Solid as a rock. You can come back here over and over and over again and it never gets old. I've never had trouble with service, with song variety, with price, with anything. So it's insanely easy to have a good time here. I've never even had a hard time getting a room on short notice. It's also BYOB which is always a good thing. It stays open super late. It's pretty cheap. I think it's around $5/person/hr which isn't bad at all. They have new songs a lot. The korean music videos that play in the background are really entertaining. I'm just rattling off good things about this place because I can't really find anything bad. Yea so, if you need something fun to do on short notice, with very little planning, pick up some booze and snacks and go to Austin karaoke. It will be fun, I guarantee it. Unless you and your friends don't like karaoke, in which case, you are lame, and I cannot help you. read more

So after my experience I went back and read some reviews and imagine my surprise when their poor experience matched mine. "At the end, a short little Korean guy charged me for 25 people for a full 3 hours. I was surprised and asked for him to double check. He said he's correct without blinking." This is exactly what happened to me. Even the part where he said he's correct without blinking. He claimed we had 20 people in the room right now. Much like the negative reviews the short one started getting angry and raising his voice when I disputed his charge. I told him there was no reason to raise his voice. He said "It's loud in hear and so I want to make sure you can hear me". Ha! In the end I paid the $300 even though I should have only paid $225. Afterwards we were cleaning the room and he came in and I counted how many people were inside. There was a total of 7. Then I challenged him to walk outside and count. We counted 4 more people smoking. hmmm....that would be a total of 11 not 20. He didn't offer to refund my money. They are just scamming large groups. Stay away if you have a large group. Read the other reviews. I wish I had. read more

Oooooo this place is niiiiiiice. The private rooms were $10 a person, per hour and very spacious and nice. Everything seems very new and fair-to-middlin' clean. BYOB is always a plus. They have some (non-alcoholic) drinks and snacks available for purchase, well. There are two microphones; I think one of them was wireless. The song selection is okay; not as expansive as Diamond Karaoke, to say the least, but okay. The oddest thing are the videos that play behind the words on the screen; so random. But sometimes, those movies and the song match up in hilarious combos. I enjoyed it and I'd go back, for sure. :) read more

This place will rip you off so beware!!! We had a party of 8 and a few of them left early and paid their portion after arguing with the guys up front because they were trying to say you can't split up the payment you have to pay on one card, (all split up the price) and at the end of the night I was charged for the whole price (none of the money that the other people paid was taken off my total price)!! When I figured all this out a few days after my friend told me it's happened to her at this place too!! Also during the time we were there the guys were nice the first 30min we were there but then later when we needed help working the karaoke he just looked mad and irritated!!! Won't be going back that's for sure!!!! read more

Went there this past weekend for a kickball teammate's party. Pros: -large rooms -good sound system -BYOB -open till 4 or 5a Cons: -HOT!!!!!! as in hott as hades...a ceiling fan, some air conditioning...that would help. I was really too uncomfortable. I mean..when you get a bunch of people in a room without any air, what do you expect? The drinks we all brought helped. -song book a little skimpy..like who doesn't have "holiday" and "into the groove" by Madonna??? Thats just one example...it was a bit challenging to find songs i wanted to sing. I may be back or no...I actually enjoy performing in front of strangers so a free spot suits me just fine. read more

I had the best time here.... but that was all because of the group and not because of the location. Austin Karaoke seems to have no concern about the customer... There was no friendly smile, or warm hello... there was no "Yes sir" or "Right away"... Just a real lack of concern from the staff. They are real stingy on price and not worried about making sure your visit is pleasant and you will be returning. The songbooks are only organized by song, the remote is labeled in Korean and they provide no instructions on how to use it, the music is badly recorded... In the day of Rockband... why do we need Austin Karaoke? read more

