DON'T CHOOSE THIS SCHOOL. The tester in this location has HARASSED at least FOUR Asian ladies. I found this out by posting my experience in the Asian community. We all got treated awfully in the same way. FYI, I believe this white hair elderly guy is the only tester of this location. On my first test, he asked me "Where are you from" and then "Why are you HERE." I answered but he did not give any response. During the test, he kept making weird noises in his mouth the whole time, I couldn't understand but I could tell he was super vicious and definitely cursing something. Afterward, he failed me, and then walked to my mother-in-law instead to tell her "Your girl has no idea about the law here, go home and teach her more." And he asked me to come back two days later to take another test. On my second test, he kept touching my arms up and down, asking me where my husband was from; and how long I'd been married. I told him I had been married for two years. And he called me "You are an old lady now". Then he said it was a joke, I do not find this funny. I passed the second test, but how he touched my arms made me disgusted for days. I know he could probably get away with what I wrote above because he is old. He could say "Sorry I am too old to make people feel respected." "It was just some little jokes." But again, I did not see him touch the guys' arms. And other Asian ladies got touched, and one of them said she was cursed by this tester the whole testing process. I want to share my experience because I think no one deserves to be treated like this, I paid 85 dollars for the test, technically I am a customer. But seems like he enjoys abusing the power in his hand. read more

I can only comment regarding the driving test. The person that conducted the driving test is flat out incompetent and an idiot. How is if possible to deduct point after point for simple fact that the student taking the test drive ls absolutely correctly up to the speed limit that is 30 and 40 miles per hour. Unbelievable how stupid this person can be. She was also absolutely mad about whatever and she took it on the student. Since you are an incompetent l, let me remind you that is absolutely nothing wrong with respecting the posted speed limit. The student that took the test has far superior driving skills than anyone you taught how to drive. I am so glad we did not let the student learn how to drive with you. Absolutely nightmare. I used the Austin Driving School for my son to take his driver's test in early December of 2022. The backstory: he did his driver's education online with another provider, and we did parent taught driving lessons. But when we went to the DPS for his driver's test, we found out we had schedule the wrong type of appointment and had to wait over 3 months to get rescheduled. At this point, we decided to use Austin Driving School for him to take his test, which would expedite the process. Unfortunately, the week he had his driver's test scheduled, he tore a ligament in his knee and wasn't able to drive. I called to cancel and they told me it was no problem, and how to reschedule. When he was able to drive, I called back to reschedule, and we arrived for our appointment. However, we had forgotten two of our forms, and we showed up at the Anderson Mill location instead of the Anderson Lane location - apparently this happens often. The staff at the Anderson Mill location called the head office for us to switch our location, and even let us go back home for the missing form. They were busy, but they fit us in, when they could've easily asked us to reschedule. I found them helpful and kind on a busy, full day, and am so glad we went this route rather than wait for an appointment through the DPS. read more

OMG - what a disaster this place is - how are they even still in business. Wish I had read these reviews prior to signing up. It took over a week to get anyone to pick up the phone to even get signed up. Should have been a major red flag when the person on the phone was HORRIBLY RUDE. Then I was told I had to sign up in person and that someone may or may not be there to do it during business hours. We got "lucky" and someone was there. Signed up on Saturday was told we'd get a call on Monday to schedule. Didn't happen. Called 9 times and emailed and finally got a call back a week and a half later - again saying someone would call to schedule. No one called. I'm giving it a few more days then I'm disputing with my credit card company. Their website says they will pick up on high school - this is not true and they blame covid - well covid restrictions are over. At this rate, my kids will probably be able to get their driving in before they turn 25?? read more

