I had Jay for a back and neck massage. I have an extremely sore neck, the pain has been awful. I allowed deep pressure, which hurts a bit, but really loosens things up. I may not have been completely relaxed lol since this is a massage with strong pressure but what he did was miraculous. Within 45min I felt SO much better. I'll need a few more sessions but I'm so impressed with the fact he really knows what points to press and stretch to alleviate the situation. The entire day I even feel taller lol!

Got a call at 9pm (woke baby up) to tell me that they couldn't confirm a 90 minutes reservation for my husband because the masseuse may or may not be able to do a 90 minute massage. (Turns out the masseuse had an injury and they weren't sure if she could do a 90minute) 4. Husband's masseuse (the one with the injury) didn't ask him how the pressure was even ONCE and barely applied any pressure. If your staff is injured, then they really shouldn't be performing massages. We were on vacation and this was supposed to be our special treat. It turns out it was the catalyst for ruining on morning and day. Also, FYI. the location is SUPER hidden (which staff should really let people know, especially when they say they're from out of town). Miss the street and it will take you another 5-10 minutes to get back around.

Need a great masseur in Austin???…read more Well I have to say I have found one of the best! I had actually been turned off to massage over the last few years and Elizabeth Meador a licensed Massage Therapist here in Austin has changed all that for me. I have frequent pain in my neck and back and let's face it for those of us who live on a computer 8-10 hours a day 6 days a week who doesn't experience some type of chronic neck or back pain from being hunched over a monitor all day? So suffice it to say I really am so impressed when her technique, soothing personality, and tranquil environment... so much so, that I have already set my next appointment for the beginning of December! She is truly gifted... Elizabeth does integrative massage, deep tissue massage, prenatal / post-partum massage, and craniosacral therapy which is (& I am totally stealing this verbiage from her website) an amazing tool for helping the body release stuck energy in a very non-invasive way. Using cues from the cranio-sacral rhythm (the flow of cerebro-spinal fluid from the brain through the spinal cord), we can tap into areas of restriction. A session will include 10-steps for helping the body release the restrictions in the craniosacral system, namely the skull, spinal cord and meninges of the brain and spinal cord. By releasing these areas, we can experience release of deeply held tension, pain and anxiety. Email her to setup an appointment: elizabeth@meadormassage.com

I first went to Nina Powers in 2004 when my shoulder, as a result of my back being poorly aligned, tied itself into a knot and refused to come undone. Nina was the only person who could meet me at 8 PM, which was when I got done with work, and after an hour-long massage, I felt like a new person. I went to Nina just last week, six days before my sister's wedding in New Engalnd, because I lifted a heavy table and completely messed up my back. She was kind enough to see me the day I called, worked on me for nearly two hours, until almost 10 PM on a Friday night. I spent the rest of the weekend recovering, but I firmly believe that the only thing that helped me get on the road to recovery and kept me out of the pain doctor's office getting another steroid injection was because of Nina's work! I rode horses for many years and we constantly were evaluating them for lameness issues, trying to find the source of their leg or back pain. I feel that Nina looks at people with the same sort of eye -- you should watch them walk and turn, see how they sit or lie down, and then begin your work. If you are looking for a massage therapist who will truly help you feel and live better, not just relaxed, go to Nina.
