Tower constantly blamed HOA and barely communicated. After the final flood, we broke our lease. And then--surprise--they suddenly sent maintenance to fix the issue after we moved out. If you ever have an emergency, don't expect help. Tower Realty's "support" is nonexistent. Their team lies, dodges responsibility, and makes you chase them. Save yourself the nightmare. Good luck getting a call back, even for the most simple things. They were quite responsive when seeking my business but once they had it, call after call and email after email went unanswered. Additionally, they often violate their own terms of agreement. They managed my unit and our contract said they would notify if a fix ever exceeded $200. Frequently, I would notice my rent check would be short several hundred dollars and when I asked why the rent was short, they said they needed to do maintenance. One could argue a pretty interesting skimming scheme. read more

Asking because the city cut off our utilities-- where have you all been putting the money we pay you for those? And why do you not respond to our emails or phone calls? Our utilities have been cut off because of Tower Realty's failure to pay. Unceremoniously, I might add, because the Anna Battles and Chesney Coker dream team also do not inform tenants when water or gas will be turned off (something that has happened several times during the course of the lease). I currently live at the Croix apartments which is managed by Tower Realty. While the apartments are not terribly horrible, the management is. I have been complaining about mold in the apartment for a little over a month now, and they told me that they will not send someone out to address the issue unless I send them a doctors note...... I am constantly waking up with a horrible swollen throat and swollen face/sinus problems whenever I spend the night at my apartment. I visited the doctors office finally and they confirmed that I was diagnosed with allergic rhinitis. I mentioned this to Tower Realty nearly ONE MONTH ago and they claim they cannot contact someone for the mold unless I send them a copy of the doctors notes. This is becoming a health hazard. read more

If you're an up and coming. college student with no clue or expectations about how a property management firm should operate, look no further. They have plenty of loud, cheap listings. But if you are a seasoned tenant looking for honest guidance on your future home, reasonable response to services and respect for your privacy I cannot discourage them more! 1. More than 2 months to fix an annoying and extreme water wasting leaking kitchen sink. Left me with no sink for months as the alternative was to shut off the water to the sink. 2. Once I gave notice, lazy reps gave my personal details without my approval to book showings to sell the condo...my personal details to be used by creepers, spammers, and other opportunity seekers who assume I own the condo as suggested on the listing. 3. Allowed realtors entry with no notice and shoes ON during COVID 4. Their agent Mike disabled my camera while I was living there to try to document what I needed to clean for my safety 5. Upon viewing/considering my condo, Mike told me that "luckily" construction would be done on the other side of the building so would not be disturbed. It was actually being done outside of my window. I should have learned from this red flag early bc with my research he was trying to scam me. so I negotiated a lower rate. NOT, NOT, NOT a trustworthy co to work with. I absolutely do NOT recommend. read more

If you want to do work with con-artists, liars and someone that will lead you to nothing but a major disappointment, Tower Realty is the one for you! A "move-in" remodeled unit to them is as follows: rusted-out, mold-ridden fridge with an ice maker ripped out in which the TENANT is expected to replace, a fence on property eaten up my termites and mold, holed, broken screens, cracked front window and a fireplace promised to failed inspection with burnt away brick in the firebox. Icing on the cake? They'll promise you that it'll get taken care of... as long as you pay for half of it and wait and wait and wait. These people need to be out of business. Do not waste your time. Not looking forward to my next twelve months being locked in a lease with them in charge... If you hear of a townhome going up in flames in North ATX, it's just my place and you can thank Tower for their neglect. read more

Chesney Coker and his Tower Realty team recently helped me with the purchase of a new house and the sale of my current house. Buying and selling a home at the same time is stressful. There is a bunch of moving parts between when one home sells and the purchase of the new home. Chesney was a real professional the whole way. While hunting for our place, the agent said there will be prorating of rent. We didn't think much of it, but as the first month rolled in, we had to pay in full. When emailed about this policy change, chesney just said "you signed yourself into this, any negotiation should have been done before the lease signing." That was off-putting. Emails asking about accommodations with rent relief or lease extension during COVID times were never responded to. They replied to emails saying "I've just dropped off this month's check in the mail box" almost immediately. I'm certain we'll get our deposit deducted for inexplicable reasons at the end. We should have been more vigilant with the housing predators of Austin. read more

