So I buy Aurora's chorizo every year for my family's pototo and chorizo taco tradition on Christmas morning. I used to go to the one in Santa Ana and was sooo happy when they opened this location. Aurora's is seriously the BEST chorizo around - I have tried a few others and nope, not even close. They are also so nice and always beyond helpful. Wow...I am so glad my bf found this gem of a place by accident. If you're looking to buy chorizo to bring home, this is the place. Not only the chorizo taste amazing, but the owner is such an awesome person who you can have a great conversation with. Before purchasing anything, you're able to try the different chorizo he has to offer and the cheese as well. Also, can't forget their own salsa to sample. We end up getting the medium spice chorizo because my bf can't handle spicy like I can and also got the Verde chorizo. Literally the sample had us coming back from the pumpkin patch in Irvine to make sure we buy some to bring home. Not only because we bought it for the taste, it is because the owner is so kind. Went to the store in Santa Ana on Main street. Bought just one link of the semi-spicy chorizo to try it. It was great...not only the flavor, but also the texture was great. Great mouth feel. I cooked it with the casing on, in a frying pan on top of my stove starting with a little water and then kept cooking after the water evaporated. I cooked it too much, probably, but did want it well done...being pork and all. I'll be buying more. Going to try the mild and maybe the very spicey versions next. BTW these areOTHING like the kind you buy wrapped in plastic in WalMart or other stores. Those are much more "liquid" and almost like spicy gravy. They have their place, but hese are real sausages. read more

I don't know how this place got 5 stars... there's no one cooking at this place and the tamales that they do sell are just stored in a regular Rubbermaid container. They only had elote tamales and the masa was too thick and tasted nothing like sweet corn. The woman behind the counter doesn't speak a word of English. I would not recommend this place. read more

You want real chorizo? You have to go to Aurora's! Seriously so blessed and happy to have both locations about 12 minutes from my house. When I was younger I unfortunately had to stop eating regular super greasy store bought chorizo cause my Tummy didn't like it. Fast forward to 2 years ago when through word of mouth was introduced to Aurora's Chorizo, it's amazing, you can tell they use quality meat and the oil is minimal. Which makes my tummy happy! They have pork, chicken and vegetarian chorizo to choose from, with different heat levels. The shop has salsas, cheeses, and other yummy stuff. I'm so glad that the main star is their chorizo, it's excellent. Everyone there at both stores are helpful and really friendly people, and they're always happy to answer any questions. BEST CHORIZO and SALSA ROJA IN TOWN! I love to try little holes in the wall and this one by far the BEST. It's so good my Pops (super picky Mexican man) request we only get the chorizo from here and the red salsa! The RED SALSA is so SPICY and tasteful that even though you might cry you cant stop enjoying it,lol. They were super friendly and accommodating! I ordered the chorizo picoso (spicy). To avoid plastic/polystyrene waste, I requested that they use butcher paper to wrap the sausage without a plastic bag. They were happy to oblige and they gave me complimentary handmade flour tortillas. I reheated the tortillas with some melted butter and I cooked the chorizo with eggs the minute I got home. Perfect flavor and texture!!!!! We are definitely going back for more. Fueron super amables y serviciales. Pedí el chorizo picoso. Para evitar la basura de plástico / poliestireno, les pedí que usaran papel de estraza para envolver la salchicha sin una bolsa de plástico. I really can't be more complimentary about this chorizo place. The owner is on site. She is very friendly, enthusiastic about the quality and process of making the chorizo, happy to tell you about what would be good and good for you. I have had the green chorizo, mild and spicy red, chicken chorizo and soyrizo at different times myself or as things to share with friends. The soyrizo and green were good enough to make converts of people that were chorizo skeptics. And they do have more than chorizo - Aurora's sells traditional beef jerky, honey, excellent mole pastes (mole poblano and oaxaqueno were especially good). Also brings in odds and ends from Mexico from time to time. All said, a local place with a friendly owner who is passionate about her products and those products are Class A. Parking can be a little tight in the parking lot right off Chapman. Don't be discouraged - there is parking in the back. read more

We love this Chorizo so much we refuse to have another brand or from other places. I have noticed the sign for Aurora's Chorizo whenever I get donuts at DK's. I stopped in the other day and am glad I did. I picked up 2lbs of the mild pork chorizo and one rope of the chorizo verde. Both were great! They use real meat, not a bunch of glands and throw away parts like the store bought stuff in a tube. The flavor on the mild chorizo was great, not spicy at all, but super flavorful. It went great with my morning eggs and potatoes. The chorizo verde was super flavorful. Threw that bad boy over the grill and made tacos... Bomb! read more
