I've been seeing Dr. Jaros and Bailey at Austin Dental Works for about 1.5 years now, and I recommend this office to everyone I can! The office staff is friendly and welcoming, and they do their best to work with you. They are upfront about pricing and always tell me what my co-pay/total bill will be prior to any services, making every visit a smooth process. Also, it is easy to schedule appointments. I typically do so over the phone, but this last visit, I scheduled the appointment using the online form and was quickly contacted regarding availability. I also appreciate how they run on-time. I always arrive around 10 minutes before my appointment, and I have always been taken back at the exact time of my appointment. Cleanings take roughly 40 min, then Dr. Jaros comes in the check everything out, and I'm typically back in my car and driving home within 45 min of my appointment starting. BONUS: they offer free teeth whitening for patients with every cleaning! This is the main reason why I started coming to ADW in the first place. read more

I couldn't be more pleased. Due to a non-dental medical issue, I had only a short time window to get a meaningful amount of dental work in. They got me in very quickly for an assessment, and had two treatment appointments lined up within the week. I was beyond overdue for a deep cleaning - the hygienist (whose name I feel terrible for forgetting) couldn't have been more pleasant and supportive, and wasn't the least bit judgmental (despite the mess she was dealing with). Dr. Jaros also did a couple of fillings that were quick and painless. The staff is great, and I even got a text to get started early (which means less anxious waiting for me!) They are great about telling you what is happening during procedures, and were constantly checking to make sure I was doing ok. I had lost the love for ADW (several years back) when the previous dentist was there, but Dr. Jaros and crew are night and day better, and glad I went back. read more

I haven't been back here since they switched management and then covid happened; I switched dentists and have kept up with bi-annual cleaning . I decided to go back here this time since it is closer to me. The experience was ok. Josh, my dental hygienist was accommodating and making sure my mouth felt clean. I however felt that the cleaning was rough, the roughest I have had in which I felt my gum was poked to the point of pain. I am not sure if one of my teeth was chipped due to it. I came in with one known chip, leaving with 2. My procedure and cleaning were covered by my insurance but then I had to pay some 'disinfection fee' which I think was the new fee because of the pandemic. I however was surprised because the other dentist I was seeing prior would never charge me such fee even though they followed safety and disinfection procedures (even had disinfectant air circulators). I wish that information was disclosed beforehand. I'm not sure if I made a good choice going back here. read more

i have never had such a bad experience at a dentist's office. it took at least 6 trips for one easy process, a crown, and not once did the dentist apologize for all she had done and how much of my time was wasted. i've had this process and others done before, in my last city, and every time the process was quick and smooth. this was horribly done and extremely unacceptable and i paid a lot for it. i also thought it was so strange that when the appointment was complete, they wanted me to wait to walk out and check out. i usually just head out, if someone else is checking out, i patiently wait. i do NOT recommend !!! read more

While visiting Austin I believed that I had cracked one of my front teeth and was referred to this practice by a friend. So relaxing to sit back in the chair while Dr. Jaros chats calmly, gives the occasional feedback about what she's doing to my teeth, and plays music in the background. She's excellent at giving injections, never mentions when I haven't waxed my chin, and gives great detail about her treatment. I've already had 2 crowns put in and 2 more to go. I've been going to Austin Dental Works for many years. I've never had a bad experience. If there were any hangups, they've always made it right. I recently went in for a regular cleaning and also had some pain in a molar. They immediately knew the likely issue, a filling causing cracking in the tooth. I needed to work out some details before getting a crown put on. Once I was ready I called to schedule the procedure. They had a last minute cancelation. I got the temporary crown the next day. In the end, they had to administer 3 doses of lidocaine because the first two weren't enough. They were very sensitive to my pain levels. They are so professional and kind. Unless I move to another city, I don't plan to switch clinics. 5 stars! read more

