This is a pretty nice pizza restaurant in downtown Lagrange. The atmosphere is nice. It is near the railroad tracks, so there is a lot of railroad decor and photos. The restaurant itself is very clean and nicely set up. There is a small area for outside seating as well if that does anything for you. The staff was very friendly although we had one issue where some of our food was given to another table. Mistakes happen, so I wouldn't hold it against them. The food is pretty good. The pizza is tasty. The thin crust is all I have ever had and they do a great job with it. The ingredients are fresh. It is certainly not the best pizza in Chicago, but it is still pretty good. Besides pizza, they offer a myriad of other options like salads, pastas, and sandwiches. Price is very comparable to other pizza restaurants in the Chicagoland area. Large pizza is about $20-25. The location and the food make this place worthy of my time/money. I enjoy it and would recommend it. read more

I nominate Aurelio's LaGrange for the best pizza in the village. Not that I've tried them ALL yet, but it's my #1 to date. We just dined there for the first time 2 days ago (we're fairly new in the neighborhood), and here's why the pizza gets my top billing: -- Buttery, crispy crust -- Served on a grate pan, keeping the crust raised for extra crispiness -- More than mozzarella -- the cheese layer has a pungent, very flavorful taste, which I assume comes from multiple cheeses -- Sweet, delicious sauce and just the right amount of it -- Good sausage, with the amount providing a tasty balance with other ingredients Price is a bit higher than some other local pizzerias, but I'd say it's worth it when you're out (or carrying out) for a special Italian treat. The dining atmosphere was quaint and attractive -- subdued lighting, deep green and red colors, dark wood booths and tables, a little neon peeking in from the small, separate bar area. Nice, clean and comfortable! Wait staff was very attentive but not overbearing. I wish there was a 4-1/2 star option since I don't like to rate anything "perfect," but I didn't want to take a star away from Aurelio's LaGrange, because we really enjoyed it. Good pizza considering its a chain. Mine was salty, but I am from Chicago and prefer a different taste. May have been salty cheese. Good service!! Good atmosphere for the kids and very clean. As a musician, in the world of rock and hip hop, there is a debate over which pizzeria has the best pizza: Aurelio's or Pizza Shack, across from Britney Spears's high school in Louisiana. This debate emerged with the decline of thin crust pizza in New York and Aurelio's holding up the tradition. I have never had Pizza Shack even though Brit and Jamie say it's the best but I am gonna guess it would be hard to seat me away from my favorite pizza I rhe world. I can say, having lived in New York City. There is no such thing as real thin crust there anymore. I grew up near the original Homewood location and later, my father moved to Park Forest so we would order delivery, this location seems more expensive than the other locations. People say that the difference is In the sauce but I would contend it is in the way the cheese is melted. Aurelio's is also one of three pizza places in the United States which still uses semolina flour, lending to the crispness of the crust. The other two are SIzzle Pie and Fultono's in Oregon, both in my top ten but not anywhere near as delicious as this South Side favorite. One of the best things about this legendary place is the vegetarian pizzas are just as flavorful as those with meat. Spinach and mushroom is my stalwart. Just wish the prices were cheaper at this location. read more

I had to be convinced to try Aurelio's sausage thin-crust pizza. I normally hate sausage. I took a bite and it was sheer heaven. The crust was thin and crunchy, and seems to be infused with cheese. The toppings are generous, and the sausage was tasty, not laden with fat and gristle. Now that I've eaten at Aurelio's at least ten times (and have probably gained a comparable number of pounds), I can say that the pizza is consistently great. The service is always fast and friendly. Mr. Aurelio takes good care of his customers here. Nice beer and wine list. The place is kid-friendly, which doesn't make it the best date-night place, but as a parent, I appreciate how kind the staff is to the little ones. There is an arcade in the back, full of new and vintage games. Finally, Aurelio's has a frequent-diner club, as well as 1/2-price bottles of wine Monday nights. A lot of people love Aurelio's, sorry, I'm not one of them. Nothing negative, I just don't think it's all that great. Ordered a thin crust pizza with sausage and mushrooms. The pizza came pretty quickly. I just found the pizza a bit too greasy and the sauce was just too sweet, almost like barbeque sauce without the hickory smoke flavor. It was much better the next morning though, made for a great breakfast cold pizza. Restaurant itself is pretty nice though. Nice little bar area where you can swill beer and people watch. I would definitly come here to have a few drinks. But the pizza itself wouldn't be a draw. read more

I can't review the thin crust since we always get the deep dish when we stop at Aurelio's. They have a great beer list and a nice variety of salads. My only complaint is the prices. A deep dish with a couple toppings can cost you over $40 which is a little rough. Also, like some other reviewers mentioned, the pizza can be a little salty. I have ordered pizza from Aurelio's twice in the past week. I run a program for students that required some celebratory, end-of-the-year meals. One meal included a student with a gluten allergy. The other required something for a kid with a dairy allergy. To top it all off, we're a tax exempt organization, so they had to deal with that, too. Aurelio's handled all of our wacky requests graciously and efficiently. Our pizza was ready on time, and it was DE-licious. I highly recommend this restaurant both for the quality of the food and the qualify of the service. You won't be disappointed! read more

I went to Aurelio's for lunch with a few colleagues today and was not impressed. It took about 10 minutes to get our drinks (water or diet), another 10 for our three salads, and another 50 minutes for three medium pizzas! It was taking so long we had them box it up and we ate back in the office. It'd be one thing if it was a Saturday night, but we were the only table in there. Grew up in Homewood and ate pizza from the original Aurelio's all the time and still head down there several times a year to indulge.The pizza at the LaGrange location simply is not the same although a good pizza. The cheese is not the same texture or quality. The crust isn't quite as crisp either. A step below. The antipasti salad is very good and service excellent. The bar however has quite limited options and lack of ability to make pretty standard drinks. The reason for the 3 stars is the price was over the moon. One large pizza was $28.00. 1 salad, pizza and beer/pedestrian glass of wine for 4 was $120 with the 20% tip. Seems awfully high for an after work pizza stop. read more