OUTTA MY WAY. Whitesnake has gone unsung and I am about to FILL. A. NEED. Where's my beer? Alright. Let's do this. ... Within the first five minutes of scream-singing, you and your friends are drenched in sweat. This place just is NOT well-ventilated. As the night progresses, you'll typically shift from hair metal, to 90s pop rock (ex., but DON'T look BACK IN ANGERRRRRRrrrrrRRRRr... I HEARD you sayyyyyYYYyyyy...) And as the tall boys of cheap beer take hold, you WILL attempt one of the thousands of K-Pop songs on the list (ex., SOUNDSSSSS... REALLY LOUD.... SOUNDS... AWKWARD. LAUGHTER. Alright, let's go back to Oasis.) And then you, delirious from sweating and not taking in sufficient liquid (beer, wine, and other such booze doesn't count when it comes to dehydration), will then try to decipher what is going on in the Korean music videos, which are used with English songs, and the emotions of song and video do not match up. You'll be skipping around WAKE ME UP BEFORE YOU GO-GO, and on the screen is some small, sad Asian girl holding a bear and crying on a curb. Makes no sense. And that makes it all the more awesome. read more

Asians love their karaoke and this is the best place to go in Austin! I love the fact that they have private rooms and the quality of the instrumentals and their sound system is way better than Highball. Also, they're open until 5am on weekends and there have been many times where my friends and I stayed until closing time. There are some things you should keep in mind though when coming here: 1) They will most likely try to rip you off in the end because they know you're hammered so try to negotiate a price for the room beforehand and "try" to keep track of what drinks are ordered 2) DO mix the soju with grape juice! It's so yummy and you won't remember how drunk you were until the next day. 3) This tends to be a hangout spot for shady wannabe gangsters and I've witnessed numerous "almost" fights so be careful! read more

First things first....you gotta love the BYOB policy. We had a party with about 40 guests and a ton of alcohol and beer. Yay. Now for the not so cool stuff...I wish the staff would have explained the big remote control that was not in English a little better and the songs in the book are listed by song title in lieu of by artist. So you better go with a plan of what you want to sing. We didn't find out until WAY into the night that you could get the songs listed by artist if you knew how to read the remote. I will reinforce what Mike L. said about making sure guests that leave before the end check out. Our bill at the end of the night was close to $500. read more

This place is honestly a top 5 spot for me. I've been on a rapant search for activities that involve major drinking, music, and just fun having in Austin outside of downtown and this place is it. Took a group of 13 for a birthday party. Showed up around 130 AM on Sat. We sang to every song possible and danced to the classics i.e. men in black, getting jiggy with it, and your favorite.. macarena. By 430 AM the bottles were empty and my voice was gone, but the memories of that night will never run dry. Bring whatever you want to drink, cool people, and just go. We ended up singing to every song in huge groups and seriously had a boss time. Just go here. read more

Austin Karaoke is the place where you can sing with your pants off! NO PANTS THURSDAYS, Y'ALL! Ok. While that may not be 100% accurate, Austin Karaoke is one of those places where you get your own room so if vodka fueled Backstreet Boys is your thing, then so be it. BACKSTREET'S BACK, Y'ALL One big huge giant caveat: AK is BYOB which is a huge double edged sword. Great if you planned your evening accordingly with a cooler fill of liquor, beer and mixers. But kind of shitty if you made the decision to go after getting closed out at Blackstar COOP down the street. GOT NO PINOT GREEGE, Y'ALL How you gonna keep the party going? ... Especially when you can't buy all that good stuff? You're gonna need that liquid lube when you hear some "basic bitch" who thinks she's Rihanna try to belt out some classic Britney. I don't think so miss thang. HIT ME BABY ONE MORE TIME, Y'ALL It really is a fun place and they're open late. They have a pretty weak selection of English songs though and thus my rating. If you're a karaoke hound you should check out DK sushi on Thursdays. It's a good party. read more