Going to the dentist sucks. Everybody knows it. It's embarrassing to be on your back having people messing around in your mouth and having questions asked that you can't answer because there's a hand in your teeth. So Austin Dental Works does two things to make the experience better: 1) they're mega, hella, uber fast. As in: attendant preps you, Dr. Hap cleans you, the prognosis and bill are in your hand, 30 minutes to the door; 2) they provide swivel-mounted TV's in the exam rooms that adjust to your level of incline, so you can just zone out and watch Friends reruns until they're done. I can't believe that no one thought of this decades earlier. Beyond that, Dr. Hap is super nice, the staff are competent and efficient, and I don't feel like I'm being aggressively upsold. If I say I don't want the fluoride rinse (not covered by my insurance), they say "fine," and that's that. I leave there thinking, "If only all dentist visits ever could be like that." This is not to say that I'm taking it up as a hobby or want more of them than two per year, but when someone can take something with negative associations and make it a ton more bearable, they're making the world a little more pleasant. Originally started coming here 5 years ago upon recommendation from my dentist back in Houston. It's since changed ownership, but the new business is just as wonderful. Each person I've come in contact with is very positive, professional & really listens to the questions or concerns you have. I've had two good cleanings here and they did a good job filling a few cavities I had. However I came in for another cleaning 6 months later and they really pushed that I needed to get x-rays every single year. This seemed odd to me and like nothing I'd encountered before at a dentist's office. I'm paying out of pocket, not with insurance, so I questioned the need for x-rays that frequently. I went on my phone in the office to look up what's actually necessary, and confirmed that even with teeth that have had recent cavities you don't necessarily need routine x-rays more than once every 2-3 years. I didn't appreciate their pushy attitude, trying to patronize me for questioning them. The receptionist, dental hygienist, and dentist all came up to the desk and tried to lecture me. Now I'm wondering if all of those fillings they sold me at my last visit were actually necessary or if their business model is pushing unnecessary dental work on people. I've mostly had my dental work done at University dental offices and was never told I needed a cavity filled until visiting this office. Fine if you have insurance but I've always paid with my own money because I never needed so spend much on dental work when I wasn't being sold unnecessary procedures and x-rays. If you have your own insurance and you don't mind possibly unnecessary holes in your teeth, this place gives good cleanings and is good at making you feel confident in their judgment. However I just looked at some other reviews on Yelp and found a dentist who's known for being conservative and not pushing unnecessary dental work - that's who I'll be trying as my next dentist. read more

I've been in Austin a few years, and I finally found a Dentist I enjoy going to. Most dentists just go to work on my mouth and I'm in and out. Not only did Dr. Jaros and her staff are amazing. Very thoughtful, very professional, and very helpful. The actual office is great, very comfortable. The staff helped me with my insurance questions, and got me taken care of right away. Tiffanie at the front desk was consistently checking in, and was incredibly helpful in scheduling new appointments around my work day. While the staff is all quite friendly, I was highly overtreated and received different information for my dental plan on each of my three visits..with costs rising each time. I had not had a cleaning in a few years and I think I was taken advantage of. Needless to say, I only had one appointment and will not be returning. I have found a new dentist since then. I went to Dr. Hap yesterday for a new patient exam and cleaning. His office was spotless and beautiful; with state-of-the-art digital technology. The patient records are all digital, keeping my personal data secure, and saving on wasted paper. I had a couple of teeth that were chipped, and Dr. Hap was able to fix them right then and there on the spot. I live in Austin, Texas. I went there like it at first. I came there to get a crown on one of my top tooth's. I had to have the chipped tooth replaced with a crown it wasn't any fun but I got through it. And I had to get used to the feel of the new crown in my mouth. My insurance was good. But after a month's time they referred me out to some other dentist office. I might say that i did find their procedure weren't fun but I sat through them. After getting the crown replaced they referred me out saying that they couldn't work with me. And yet they were able to get the dental crown work done. I think they drop me because I was nervous They claim that they couldn't work with me and yet they got the crown work done. . Crazy thing was after telling me to find another dentist they by mistake sent me a email saying I needed to come back. I have no intention of playing there on and off game. read more

Dr. Hap gets 5 stars, and the front desk/reservations get's one star. I recently moved and wanted to try a dentist closer to my new abode. I really enjoyed Dr. Hap and eagerly signed up for another checkup at the conclusion of my service. Fast forward 5.5 months and I get a call that the office is closed on Friday and if I can reschedule. HMMMM I think, why would you schedule my follow-up on a day you are closed. I then reschedule the appointment for a month out. I'm a bit bummed out by this time because well I love going to the dentist (hey we all gotta have hobbies). Time passes and I show up for my appointment and the front desk says that I'm an hour early and if I can come back in an hour. Uhmmm no - I'm pretty sure that I can tell time and love or no love of the dentist I would not show up an hour early. Since Dr. Hap was already with a patient I had no other choice, so I did what I had to to do. I bid adieu to Dr. Hap, the convenient location and modern office. I have since found another dentist close to my new place, but I really wish that the front desk had it more together because I liked the technical aspects of Dr. Hap, but it was the service that has me longer willing to go back again. read more