This place is unbelievable!! Total scam artists who STEAL your money and provide nothing for it!! I cannot believe how they are able to be in business. My daughter has had her permit for 6 months already and all we really needed were the official driving classes so she can get her license. However, we cannot get a lesson scheduled at all! She had ONE lesson in 3 months!! This is ridiculous!!! I am livid because we wasted money on this place and are stuck with this waiting game. Monique is unprofessional and useless. She forgets everything and never returns any calls. My husband and I have even called the corporate office and they basically told us "tough sh*t". I've never received a call back or any indication that my daughter's next class is coming up. I wish I would have seen these reviews before signing up. Very unprofessional and rude receptionist! It's almost impossible to schedule anything. The lady has a "list" of people in need of driving appointments. When i attended the in-person classes, i heard her Complain about the backup, but she would still take breaks to go smoke!!? What?? We paid for ALL services this March, and it is OCTOBER! We have NEVER received a call back. I spam called today, and had to call their MAIN OFFICE TO ACTUALLY GET AN ANSWER?? When I was put on, the receptionist was very rude, and was complaining at me about me calling so much while she was dealing with A SINGULAR customer. Zero stars would be more appropriate. My son has had his permit for 15 months. We have been trying for fifteen months to get his driving hours so that he can actually get his license. They chronically have a shortage of drivers and refuse to schedule hours. They just put students on the cancellation list and tell you they'll call if someone cancels. Nobody ever cancels though. In essence, it's perilously close to fraud--taking students for while you know you have no driving instructor who can provide them with behind-the-wheel training. I expect that their license to operate will be revoked shortly. In the interim, though, don't make the mistake I made. I'm going to have to take my son elsewhere and pay the relevant fees in order for him to actually get his license. read more

This place is an absolute SCAM - do not spend your money here, you will NEVER get any drive time. It's impossible to reach them, then when you do, they say they will put you on a list behind 100 other people and they will call you when they can schedule you. No online scheduling, no one calls you back, only open a couple hours a day and the phone just rings and rings. Four years ago, my daughter used ADS - Anderson Mill for her behind-the-wheel instruction. The experience seemed pretty typical of what we had learned to expect from a driving school. It wasn't a perfect program but it served its purpose. So when it came to finding a school for my son in January, we chose ADS because it was convenient to where we live. My son did the classroom instruction portion of the drivers ed program online, through DriversEd.com [terrible experience], because of his sports schedule. When it came to transfer documentation of his online coursework, DriversEd.com hosed us and refused to send docs to any program in the North Austin area. Instead they tried to force us to take the behind-the-wheel portion at one of their schools -- all in South Austin -- at a much higher cost. The ol' bait-and-switcheroo. I contacted ADS and asked what I should do. Dawn, the owner of ADS, personally intervened on our behalf. First she called DriversEd.com and tried to persuade them to comply. When they refused, she filed our grievance with the Texas Education Agency. TEA then contacted them forced them to comply. None of this would have happened if Dawn hadn't gone to bat for us.. She did so in a friendly, attentive and professional way. I can't thank her enough. read more

This review is for the Burnet location. The classroom aspect was fine. As far as driving time, we were able to get some sessions during Thanksgiving week. Other than that, everytime I called they said they were booked and couldn't schedule my daughter for her drive time (which we paid for in advance). In an entire year, we never got the drivetime hours promised in our contract. As of May 2017 they wouldn't even schedule months in advance (as other parents suggested) because they didn't have a consistent supply of driving instructors. read more

Disastrous management and ridiculously outdated process of scheduling classes. Classroom portion was ok, but scheduling driving classes was extremely frustrating. Students can only schedule one class per week and they have to call on Mondays to make appointments (2 weeks in advance!). Two of my son's classes were cancelled with almost no notice and because the schedule was already full, he had to wait three weeks to get another slot. It took my son 10 weeks to get his 7 required driving lessons. They also failed to let us know how to schedule the driving lessons with DPS. My first two children used Sears driving school and it was light years ahead Austin driving school in terms of just about every aspect of the process. 0 isn't an option. We used the Burnet 'school', but I couldn't find that location on Yelp. I guess they sort of have a monopoly on teen drivers, but this is ridiculous. It's taken over 6 months to get our 7, extremely expensive, drives in. We can only get a drive time every 3 weeks, and sometimes it's even longer than that. They either need more staff, better organization or to take on fewer students at a time. If you find an alternative, take it -- unless you have lots of time and energy to devote to this. Also, according to my son, they don't really drive for the whole time they're there.. A lot of time is spent waiting to start and they often end early. They're pleasant enough on the phone, but that's not enough. They also have to get kids finished in a timely manner. read more

