First and foremost this review was written for my boss. He doesn't have a Yelp and I told him I could write it for him if he told me what to put. "I'm going to try and write this review without letting my emotions get the best of me and just state the facts in as short of a post as possible. So I prepaid/ordered some rocks from here and they delivered the wrong size after I called to make sure they were delivering the correct amount and they even sent me a picture of what they were delivering. Then when it got here it wasn't what I ordered. Next issue I had was I ordered some edging but they did not have enough for my total order so they gave me a portion of it (which did not include all of the stakes) Then I was told the rest of the order would be here today then when I came in they said it wasn't available. I would not be so upset if they would have communicated with me when they found out it wouldn't be here. My next issue I had was when I came in to state my issues there was not enough of a sense of urgency to solve my problem and I did not feel like they were taking my issues seriously. I ordered 3 yards of granite, and they maybe delivered 1. Their office staff is extremely unhelpful and snarky. I took them photos, comparing what I should have gotten and what I actually got. Zero attempt to resolve the issue even after I PROVED MY CASE. Now, seeing the multiple negative reviews saying the same thing, I won't be returning. I love the limestone rocks I purchased. Downside---THE SOIL IS NOT SAFE to use on plants. I purchased some 'grower's mix' soil for use on my plants. After reading a review from a few years ago on another site about how garden plants died when planted in these folks' soil, I arranged a test before I committed to using it in the garden. I AM SO GLAD I DID! I have photographic evidence of the differences between their grower's mix and the naturally-occurring clay soil in my front yard. The one planted in their soil, with nothing added, is no longer growing. It is a green-bean. The ones planted in my yard are doing well. This place is very close to where we live, so we were able to go there in person to look at all of the samples they have. Wanted to order garden soil and some grey sandstone. They have a great selection to choose from so I guess that gets them one star. So we stood at the window and placed our order. 1.5 yards of soil and 1 yard of rock. Unfortunately, that's two delivery trucks because the items needed to be carried separately. I get it, but at $70 each (for about a two mile journey,) would be nice if there was some sort of discount for that. But instead of a discount, what I discovered on my receipt after making payment, was that there was a "handling" fee for each item that was ordered. It didn't add up to much, but just bake it into your prices instead of making me feel like you're nickel and diming me. So after tax, we paid $365.57 for 2.5 yards of product and one small roll of weed block. ($188 worth of product and $177.57 for delivery and fees.) And yes, the roll of weed block also had it's own "handling" fee. After we arrived back home a few minutes later, I got a call from the office letting me know that she hadn't charged me properly. She said we needed to pay a $35 surcharge because we didn't order three yards of product. At this point, I told her we just wanted to cancel the order. I felt like all of the additional charges were excessive and none of this was disclosed prior to purchase. She put me on hold and came back on the line and told me that her manager said she could waive the surcharge. Thanks but no thanks. After seeing all of the handling fees, paying full delivery price of $70 per item for a two mile delivery and then getting a call telling me they wanted to charge me more - just started to feel taken advantage of as a customer. So I told her I appreciated that but we still wanted to cancel the order. She puts me on hold again and then next person to pick up the phone was an extremely rude and curt woman. She starts arguing with me, telling me they offered to waive the fee. I told her how there were all of these additional fees that weren't disclosed prior to payment and that in the end, we were paying as much in delivery and fees as we were in product and that we no longer wanted the order. Then she informs me that I signed a disclaimer that there are no refunds and I told her that not only did I not sign a disclaimer, that I didn't even receive it until my paid receipt was stapled to it. We argued some more and finally she put me on hold and someone else picked up and processed my refund. I appreciate that they did end up giving me my money back. But their practices, at a minimum, feel dishonest and their customer service is beyond the worst. If you're reading these reviews to determine if you want to do business with this company, I urge you to reconsider. I ordered Colorado River Rock 1-3", when it arrived and dumped I was shocked how big it was, when our neighbors came over they too were shocked. The average rock was 5" and yes that is long and circumstances. I called and they asked me to send pictures. We showed measurements and they said that all sales are final and no way the rock could get through their screen if bigger. They refused to exchange or pick up or even come look! We had to sell to a neighbor at a loss, he has 5-8" Colorado in his yard and it matched what he had! So much for 1-3" I'm no mathematician but if someone advertises 1-3" of anything that would mean average size is 2" but some may be 1" or 3". If we had 1/8th of the load at 2" I'd be stretching it!!!! I would stay clear of these folks, they wouldn't even come look at what they delivered. My neighbor who at same time we ordered ours ordered 8 yards of rock. When they saw ours they put their order on hold. They ordered 1-3" also and didn't want that big either. They said the girl who answered phone was rude when he requested a hold, said all sales are final and if he was concerned he should come down and look in their yard to see what he would be getting. He did, he went to smaller, 1/4 to 2" I believe , and it was perfect! Beware Very sad to learn this is owned by the Whittlesey family. We bought a big piece of basalt here to be the base of a sculpture. We found a piece that would work (all 321 pounds of it) and that already had a 1.5" hole drilled in it (it was meant for a fountain). We thought it was a bit expensive, but it was what we needed. The transaction was quick, and they loaded it in the back of my pickup for us. If I had lots of money to landscape my back yard, I'd come here for the rocks and dirt. read more

