2 weeks ago I had a wonderful massage experience with Russ yesterday. He works with intention, and understands how to warm the tissue with some excellent swedish skills before proceeding to deeper tissue, highly detailed work (a combination which I greatly appreciate, told him so, and he listened). He understood my pressure preferences, as well, and I felt like he was listening to both my words, and the response of my tissues and energy. I am a massage therapist and have had many massages in my life and many types of massage. This was my favorite hands-on massage in quite some time. I felt relaxed, nurtured, and my nagging muscular tensions responded really well both to being in that state and to his techniques. I randomly decided to get a massage on an early afternoon from work. Zach was available, and i showed up to a nice calming reception area. As a former rugby player who works out 4-5 times aweek, I'm not a small person and have usually experienced deep tissue massages that are really aggressive and painful - the good kind of pain, but still. To my surprise, Zach didn't go right for the trapezius muscles, but approached my shoulders and back from my arms up, and my hips up. With targeted pressure, he relieved a ton of soreness and tension from my shoulders and back without just kneading the muscles. I was thoroughly impressed, and looking forward to the next visit, which i booked before leaving, and upgraded to 90 minutes from 60 too. They should rename this place- The Muscle Whisperers. I was desperate for a post-marathon sports massage that would actually get my legs running again and wouldn't break the bank. I've been to several places around town and still haven't found THE best hands to recover my muscles. Until now! OMG, Chris is amazing. He did a very detailed assessment of my leg issues before he started to work on me. Once he got to work, he really worked hard to dig into every little and big muscle in my legs. He was very thorough and an expert on how muscles work together/etc....Today my legs feel so much better and I was able to run a little bit without any pain/tightness in my legs. Tierney is amazing! I saw her throughout my pregnancy and loved that she had the pregnancy pillow that allowed me to lay on my stomach even in the last trimester. She gave the right amount of pressure and really worked out the knots in my back. I do not know what I would've done without her! I came in with half of my upper back seized up and really limited mobility in my neck. Tierney was very deliberate in making sure she was applying enough pressure to unwind my muscles without straining them. She talked me through my muscle spasms and took the time to explain which muscle groups were at play within my neck, back, sternum and collarbone areas. If it is a relaxing massage where you walk out feeling refreshed for about 5 minutes and then feel pain again, then this is not the place to go. They will get into your muscles and they know what they're doing. My massage therapist, Barbara, was extremely knowledgeable, especially when I asked questions about why certain spots were in pain and she explained which muscles I could massage on my own to help with things such as charlie horses. The rooms were very relaxing and the scheduling process was very easy, as the owner was very tentative in emailing me to help me set something up. If you are someone who has issues with pain, I highly suggest going here and beginning to work on certain problem areas and you will notice a difference. read more