Well seems like I'm not the only one that's not happy with the management. My apartment was a shithole compared to the other renovated apartments but it was what I could afford at the time. Little did I know it would come back to bite me in the ass later as they charged me for paint? Paint what? You got 50 layers just on the bathroom door that's peeling! I took pictures of everything with dates before I moved in. I had to clean it when I moved in because it was filthy and stains all in around the sink. I had the absolute WORST experience with Tower Realty. My boyfriend and I were renting an apartment that was sold mid lease- the new owners used Tower Realty to manage the property. We lived on Graham Place near UT and are both responsible college students. BLACK MOLD began to form on our upstairs bathroom door (our bedroom was a loft) and grew for a month and a half. I called, went into the office, and sent emails; I even had my boyfriend stop into the office. I received 0 calls back; They promised to fix it when I went to the office and did NOTHING. We had to move out on July 3rd even though our lease didn't end until the 31st, because they refused to treat the black mold. We basically paid the $1,300 in July rent to only stay there for 3 days. I have a chronic pain condition so my immune system is compromised; both my boyfriend and I were becoming extremely sick from the exposure. We couldn't last another 3 weeks sleeping next to that amount of mold. When I requsted the actual owner's information to discuss solutions, they (Tower Realty) refused to give it to me. There was also a puppy in the office several times we were there that was jumping on and biting my boyfriend and I (my boyfriend is a big animal lover and even he was quite upset); there was a shredded toy scatttered all over the floor. For months before we moved out, people would show up at our apartment unannounced to tour it. Our lease stated that we were required to receive at least 24 HOURS prior to anyone viewing the apartment which never happened. If we were informed at all, it would be 25 minutes to a few hours notice max. That is unacceptable and completely unprofessional. I brought this up at least 5 times and nothing changed. Chesney and his female office manager are both equally responsible and equally unprofessional. They think they can take advantage of young college students and that is wrong. We took great care of that apartment and fixed many things on our own dime. The lady at the front office is an absolute WITCH (putting it nicely). She had the NERVE to tell me to stop talking because she had a migraine and I was making it worse by expressing my frustration about not having the black mold treated (I was speaking calmly and respectfully). She also said she had dealt with much worse things at apartments she had previously lived in (who says that?!) . Don't come to work and expect to do nothing, headache or not. I was shaking when I left the office- I have rarely encountered such a vile person. We currently live at Amli 5350 and love it there. Avoid Tower Realty at all cost. read more

I recently stayed at one of their properties on the corner of 21st and pearl. Upon moving into the apartment, there were many issues that should have been dealt with. Not only was it not properly cleaned it looked like it was put together with scraps. My room had a dried up piece of soap stuck in the shower and the other bathroom was covered in mold, which both my roommate I had to clean ourselves. All over the apartment, and even on some of the appliances, there were paint stains. Every single door handle was a different style. All 3 of the bulbs in my bathroom were different and 2 of them were not even working. I was told to replace them myself or they would charge me to replace it. We weren't even given an ac filter, which they also told us we had to get ourselves. Immediately after moving in, my roommate and I noticed the lights along walkway to our apartment were not working. To get to our apartment, it was pitch black at night. We sent several emails to management and it took them almost a month to fix this. Not only was the apartment a mess, but management was incredibly rude. My roommate and I primarily dealt with a woman named Jen who wouldn't know what customer service was if it hit her in the head. Extremely disrespectful every time we spoke. Upon moving out they told us in order to receive our deposit split we were to email them exactly how much each person was to get and where to send it. I paid more than my roommate because I brought a pet which I very clearly stated in the email. Even with this, they sent the check split straight down the middle. I emailed Jen to see why It was split equally when both my roommate and I agreed to other terms. She said she saw the email I sent and made a mistake and would see what she could do. I emailed her 2 days in a row and even called the office multiple times, only to be ignored. On the third day they finally picked up the phone and Jen explained to me that nothing was going to be done about THEIR mistake. At the time my roommate and I were not on speaking terms, which is why I made sure to send an email on EXACTLY how to split it. While explaining this to her over the phone and demanding they contact her, Jen hung up the phone on me because she "was not going to be spoken to like this." They say they only handle the inside of a property but they charge high rent and as part of their service, they should ensure that the property meets the minimum standard by working with the homeowners association. I had to pay an extra $150 (estimated) to move out from 3rd floor because elevator is broken. The Homeowners Association will hear from me as well but beware. Some properties look very nice but check the outside as well as the inside before signing a lease through this company. read more