The selection is good, but the customer service is not. We ordered rock to be delivered. The brochure and website told us the majority of the rock we ordered was washed. The rock was delivered and we began shoveling it only to discover it was full of dirt. We ended up having to sift our supposed 7 yards of rock to separate it from the dirt. We got the short end of the stick - less than 7 yards of rock plus between 1.5-2 yards of dirt. I called to complain and Daisy said the delivery guy had given us extra material. There is no way we got enough extra to actually make a full 7 yards. More than likely we just got extra dirt. I asked to speak to her supervisor & got Erika. Erika's response was that they cannot guarantee the quality of the material because it is natural and they don't manufacture it. She said that I should be grateful because the rock we ordered has been hard to come by and other customers have been fighting over it no matter what condition it is in. I told Erika that we had 5 different interactions with employees and not one person ever told us to expect a pile of dirt with our rock. She told me the delivery guy (Patrick) was actually the owner. That disappointed me even more, because he had a prime opportunity when he delivered the rock to tell us that it was full of dirt. Patrick didn't tell us a thing. As an owner you lead by example, and apparently his example is to dump the material, drive away, and then blame the quarry. This is the 4th major rock project we have done in the past 12 years, but our first in Austin. We have never had rock delivered full of dirt. It's always just come shovel-ready. What a mess! Update 6/15/18: since my original post we completed two other major projects which required materials. Both projects required contractors (propane tank installation and flood zone mitigation). We told both contractors not to use ALS, but due to timing both contractors did. Propane tank installation: delivery area was marked, but Patrick drove to a different part of the yard and almost ran over a small live oak. He proceeded to break branches off of another tree and dump the material in the wrong spot. He was unapologetic and rude. Flood zone mitigation: Patrick delivered the rocks and dumped them on the new section of driveway where our portable basketball goal was sitting. A lot of rock landed on the goal and cracked the base. Customer service, attention to detail, and courtesy are all lacking. I have no need to do business there. read more

Good Dirt!! I called them on Thursday for a Friday delivery. The driver called me, just like they said he would, to let me know that he was headed to my house. I've purchased several 12 cubic yard loads of screened loam during the past few months, and each delivery has been on time, hassle free, and dumped spot on where I need it by the driver(s)... which is no small task given the rather narrow corrider of access onto the lot into which the truck has to be backed up. The material itself has been of good quality, with no detritus, rocks, or large chunks to contend with. We ordered landscaping rock and we thought their price was reasonable. Boy was I wrong! Within two hours of leaving the place, they called to tell us that they charged us wrong and needed to charge more. I asked to speak to the owner, Patrick Whittlesey, and they said they would call him and ask him to call us. No call. They also promised the rocks within 6 to 8 days, it took three weeks. Again, I asked them to call the owner and ask for free delivery because they were so late, and they said that he wouldn't do that. Also, after checking prices, their price was way over the cost of Lowe's and Home Depot, even though the lady in the office swore that they were much cheaper than anywhere. What a joke this place is. They need better help in the office and an owner who cares about customer service. DON'T go there! read more

Paid for decomposed granite on Wednesday. First: they didn't apply 10% in store purchase Wednesday discount as noted on their website (and shame on me for not noticing). When brought to their attention, they counter offered to apply a 5% discount. They finally agreed to make up the difference by including 2 bags of mulch. Scheduled for Friday PM delivery. Received call after 5 PM they would reschedule for "priority" delivery on Saturday. Called Saturday around 9:15 AM inquiring as to a time window on delivery. Given vague and nebulous answer. Asked to speak to manager. Was told the manager was in "an important meeting" and what was it I wanted to talk to manager about. If I wanted the person who answered the phone to know what I wanted to speak with the manager about, I would have told her. They seriously lack customer skills. Still waiting on delivery. Buyer beware... Update: The material was delivered about mid morning. The driver, who I suspect is the owner, did a fantastic job of delivering the load. The company also included two additional bags of mulch at no extra cost. I told him the delivery and product was great, but the office could use some help. He mentioned being busy, behind schedule, down on drivers, and hiring new staff. I appreciated his honesty. The end result was good, but the journey getting there was a hair puller. read more

