Austin Green Team did a complete overhaul of our house. Through every step they were thorough, professional, and fair. They had good communication with us, and showed up promptly every morning to do their work with all the tools necessary for that days task(s). They got the job done quickly in a very reasonable 3 days. They went above and beyond to make sure the job was done correctly down to the smallest detail. They even helped me with a couple of small tasks outside the scope of their job just to be nice. Everything passed with flying colors during the city's inspection, with no issues at all. Do NOT use this company for energy audits. Two of my clients have hired them (not on my recommendation) and one of them paid up front and never got their audit and never got a refund. One of them has been given two time windows last week for an audit and both times, no one showed up. I asked what company they used and when they told me, I was like oh no! If you have AC woes, go with Austin Green Team! Needless to say, replacing my failing air condition was not on my summer fun list. That said: Trent was efficient and professional and the system is working great. Even better, they work with the city energy rebate program so that you don't have to. The crew was very detail oriented and answered all my questions. I was kept in formed throughout the entire process. AND they did a whole lot more improvements for less money than any other large company I had out for estimates. Yet again Austin Green Team has far exceeded my expectations! I've been in my little house for a year now, and since the Green Team did a great job meeting my immediate needs last year, I decided to call them now that I want to get a few more things done. ( I bought an older home that need many updates to be energy efficient, so I have something done every few months.) I called Jeremy, told him everything I wanted quotes for and how incredibly awful my schedule is, and he found a time slot that worked for all parties. Within 5 minutes of our appointment time a team of guys were walking around my home, taking measurements and making a list of what would work best. One of these gentlemen was, Greg, my A/C expert. This guy is brilliant! My a/c was cooling but running alot and making a horrible noise to let me know it was struggling. The noise alone was giving me ulcers.... But one (not so short) visit from Greg later and the noise was gone and my house was cooler. He also noticed something wrong in my attic and made suggestions on how to get it fixed. I would have never seen that! I really appreciated the thorough inspection and explanation of the issues with my cooling system and I'm looking forward to working with the other members to follow through on some of the other suggestions. These guys know HVAC. Back when I first moved into my house in 2011, the motor on the AC unit outside made a lot of mechanical noise. The system was approaching 20 years old. One day in the middle of the summer, it seized up and stopped running. I called one of those home warranty people that you might get. They sent out some guy who didn't fix the problem and said it wasn't covered under the warranty and left me to roast in the 90+ degrees inside. So I looked at the Austin Energy Powersaver program to find out which companies work with them, and found Austin Green Team and that they were based around my neighborhood. Met Greg, the lead tech, who worked out in the heat and replaced the motor. Found out that he was nuclear engineer on a Navy sub in the past and he explained why it was breaking down. Needless to say, he got the AC back up that day. A few months later, we had a tune-up/inspection scheduled for the heating element. Discovered that the evaporator coil was dirty and moldy because the filter wasn't installed right and leaked air around the filter, for years. Also, duct work wasn't insulated and leaking, and I had the energy bills to prove that this was getting expensive. So, given the amount of repairs that would be needed, they took me through what it would take to replace the system and what savings I would see with installing a more efficient unit. They work with Austin Energy to apply for all the rebates available and work with their inspector. So, I got a spreadsheet estimating how much I would save and when the new system would have paid for itself. My estimate was at 4 years. I went for the new system. They steered me away from the system that has a brand name based price markup and towards one that have the same efficient components. They replaced the bad duct work, and measured the airflow at the ducts and the doors (there's a certain amount of fresh air necessary). They removed the old equipment and ducts. They also provide free yearly checkups for the systems they install and stopped by to see that it was tuned properly. So, almost three years later, I can say that my HVAC unit has been performing like a champ and my cooling bills have been much lower than what they were when I first moved in. My AC went out 2 days ago over the weekend. At first I called Strand Brothers but their rep spent the entire time trying to upsell me a new unit. I called Trent with Austin Green Team for a second opinion and was TOTALLY impressed. He added me to his schedule late in the day and promptly came out. He diagnosed my issue and saved me tons of money compared to what the other company was trying to charge. He was a total straight shooter and explained what was going on in easy-to-understand terms. Please notice that there is only one recent review. Austin Green Team was the 3rd business I chose for comparison. He showed up late (called to say they'd be 30 minutes late and showed up 20 minutes after that) and had no equipment, spent at maximum 5 minutes for my "energy audit" and immediately started telling me what the problems are with metal ducts (specifically mentioned "if they're crushed because someone steps on them"--I asked if they had been. He said, "No."). I asked why he brought it up then; and he replied he was just trying to "educate" me. The two men who had come out on the 2 preceding days had both remarked what good shape the duct work was in. (One measured each duct, took photos of them and thermal readings that he showed me and gave me specific leakage rates). The guy from Austin Green Team said it would only be about $450 out of pocket for me to replace the duct ($50 per register). This is before any conversation about any of my other needs. Next, he proceeded to tell me about needing to replace my hollow core door. All this before asking me a single question about my bills or the quality of air and heat I've experienced through the years. Jeesh!!! read more