Now, my friends, this is a must... Gather a group of your rowdiest friends, a cooler of beer and snacks, and head north on Lamar to Austin Karaoke. Welcome to super-sized karaoke. Upon arrival, your party will be led to their own private room, featuring a giant television screen, two remote controls (good luck!), a couple of hand-held microphones, and a booth-style pleather-esque couch that spans three walls. Get comfortable, because you'll spend the first half-hour of your time trying to get the songs from their original Korean format into English. When you finally arrive at the English playlist, you'll be slightly disappointed in the rather old-school collection, but it won't matter because someone will have already found Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" and the beer you're ENCOURAGED to bring along will be tasting good and cold. Hopefully, you'll be buzzed enough to let it go that the speaker volume goes far beyond the noise-decibel per sq. ft. ratio that your ears would probably prefer. If the music is getting to you, just concentrate on the "videos" projecting from the flat screen - happy Koreans frolicking hand-in-hand down the beach. There's plenty of room to dance, plenty of songbooks to pass around, and plenty of opportunity for foolishness at this hilarious and ingenious venue. As they say, laughter is the best medicine, and any group will benefit from this light-hearted experience (kids, bday parties, bachelor/ette parties, adults, tourists, out-of-towners, or a clan of your best friends). A few hints before you go. 1) Call ahead to reserve on a weekend night. 2) They charge by the hour and your group size (the prices are very reasonable). 3) The song "Copa Cabana" is longer than you think. 4) And most importantly: if you leave to go to the restroom, make sure you note which room you departed from...walking in on a random group karaoking is a common occurrence, and trust me...it's not as easy to spot your friends from strangers when they are jumping up and down to Madonna's "Like a Prayer". It's the type of place that will come up years from now when you're sitting around the kitchen table with friends and family saying, "Remember that time at Austin Karaoke..." And then you'll all enjoy a healthy does of side-splitting guffaws. read more

I hate karaoke with a passion. I basically use it as an excuse to drink and make fun of my friends. This place gets the job done. They have a huge variety of songs. Most of the playlist are Korean songs however. It's BYOB and there's a liquor store next to this place which is very convenient. We had a hard time using the oversized remote to select songs because all of the buttons are in Korean. If you hate karaoke as much as I do go next door and get a bottle of booze. It'll ease the pain of your friends annihilating the songs you really love. read more

Austin Karaoke - the front of the restaurant at night - Karaoke Near Me - Austin, Texas

A full-on concur, Sarah and Angela. When I was briefly dating the zygote, he brought me and a throng of his (fun) college friends, and it was ON. Like entering a different world, we were the only crackers here, and saw ourselves getting sucked into the cult of Karaoke as it became less of a fun drunken thing and more of a desperate American Idol-try-out-for-a-better-life-for-my-crack-baby kind of thing. Personally, I thought I really raised the bar with my version of "I Want It That Way." Maybe it was the cases upon cases of beer we slammed (you can smoke in here, too, and it really gets disgusting). Maybe it was the fact that everyone sings, so no one can laugh if you're being serious (or delusional). Either way, this place is GENIUS. Korean woman that runs this place does it with an iron fist, is fair on pricing, and kind to her patrons. Bigger the group, the more fun you'll have. read more

It's in the ONLY Korean strip mall in this part of Texas. Better than some of the places here in Cali. Seriously. Clean. Comfy. HUGE selection of songs. Very Current. Multi-ethnic selections. Vietnamese, AND Pinoy! (No shit you Pareh!) Really good equipment. Fair prices. We went in sober, we came out drunk. We had...the time of our life...and I never felt this way before...I swear.... Ooops. I better stop now. read more

Damn, what are we going to do for Pedro's birthday/anniversary/engagement/girlfriend was just late/briss/coming out/staying in/Nobel Prize recipient/AA graduation party? Stop googling "creative party ideas". Start calling Austin Karaoke (noreban for those in the know). And keep reading. Do this: -Invite friends (like Pedro) who are great -Bring a cooler of whatever is legal in Somalia -Have all your great friends sign in when they arrive and pay when they leave according to the time of their life they had -Ask for the tambourine from the front desk The only thing that lacks are the quantity of the English songs, but not the quality dear friends. If your vocal cords haven't formed pustules after the 400+ English songs there are 18 books of Korean songs to choose from. And regardless of the song, you can always enjoy the teenage melodrama unfolding on the screen before you, blissfully independent of the song you've selected. Reserve on weekends. read more

