I told her it was good but then got home and was so jagged and pieces were still long. I was shocked after seeing so many reviews raving about her - especially if you have thick hair. Maybe it's because a lot of the people reviewing have dark hair? Not sure but will be going to a different salon to have it corrected. I guess this is a warning for people with lighter hair. She balayaged the ends and added beautiful, detailed highlights on top, and the color turned out even better than I imagined. What really stood out, though, was how much she truly listened. I never felt rushed or like I was getting a "one-size-fits-all" style. She made me feel seen, understood, and genuinely beautiful--something I haven't felt in a long time. Seana made the whole experience feel warm, comfortable, and even a little magical. I walked out of the salon not just with amazing hair, but with a whole new sense of confidence. They recommend coming back every 6 months for touch-ups but I managed to come back after 8, even though my hair definitely was in need of a trim at that point! Tammy and co. are super professional and attentive to all details of the straightening process. The process itself is long (~4 hours) but they help make the time go by with their efficiency! I was also able to get complimentary coffee, water, and chocolate throughout my session to stay awake. After my session, I was gifted with a holiday cup with treats! Highly recommend Detammy if you are looking for a reputable place for Japanese hair straightening in Austin.

I messaged Holly because I couldn't make 8/31 and she told me she would cancel my appointment and to let her know if I needed to reschedule. Fast forward to 9/6, I was charged $85 for not cancelling the 9/5 appointment. This is the appointment I rescheduled through the Style Seat application. I messaged Holly and she pretty much told me too bad, I'm still taking your money! She claimed I didn't cancel the 9/5 appointment. Which I did. BUT if I didn't, common sense would be, when I messaged her to cancel 8/31...and she saw that prior to booking that appointment, I booked the 9/5 one, she would have reached out because it's most likely an error. But she "is not a mind reader."

So I was excited when she invited me today! And now I am hooked. When we arrived the reception area was a little busy but I was greeted within a few minutes and the receptionist were super friendly. I waited about 12 minutes for my stylist to come get me from the waiting area. We started off with my hair being brushed and then we went to the washing bay where my stylist washed my hair and massaged my scalp. It felt so good!!! You can do an add-on, 15-minute massage, but you need to book that when you make the reservation. When she was done washing we went to the dry bar area and my stylist brought me a water and a small glass of champagne Your stylist will then style your hair based on the signature style you most like. I came in with my hair styled probably the best I've ever done, I've been working for years to find the right routine for me and my hair type, and I put my hair in the trust of this place. As soon as I sat down and explained what I wanted, my hair was wet and combed out then cut like any other normal haircut. No special treatment was given to my curls. After that some gel was slapped in until I felt like I had a slug on my head and I was stuck under a dryer. From what I could tell, an average hair dresser was given a quick class in the basic curly method, just to toss it out the window. I am so upset with how different it looks from anything I asked. I got WAY more hair cut off than I wanted and now I look like a squire from medieval times rather than the cute, simple, girly cut I asked for. Be careful people.