Had multiple issues with the front desk manager. I did not pay for gas or water, as agreed up, in writing, then all of a sudden, I started getting charged for these services. Chesney said I had no claim for this information. I asked him why this happened and he said the landlord just decided to quit paying for the services. I understand the situation, but was never informed by anyone. I ended up owing several hundred dollars at once because I thought that it was being taken care of, meanwhile, it wasn't. Another issue that I had was when I had to have the bathtub resurfaced. Finding a person to do this took a couple of days, but the front dest manager at the time finally found someone to do it while the apartment was occupied. My friend stayed over while the resurfacing took place. The guy that performed the resurfacing told him that it was fine to stay in there. We looked it up and it was definitely not fine. We waited for hours for the smell to clear, but it never did. We eventually called poison control and they told us not to stay there for the night. My friend was visiting from out of town so we reluctantly had to ask another friend if we could stay with them (during the height of the pandemic). I called Chesney, nothing. I texted Chesney, nothing. He never got back to me. He reassured me several times, along with the front desk manager, that it was fine to stay there. Poison control said otherwise. Lastly, the heating unit in the apartment was extremely old and ran on gas. A week before winter storm Uri, the furnace got to where it wouldn't heat properly, staying at or around 60 degrees, despite "running" constantly. There was an issue with the pilot light. I contacted the front desk manager several times concerning this and she told me that it was probably just the electrical issues (she didn't know that it was gas powered?). She never had anyone come out. Luckily, I had the repair man's phone number, called him up, and he was out in less than an hour and fixed the furnace in ten minutes. Additionally, there would be times where I would drop off a paper check and not a soul in the office wore a mask. I felt extremely uncomfortable in there, so opted to pay online, despite the five dollar convenience fee. The overall quality of the apartment was fine. The management at tower realty is where I had the biggest issues. read more

Tower Realty is an amazing place to lease from. This is the first time in my life I've leased an apartment, but Tower Realty, especially Charla, has made it a super easy process. Charla is almost always available on the phone and through email, and is super helpful in resolving financial issues, getting maintenance requests set up, and whatever else you need. She also sends reminders when rent is due, which is super helpful! Their website is also pretty easy to use, but the payment details page to track your rent and charges can be confusing to figure out. Overall, I'm really happy leasing from Tower Realty. As a UT student, their office is close by to campus making it easy to stop by in person if necessary. I couldn't ask anything more from their customer service, and would 100% recommend to a friend! read more

If taking advantage of college students is a quality you admire in a business then continue to support Tower Realty. Chesney and Sam use vulnerable college students to buy their Range Rovers and Rolex watches. They are scam artists and rip off their tenants. For example, in the move out instructions they required tenants to use a specific provider (which charged roughly 3 times the standard rate) and threatened fees and penalties if that provider was not used. During move out there was no walk out inspection, so we were blindsided with outrageous charges. They claimed touch up paint costs $650, and when we reached out to get an explanation. Charla replied with the most unprofessional email I have seen from a business. She rudely stated that we just didn't fully understand the cost of repairs. She went on to say we were lucky to only be charged $650 since another unit Tower Realty manages was ripped off for $2,000. All of these "repairs" were done without move out inspection, so that we cannot dispute the claims. This business is experienced in scamming, they know all the tricks in the book to take extra money out of their tenants, and are more than happy to use them on their college tenants. read more

As an active duty Naval Officer, I can't be more pleased with the service I have received from Mr. Coker and his team. I was stationed in the Austin area from 2007-2010. When I left, I had two options. Sell my house and maybe break even or rent it out. Chesney convinced me that he and his team could easily manage the property and all I would have to do is cash the check. It's been over five years and my house in Kyle has had three good tenants. I have since been stationed in Pearl Harbor HI and Monterey CA. The place hasn't been vacant for more than a week. This puts me at ease when I move from one place to another. Every time a new tenant has come in...he analyzes the rental market and every time I have seen rents increase. Which means more for my family and me. I am very appreciative of his help. Recently, I asked his opinion on selling my home. The Austin area is booming right now and quite frankly I would make a nice profit on my home, if I sold. Chesney could have listed my property and sold it very easily. Netting us both a nice chunk of change. I was impressed that his answer was to keep it. He advised that rents are still going up and so are the values of the home. His knowledge of real estate and rental market is outstanding. He will do the right thing. Beware! They took first month's rent of nearly $2000 as Application FEE. That's insane. Application fees should run $50-$100, not thousands of dollars. My son thought it was a deposit, but it was only the FEE. It took about 3 months for them to give the money back, but they had no obligation to do so.My son signed the application and handed over the money without understanding that this is not the norm. I own rental property in Austin and this fee amount is ludicrous. read more