I had a pretty fab bachelorette party here a couple of months ago. In fact, it was so good that my memory of the occasion is just now starting to come back! We rented a private room and brought an ice chest full of delicious drinks - hard alcohol, beer, wine...you name it we had it in there! Luckily, some of my girls remembered to pack a few crucial items that they do not have there: cups, ice, something to stir with and paper towels. They are located in a very nondescript strip mall. I have to admit I was a little weirded out at first but once you enter the doors you see it's actually a very clean, nice space. There is a desk where you check in then they show you to your room and briefly explain how to use the equipment. Oh, the equipment. What an experience! I went to place like this once in LA and once again, everyone found it hilarious. The remote was entirely in...not English. They pointed to 3 crucial buttons for us to use and we didn't push ANYTHING else too afraid to break something. The music selection was fine, though there were some newish hits that we couldn't find. I do wish that the books were organized by artist instead of song title...reading through song titles is super time consuming! Be sure to watch the videos playing during your songs...they are hilarious and made the night that much more silly. For the price and convenience of BYOB this place can't be beat! read more

I was a singer in a previous life and I am a total karaoke whore. When I heard about this place, I was so excited that I booked my hub's birthday festivities at this place. Lucky guy! Pros: Private rooms so only your friends can point and laugh at your singing. BYOB + complimentary cups and ice - yay! Cons: As another reviewer said, the lack of an itemized bill. The next day when we sat down and looked at our bill, we realized they overcharged us by about $75. In the smaller rooms, it's $20 per hour PLUS an additional $5 per hour, per person. This gets expensive, quickly. The lack of songs by artist in the playbook. After a few drinks choosing your song becomes next to impossible because really, who knows song names? I'd go back though, late at night, after payday. read more

This place rocks! What could be better than BYOB and food in your own private room with friends? I'll help you.. NOTHING. We love it here. We just have an anniversary party with some friends, rented the biggest room, brought drinks, food, balloons, drinks.. ..And at some point, someones clothes usually come off... and we're sorry if you accidentally saw that... The sound does get a little loud sometimes, but I like to think its to make you sound better on the mic. You don't want to catch me belting out in my car. The staff is so nice. And they also have a few snacks and drinks for purchase. (And a few Korean snacks if that's your fancy... Patricia) read more

Looking for cheap karaoke fun? This is the place for you. Looking for good karaoke (is that an oxymoron?), then you might want to try elsewhere. Austin Karaoke is cheap fun, because it runs about $5 per person per hour, plus its BYOB, which saves some serious $$$$. I like that each room has a disco ball and tambourines. But keep those lights turned down low, because those rooms DO NOT look good in bright light. The song selection is a little weak, only about 20% are in English. And the microphones only seemed to half work, but that didn't stop my group of girls from having a good time. read more

I'm warning you. It gets swampy and hot in these rooms. I don't know why. You walk out of the room and it's a comfortable temperature. You walk in and it's a sauna. The videos they have playing along with your song are hilarious and out of context. It's a fun place to have a party and it's byob. That really helps get the party going. All their songs are listed by title so good luck with that. I also question their billing. When I got there, the guy told me it would be about $5 an hour per person. When we checked out, the bill was way more than that. So if you have people coming in and out, make sure they check out and pay. I think that was some of the confusion. If you love to sing, but are scared to do it at a bar. Gather up a group of friends and sing your little hearts out here. You might want to bring fan. read more

I love to karaoke (Yes, I suck at singing) and this is the only place where I can get a group of friends to go and make fools of themselves. You get your own room, it's BYOB and there are hilarious videos playing during your songs. The rooms do get very hot, so make sure to wear something that breathes. Leave the wool sweater at home! The song list is decent, but I have seen better. There is definitely enough cheese to get people laughing. The bill can get pricey depending on how many people are there, how many you initially reserved, etc. Although, since you're not dishing out on drinks all night, I would call it even.... Oh and yes, you have to reserve a room. read more