The lady that answered told me she lose my driving file and that she didn't have time to look for it because she had so much work too. I told her I understand you have a lot of work to do but I need you to look for it. She said excuse me but you don't need to talk to me that way! Heads up if you sign up for these classes... the school chooses to only offer the "classroom only" portion of their classes in a BLOCK FORMAT. which means they wont give you the initial 6 hour certificate for your child to go get their permit until after they've completed the entire classroom hours of 32. They want you to pay more for the driving portion to get that, and you can see from the reviews here thats a very bad idea. We only wanted the classroom to be done and you can do it online for only $75 bucks with your child instead and get the initial cert at 6 hours so they can be driving with you while finishing their online course. The lady I spoke to the first time did not tell me this until AFTER she had just run my card over the phone for the full $230 class fee. I immediately said I would cancel and get a refund then and just do it online instead, she said fine. This was friday 1/26 - the charge settled anyways on monday 1/29 - I called and talked to the same woman at 512.280.4499 and she said she would refund my card but that they can take their sweet time and do it within 30 days but she would TRY to do it immediately. Soooo you could have just cancelled the transaction on the phone in the first place and not settled/closed out the transaction but chose to anyways and now you can't be bothered to run the card easily and refund it now? yah right. I know how card transactions work sweetheart, and you should not have closed it out and settled it to begin with. So anyways, I try several times on this call to offer my card number to do the refund and she doesn't want to take it, she insists they have it on file and will take care of it. After that call I did some research and saw all the hundreds of bad reviews for them under each of their locations and I'm not at all confident anything will happen based ont he way she spoke to me. So here we are another week later, no refund, and now I've filed a dispute with my card bank directly. I also called the same number again today, got a different person Michelle who tells me guess what, they do NOT store card info ever and I shouldn't have been told that.. yah I kinda figured that already by the way my 2 calls with the first lady went, which is why I recorded ALL OF MY PHONE CALLS to you all and advised my bank I have these as documentation of my requested reversal. Michelle took my card info today and assures me it will be refunded and it *should* be in full... yah you better believe it will be in full. but again repeated this, "it might be 30 days" crap. I don't agree to that Austin Driving school, you provided me nothing and charged me for nothing. I told you immediately I would not buy services from you due to your block only policy. I am leaving the reversal and dispute in place with my bank. If they process it before you all 'get around to it' then you can eat the chargeback fee from your merchant. If you do the right thing and actually refund my card, I will cancel my dispute and update here accordingly. A note to the company, one bad employee can ruin your reputation, be better at hiring/training because that first lady will lose you business for sure. TO UPDATE: as promised, I did finally receive the refund and cancelled the charge back with my bank. Worst experience I can imagine. I was given incorrect information over the phone, was told (and paid) the wrong amount, and now I can't get any driving appointments. I was told, "Everyone makes mistakes." This is true, but good businesses make it right. The mistakes ADS made has caused my daughter to not be able to start driving practice for over a month (and counting). I am still currently waiting to get an appointment. The secretary said she would call me when appointments open. This did not happen. I was told to call at 9AM. They are closed. I called and left messages. No response. How do they not know the driving schedule for the next week? Poorly run business at best, but they know they have zero competition and don't seem to care. I have paid hundreds of dollars and still NO driving lessons. NEVER AGAIN. I will drive across town for my next child to take lessons elsewhere. I can't comment on the instructors. read more