I move around a lot. As such, I have been to five different dentists in the past four years. It's amazing how much the the quality of the care you receive can vary from office to office. I made an appointment with Hap based off of the positive yelp reviews, and the fact that they take my insurance here. I had a shamefully large number of cavities that had to be taken care of (a consensus, among all the dentists I had visited), and I was very grateful for how flexible and understanding they were in helping schedule my rushed appointments within the few weeks I was spending in Austin. Hap is a young hip dentist, who really takes the time to educate you on what's going on in your mouth and include you in the decision-making process. They use very up-to-date technology, the analgesic they use to numb your mouth is pina colada flavored, and I even got to watch Glee and Dirty Dancing while I was getting my mouth drilled. I can't say that getting your teeth drilled is ever a pleasant experience, but that was probably as close as it can get. His staff are incredibly sweet/cool people, who stay on top of their work: I never had to remind any of them that I'm allergic to latex, compared to other dentist's offices where people repeatedly try to shove latex-hands in my mouth. With all the high-tech gear/etc and my experience with money-grubbing-dentists, I was expecting the cost to be much higher. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised by how affordable my entire treatment was. I'm a starving college student, so every penny counts, and this is one of the few times I have left a dentists' office and not felt like I had just been taken advantage of. I feel like they even sympathized with my pathetic degree of tuition-induced poverty, so even threw in the prescription toothpaste I needed for free (usually $20), just because they wanted to make sure my teeth were well taken care of. Excellent dental office - I would highly recommend Hap and his staff to any and all. ------ UPDATE: Went to another dental office up here in CA where I am now semi-permanently relocated, and the new dentist complimented Hap's work on my mess of a mouth: "Why are you even here? I went here after a major accident on my bicycle, which forced me to get full cosmetic work on my front teeth; Dr. Hap and his team at Austin Dental Works were great! It was a year long journey in order to get everything looking normal again and in fact it was better than normal because Dr. Hap was able to fix some of my natural alignment issues. I don't know what the standard costs for dental works are, but they were knowledgeable in working with my health insurance and giving me payments options. He also provided a time frame for all procedures. Little by little he was able to fix a lot of things that braces didn't when I had worn it in my younger years. They also don't shuffle you from room to room for pictures and X-rays like most places. The facility is clean and they use the latest dental technology. The only negative thing I would say is that he's not very personable, but when you have to look "down in the mouth" all day, who would be?!? read more

I have been to see Hap the Dentist now a couple of times. Really impressed with the level of service I received. The difference between this Dentist and others was that I felt I was getting a full education about my teeth, Previous Dentists had always just worked on me but not truly explained why or given me the complete scenario of care I needed. So for me the difference was the level of detail and time Hap is prepared to take to give you the options to improve your Dental health. He is also very friendly and personable. I LOVE this dentist. I actually moved to Dallas but still drive to Austin to have him clean my teeth. I have never had a dentist take the care he takes in cleaning the teeth. I had some minor staining from drinking tea which is COMPLETELY gone after the cleaning. I have had multiple people comment on how great my teeth look. The office is clean, contemporary and has wonderful perks like you can watch 30 Rock while getting your teeth cleaned. Also, for someone without dental insurance, the cleanings are not too expensive. I really hate going to the dentist so I was pleasantly suprised when I had such a great experience at Austin Dental Works for my recent dental exam. In addition to taking all the necessary precautions for COVID, everyone I interacted with went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and relaxed. I got to watch my favorite netflix show while I waited to have my xrays done, then the dentist came in and took her time to clearly and patiently explain the results of the exam with me. I have had bad experiences in the past of feeling judged by dentists I've gone to see - this was not the case at Austin Dental Works. I'm so glad I found them! read more

Dr. Hap Nguyen is the best! What happened to my other yelp account? Seriously ADW was the first business I believe I ever yelped about. Anyways, Dr. Hap and his staff are the friendliest group I could ever imagine interacting with in a dental setting. Lobby was never overcrowded, seating area was very comfortable and follow-up calls were made after my visit. I was in a real bind as my lower teeth retainer became heavily tainted with calcium-like deposits. Dr. Hap was able to resolve my issue in a painless and comforting way. He checked on the status of my wisdom teeth via X-ray and made sure to ask if I was in any pain. Now that I've moved back to Austin I will be seeing him regularly again and would recommend him to friends. read more