This is about as close as I'm going to get to my true karaoke dream: being dropped into a pit with a bunch of friends and singing songs to each other all night long. If you dream of being Bill Murray from "Lost in Translation" (and really, who doesn't???), then this is the place for you. If you're a shy shower singer and want to give this singing stuff a shot...then doggone it you get yourself to Austin Karaoke and hit up one of the rooms! Austin Karaoke is an asian-style karaoke bar, with several private rooms available ranging in size from 6 to 25 people. You make your reservation, show up, get about 5 seconds of instruction on the monster remote control and are let loose on the list of songs. Do they have the 100k song selection that some of the other bars in town have? Well, I don't know. Most of the book is filled with songs from one or more asian languages. So unless you can read those lyrics, you're limited to a fairly compact list of songs. But they have all the karaoke standards, and you'll be fun and drunk. Why do I say that? Because it's BYOB!!! Yes, you can roll a cooler into the room chock full of moonshine and pickles and eat and drink yourself stupid. Why do I ding them a star? Simply because of the limited song selection. But it's quite hilarious when the music for your song turns out to be midi-based and the video for "Thank God I'm A Country Boy" looks like a scene from the korean version of Raging Bull. read more

Well, we really wanted to karaoke and the original place we wanted to go to was completely full. They referred us to Austin Karaoke and we were lucky to get a small room for the night. The neighborhood is a bit stabby, but we heard nothing but joyful out of tune singing when we entered. You can BYO libations and snacks and they even provide cups and bottle openers here - all you need to do is ask the nice people in the front. I loved the scenes playing in the background of the lyrics - it looked like scenes from a Asian travel show that were spliced together. We had no problems with our equipment, but one of the seats in our room did collapse under the weight of one of our friends. The place isn't the cleanest and people can get a bit rambunctious in the wee hours of the night, but singing louder and being roudier than your neighbors is a great remedy for that. They charge by the hour so keep an eye on the time and ask for rates beforehand because they did not tell us how the payment worked up front. Other than that, I would keep an open mind for this place and enjoy singing along to your favorite one-hit-wonders! read more

I can't, in good conscience, give this place more than a star. Little interaction with staff besides the beginning and end. Facilities were normal (kinda run down, but the price seemed right) BYOB is a convenient touch. Song list is more robust than you realize if you search the machine, but if you're only left to use the books they provide (all of which do not match up with what is available and seem to be in every language but the one I'm typing in) then it can seem like there's not much at all. It all seemed very nice and transparent, and had an authentic charm until the very very end. The part that gets really inconvenient is the way in which they complicate the simplest transaction. You'll find out very early on the going rate: $5 dollars, per person, per hour. It's not a bad deal, though one crucial detail they seemed to intentionally leave out until the very end was that they CANNOT charge more than one card. No, it's IMPOSSIBLE. Technology does not ALLOW split-tender transactions. Therefore, people CANNOT pay for themselves individually. They'll watch you shuffle and they'll laugh as your group figures out how to Venmo or ATM the problem away, to get the main persons ID back (they take it for ransom because it's impossible to charge more than one card, so they gotta have someone's ID to make sure only one card pays) It was just mind boggling. No more than one card. We can't. No. We can take cash but no more than one card because why? Transaction fees? Do you want an extra dollar, buddy? I'll pay a convenience fee, just don't leave people standing there with no solution. Unacceptable and disrespectful sums up this business. There's other places that will let you split the transaction. Everyone would be better off going there next time. read more

I'm not going back into this place until they add "Nuthin' But A 'G' Thang" (Dre/Snoop) to their catalog. Otherwise, I claim discrimination against people with horrid singing voices but impeccable rap delivery. Yes, harsh. Edit 1/30/08: Changed from * to * * * *. Love the concept. The private, byob setup is great. Reasonably priced for a group too. I wish the catalog were a bit more extensive. Lots of karaoke places these days are including very recent songs to their catalog. Also, these are not the original tunes, but fakes like you used to hear come on Knight Rider's stereo back in the day so that NBC didn't have to pay royalties. But once you drink enough you forget that the sax intro in Careless Whisper is synth, and it's "...nowwwww, whose gohhhhnnna daaaance with meeeeeeeee...". And come on...those videos! It's like they're on a randomization program or something. I challenge anyone to match a video to a song. But they're weird and funny nonetheless. This place is good times. read more