My experience at this driving school has been relatively positive. The class portion of the curriculum smelled like dead critters, and I learned just as much about the instructor's life story as I did about driving. Nevertheless, they got the numbers that I needed into my head. The driving portion was a bit better. Initially, it was impossible to schedule drive-times because they were so booked. There was a period of time that no one answered the phones simply because there was no secretary at the school. They are so understaffed and disorganized that it takes 6 week between driving lessons so you will need to plan 9 months to get the 7 drives done. There is no scheduling process other than you calling every day to see if someone canceled or the woman running the center will call you with one opening and if you don't take it you go back into the 6 week rotation. WTF?? But that my son should be getting a call soon. Anyways a week later that same young girl (like19 years old) called and said they had a cancellation and did we want it? So of course we took it since we had already waited two months for an appt. My son left work early for his appt. And what happens? Nobody shows up. THE DRIVING INSTRUCTOR DID NOT SHOW UP!! I am not bullshitting you they did not show up. Now I'm absolutely livid with this shitty hell of a place. This is the most unorganized un professional shit hole of a driving school. Tomorrow I will call corporate and report this hell hole. I do NOT recommend this place to ANYONE. The people here are total and complete utter morons. Our second child is currently learning to drive with Austin Driving School in Cedar Park. We have had an excellent experience with this business.Getting a drive time is hassle free and we have also been called by the school to schedule times. Our first child went to Longhorn Driving School in Cedar Park and we had a less than wonderful experience. Getting a drive time was incredibly difficult and when we failed to get the hours we were told that we were out of luck. I am very, very happy with our experience so far at Austin Driving School. If we complete with no problems I will change this review from 4 stars to 5 stars. read more

This is the worst customer service experience I've received from a business in years. Highly disorganized, all scheduling is run through the front desk so there is no way to schedule online. Schedule is always booked and we learned we needed to register two months before our son's fifteenth birthday, then he could only drive one day per week. The customer service for parents is rude, slow and ineffective. The receptionist refused to help me after 30 min of waiting and told me she was too busy to find my son's paperwork when I was the only person in the office. She demonstrated erratic behavior and I am not sure she is suited to work with teens. Also, the staff tries to make money off the kids by selling bulk snacks from Costco. On a positive note, my son is now a safe driver...I guess that was worth the annoyance? My advice is they raise prices so supply meets demand and they can hire more staff. I would pay a competitor more to not have to work with them when it is time for our second son to drive. read more

We enrolled our daughter in the Cedar Park location and the classroom portion went well, but once we got to the drive times it's been an absolute disaster. They've cancelled 3 out of 4 drive times at the last minute and then said they couldn't reschedule each of them before an additional 3 weeks. The office administrator admitted there simply aren't enough drivers and that it's been that way forever. If you have any sense at all you WILL NOT USE this company. I have had the same experience as the other 1 star ratings. The office staff tries but are horribly understaffed. I am so sorry I spent the money on this driving school because I do not know that my son will ever be put on the schedule for the driving times required to get his license. Poor thing.. he just says he hopes he can get the 7 lessons sometime in the 12 months. Really?! Austin Driving School is a great school. Yes it takes the students awhile to finish drives, however, DPS requires that the students ages 16&17 to hold their permits for 6 months. This is their Graduated Licensing program. ADS just adheres to that policy of not pushing the students through just to get them done. If we push the students through one drive right after another, the students are likely not to remember anything that they've been taught. ADS teaches them everything they need to know to pass the test. Why push them faster than they are ready for just to fail the test at the end? 15 year olds have to hold their permit until they are 16. That's DPS rules. read more

Can not recommend this business at all. My kid signed up on the website, and registered through their website for the online course (instead of in-classroom). This link (and I've verified the behavior) takes you directly into the signup for the parent taught driver education, though that is not obvious. We paid for the class, my kid finished it, and now everyone is saying that I have no option for the in-car lessons other than paying for another class, and having my kid spend another 32 hours at the computer. So they are apparently getting no further money from us. read more