I've recently had the unpleasant experience of ordering stone from this company. I ordered 9 yards of stone on June 22 and told the saleswoman I'd be having the landscaper pick it up on July 3. The saleswoman then informed me that she would tell the yard man to "hold" the 9 yards of stone for me that my landscaper would be picking up on July 3. You guessed it, the landscaper went to pick it up today and was informed that Austin Landscape only had 3 yards in stock didn't know when they would be receiving more. Moments later, they informed my landscaper they had 6 yards, it's still 3 yards short! HELLO. This error on Austin Landscape part has completely messed up me and my landscaper's plans! We needed 4.7cubic yard of river rock and we ordered 5cubic yard to have extra just Incase. Well we spread out the rocks and was still short .59 cu yard. Wow! I can't believe it that you don't get what you paid for. On top of customer service is horrible. There is communication problem at that place. The driver needs practice on dumping stuff. We have a three car garage and we told him dump the rock o. The farthest left garage door and he manage to dump a bunch on the lawn. I have had other company deliver a lot more rocks and everything was on the drive way nothing on my lawn. I sent an email on 7/16 and no one bother to call back. I talked to Brenda to check if they received it and she told me I. 7/20 that Erica was out of the office until the next Tuesday of that week. I called back 8/6 and Brenda told me that Erica was in the meeting and that they don't call back unless there is a need to. BEWARE - The "Garden Soil" they are selling has WAY TOO MUCH CLAY in it. After just a few rains the soil gets so hard the water just runs off the top and not through to the roots. This means the clay content is too high. A proper garden mix should allow water to penetrate the surface allowing water to reach the roots, but not to fast as to allow the roots to "drink" some of the water as it passes through the soil. The Austin Landscape Supply problem soil was confirmed as well with one of our neighbors having the same problem. Its too late once you put it in your beds or gardens and have installed your plants. To fix the issue you have to remove the plants and add organic matter, which btw they claim is has, but clearly not enough, then work it into the soil. read more

Very poor customer service and handling of order. Called Monday for a delivery of soil for a new yard. After confirmation of delivery on Thursday, contacted another company to purchase sod to be delivered on Friday. Got a call Thursday afternoon stating that they couldn't be there. Was not given a reason, the phone operator refused to transfer me to a mangers because "he would give me the same answer". Stated that I ordered this with a confirmation of delivery so I could get grass in and asked her what we were going to do about the situation. Was told that was not her problem and that we would get it to you as soon a possible. This was poor handling of a situation, don't take orders if you can't fill them or have a backup plan. People don't just order dirt to have it sitting around and make plans about when to order other items so everything flows correct. I purchased 10 yards of "grower mixed" from them last months for my raised beds garden, they said will deliver the next morning and I kept waiting and calling...finally delivered their last patch at 6pm. Messed up my plan scheduled. The thing I'm mad about is they are falsely advertised their materials. The soil has lots of little rocks and fresh wood chips. On their description on the website no where said grower mixed has rocks or fresh wood chips in it. Looks like bad top soil. I called their office sent emails with pictures even asked someone to come out to take a look or review their camera see if they delivered the right material but they didn't answer me. Took my number said will call me back and no one done anything for 2 weeks now. I'm still waiting. My plants don't do well in this bad soil. I looked at other Yelps reviews and saw people with same problem with this soil...too late for me, I should have checked others reviews before. This place scammed me $438. Placed an order got confirmation of the order and then got a phone call from the Manager telling me that they were not going to deliver it because I did not meet my minimum and then I started to question her and she hung up on me and told me that I was not going to get the order. NICE!!!! I am hoping that the owner Kenneth Patrick calls me so that we can resolve this and I can change my opinion. Will keep you posted on the outcome. On balance not a great experience, but was made better in the end. We paid for the pricey, warm-toned Colorado Gravel 3/8-1.5" rock, 6 yards. On the delivery date there was a problem with the truck, so they left with our rock to return later. Except something was clearly working with the truck, because they deposited portions of our rock, like a sea of asteroids, for more than 1/2 mile, from our driveway, through our neighborhood, and out onto the public road creating a dangerous road hazard. We and our neighbors spent hours - along with the Cedar Park police, road crews, etc. - cleaning up this company's mess. When the driver returned, he took evasive action with the CP police and brought more rock than we ordered. This company never offered to help clean up their mess, but initially offered (and sent) extra rock as compensation to us for the hours of back-breaking work clearing the streets of their rock. Unfortunately, we ordered a bit more than we anticipated needing the first time, so the extra rock is now sitting in our side yard, 10" deep, while we now try to figure out where to put what we never wanted and were sent before we were able to refuse it. Eventually we received $100 back, after some back and forth negotiating, for having to clean up their driver's mess. We also received the wrong size rock, which we are now essentially stuck with. The company did eventually agree that they delivered the wrong size rock and is giving us the refunded difference. So, on balance, they did deliver rock to our home. However, it was not the correct size and the delivery experience was truly a nightmare. And what we received was incredibly filthy such that I'm awaiting a heavy downpour to assure me we received the rock we ordered. Were it my business, as the owner, I would have called personally, apologized profusely, and offered a full refund.