Last night we partied it up with coworkers at Austin Karaoke, a freaking awesome whirlwind of colorful lights and loud jams that bounce and roll all over the room. I pretty much stayed planted in my seat most of the night for fear that if I ventured toward the front of the room someone would throw a microphone at me and cue Journey's "Any Way You Want It." Basically, I'm chicken shit. But, if I had a group of great friends with me, I'd totally go back and sing my heart out. I'd deduct half a star if I could, because if I were to sing my heart out it would be to the likes of Tenacious D, Willie Nelson or Dwight Yoakam, none of whom were in the song book. read more

I've never claimed to be a fan of karaoke. Mainly because it's usually done by random fools who think they could win a reality singing competition or people who just choose the absolute worst songs possible (yeah, I'm talking to you, "Date Rape"-singing dude from Canary Hut). However, if it's a group of your friends in your own private room left to your own devices with a plethora of booze that you didn't even have to smuggle in (since it's allowed), it's a whole different story. Now, I didn't actually get to sing because a few in our group totally monopolized our karaoke time, but I did particularly want to belt out a little Rick Astley. There isn't a huge selection of songs, and most of the listings are in Korean, and nearly all of the pages are sticky and stuck together. Plus, nearly all of us in the group are college-educated but it was still pretty tricky to figure out how to use the machine. We could've benefited from a tutorial from Mr. Karaoke Dude up front, because we had to keep calling him in our room to help us. But, it was a fun time and I wasn't subjected to random, obnoxious karaokers. Plus, if you don't stay a full hour, they pro-rate. We were there for 45 minutes and it was $4 each, so that was a nice surprise. If nothing else, it's a nice place to hang out with your friends and you don't have to worry about messing up someone's house. read more

After going to this place for years, I've moved on to Hi Tunes Karaoke. We have been overcharged the last few times. They used to take everyone's ID when they checked in, but they have stopped doing that. Perhaps this is an attempt to make more money off of drunk people. It was fun while it lasted, but I'm not coming back. The liquor store next door is convenient, but it doesn't outweigh the oversized tables which crowd the room, the old TVs, and the run down bathrooms. read more

I went to Austin Karaoke last night to celebrate a friend's birthday. I would definitely recommend it. You can reserve on weekends only, so plan accordingly! It's basically a venue for your party. Bring your food, drinks and your singing voice. Bring friends you'd be comfortable making an ass out of yourself with. Fun times. Song list is pretty legit (more so if you're Asian, no offense, just saying there are lots of songs there that are non-English). Although you've got to search by song name, flipping through pages, and I honestly can't remember songs like that. I'm more the "hey you remember that song thats like: baby baby baby ooooooooh" type. :) Time can fly by quickly, so be mindful of that, haha! read more

I could not fathom that I would ever Be without your love Never imagined I'd be Sitting here beside myself Cause I didn't know you Cause I didn't know me But I thought I knew everything I never felt ... When you left I lost a part of me It's still so hard to believe Come back baby, please Cause we belong together That's how I feel about leaving Austin Karaoke forever in just a couple of weeks. I didn't realize how much I loved myself and my voice until I came here. I'm pretty much amazing. And I can sing the hell out of a Mariah song. Or at least that's how Austin Karaoke will make you feel when you go there. I DON'T CARE if you're shy, or if you're a cool guy "who's not really into music". You will flip through those binders with lists of thousands of songs and you WILL FIND ONE that will speak to your soul. It's the cheapest fun I've had in college and it's open till probably like 6am. Take the cab ride over and have the time of your life! The only bad part is that I wish they organized their music by Artist instead of Song Title to make searching easier. This place makes me feel like a celebrity. read more

When I first went here, I almost walked out, but I stayed and I'm glad I did! Me and a bunch of my friends had a bday party here awhile back and it was pretty reasonable. I personally paid about $20 for 4 hours of awesomeness. Each person pays for how long they were there, which was pretty convenient First off, let me just say that private karaoke rooms are amazing. This was my first experience and I loved it. Nearly half of the song books are all in other languages, but there's still a good amount of songs in English. The place seemed sorta seedy at first and it's definitely no frills, but once you get comfortable, it's not that bad. Our private room was clean and the place is BYOB, so that was pretty sweet. We had a couple tv screens and two microphones in our room. There's a big square table surrounded by booth seating on three sides. We fit all our snacks and booze on the table and had plenty of room for all of us to sit. There's plenty of room to get up and dance too if you feel so inclined. The sound-proofing was excellent as we never really heard any other singers in other rooms (even though we knew they were there). The temp was just right in the room. Not too hot but not too cold. All in all, an awesome way to work up a sweat and lose your voice. I had a lot of fun and will be back! TIP: Go with a big group (it's more fun that way) and brings lots of snackies. read more

Pros - Cheap, laid back, BYOB, good large selection of songs. Cons - this place is RUN DOWN. Now, it makes sense because it's a byob place so it's probably frequently used by super drunk people. However, they really need to remodel or fix some basic things up including the sinks in the bathrooms, and any broken hard ware in the room at minimum. There also needs to be better a/c or air flow as it got hot in the room very quickly. Overall, I wouldn't mind coming back because of the price and the fact that basically no one bothered us. But there are probably nicer options out there if you're not just looking to get totally wasted. read more

I've been here a few times, but wild horses couldn't drag me back in. The place is badly ventilated. The last time, I brought my own fan to keep the room cool. With all the money they rip off of people, you'd think they'd put in a decent A/C system and update their songlist. The remote is sometimes difficult to operate. If you put in the wrong number for a song, it can mess up the queue you and your friends have going. They tack on all kinds of fees to the bill at the end of the night. Even though all my friends paid their share, there was still a $200 bill. Either these guys can't do math, or it's just a shady business. There's other choices for karaoke in the city. Try them before you resort to the lovely experience of getting ripped off here. read more

How do I talk about the ways I love Austin Karaoke? They popped my karaoke cherry and I couldn't think of a place more worthy to pop it! Their catalogue is very complete and has songs in both English and Spanish. I was able to rock out (despite the obvious lack of talent): -I just died in your arms tonight (cutting crew feat. me) - Corazon Espinado (Santana feat. Maná and me) - Somebody told me (The Killers feat. me) -Fly me to the Moon ( Frank Sinatra feat. Me) - Like a Prayer (Madonna feat. Me.... I can't believe I just openly admitted to that) It's BYOB and food, making this place AWESOME for birthday parties, or if you're looking to have an inexpensive night-like the one time I went and paid $25 for 5 hours and walked in with 2-40's of Dos XX! A good time will be had by all! read more

This is the place people go in a last ditch effort to woo the women of 6th. Srs. It is a great place and I have been here many times after a night downtown. The song selection is on point as well (I suggest all star from Shrek). The establishment is also byob so its good for continuing the process of utterly destroying and eventually sending your liver into the shadowrealm. read more

I threw a party here in June and it was a blast. I imagine the fun-factor is highly dependent on the crowd you bring though. We had tons of booze, pizza, sushi and yummy stuff. We probably could have had fun anywhere, but this was a central location and none of my stuff got broken (unlike a house party)! There were no unexpected charges when I checked out, even though previous reviews had made me really nervous. I did spend a lot of time trying to get the room pristine after the party. For some reason the guys at the desk seemed reluctant to give me a big stack of paper towels. We spilled a lot of stuff, I really needed those! The ventilation leaves a lot to be desired and I really would have liked more English song books. The videos they play are crazy and the scoring system boggles the mind. And I probably shouldn't brag about this but my fiance got a perfect score on a Guns N Roses song, the highlight of his birthday. read more