My husband and I were recently turned on to Aurelio's by our neighbors/friends and it has quickly replaced our other go to pizza place in the area! I can't believe we didn't know about it earlier! We LOVE their thin crust pizza. We have tried the thick crust pizza and it was eh - not for us. But their thin crust is amazing. I love the cheeses they use and love how the cheese is on the crust as well so this crispy crunchy goodness forms - so yummy. We almost always order for pick up and have yet to eat there. The pizza is always ready in a reasonable time, even on a busy Friday night. One time we got delivery and were impressed when the delivery driver called to let us know he was stuck by a train - something that can happen often by where we live. I'm from out of town and we visited Aurilio's on a recommendation. I the Super Six small (10") thin crust pizza. It was good and very flavorful. It has two meats and four veggies. The small is plenty enough for two people. I had it to myself and had plenty of left-overs for another meal. The service is not great, but it was adequate. I was there in the middle of the day with very few customers, but still received minimal attention. In all, Aurelio's is a good place if you're craving a thin crust. Aurelio's pizza is very good. Here's why they are getting a one star review from me. And I hate doing reviews on food joints that aren't really about the food. I don't want to damn a place because one of their waitresses had a bad day, or if customers dumped litter in their parking lot. That being said, I was in the area and ordered a large (15") sausage with extra sauce. For the first time in my life of pizzas, I was flabbergasted when I heard the price And I am not cheap by ANY means. Especially when it comes to good pizza. The total was $29 and some change. Let's call it $30. Now, when the order taker on the phone told me the total, I hesitated for a second, but figured he just misspoke. Maybe meant $19 instead of $29. I was set. I debated and picked Aurelio's and got my mind-taste buds ready for it. Didn't, or maybe COULDN'T back down. I picked it up and it was indeed $29. Okay. The thing is that I looked online for prices and could not find ANY. Not on their site, not on menu sites....no where. Had I had the prices, I may have ordered smaller, or not at all. $29 is not crazy for a huge pizza. I know of stuffed or deep dishes that can feed 4 burly men for the same price AND taste great. And my Aurelio's was a great tasting pizza. They are unique in a sea of blah. But the price is really really criminal . So, I am posting a scan of their menu. And if their management want to argue with me as to why they don't post prices on the site, I will happily defeat them in debate. BUT---you people must know. First and last time here. Waitress was very nice. Food same as other locations. Treated very rudely by a member of the kitchen staff when she cut in front of me in the bathroom. When she saw that I was still waiting when she was done became very snippy that it was my fault she cut in front of me because I should have stopped her when she was already in the stall. When I said to her what did she think I was doing In the small bathroom she said that I didn't need to be rude to her. No apology. Just deflection. Always have been a big Aurelio's fan but last few visits were less than expected. First was a pizza pick up order and when I got it home discovered pizza was way under cooked which was disappointing. I called back and spoke with Manager who did offer to remake the pizza but I did not want to wait or drive back there, so Manager did give me a $20 credit (On a $35 pizza). Next order (using my $20 credit) was also a pickup and pizza was undercooked again, despite asking for well done (forget calling back this time and just throw it in the oven on the pizza stone). Last straw was eat in and we ordered our pizza "extra thin", even repeated it twice to our server. Pizza came and Bingo! pizza was even thicker than the normal thin crust! Games in the kitchen or just incompetence? I don't know, but we mentioned to server that pizza was definitely NOT extra thin as ordered and she promptly said "well, that's just how they make them here" and walked away. The first time I went to Aurelio's in Lagrange it was great, the Food was outstanding and the server was great. My husband and I went on Satruday, April 6th and it was very dissappointing. The server never smiled and never checked on us, she did the bare minimum. We ordered the Fried Ravioli appetizer and it was so dry and over cooked, then I ordered the Chicken Parmesean Sandwich and the chicken was like rubber and had NO flavor, it was awful ! Great vegetarian options. Ordered the appetizer sampler which was delish for fried food. Onion rings were great and I'm not the biggest fan of onion rings. They took awhile on the ravioli so they gave us extra cheese sticks. There were lots of vegetarian options which made it difficult for my boyfriend to choose which is a good thing when in most restaurants there are only 2 to 3 options. I am not a big fan of thin crust pizza, but I love Aurelio's think crust. It's excellent!!! I'm not sure if the La Grange location does lunch buffet. If not check out the lunch buffet at the Aurelios in the southwest burbs: Frankfort, New Lennox, Joliet. It would get five stars, but the pizzas are a little pricey. read more

There are so many other better pizza options here in Chicago. And don't even bother with anything else on the menu. I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana tonight and honestly, I've had Lean Cuisine frozen dinners that have tasted better. The service has been ok but a bit pokey every time we've been there. This location is also incredibly noisy. Bottom line: if you're just looking for pizza and happen to be nearby, it's an ok spot. Aurelios is better than average pizza and at times is 5 star. My biggest complaint is their consistency. We order the same thing for delivery every 2 or 3 weeks. 1 in 4 chance it will be 5 star. Tonight was a disappointing 3 star. Not hot, crust was meh and there wasnt enough sauce, and the cheese was very dry. One delivery there was no sauce. I understand these are individually made but management should look into this. Their pizza is expensive too so that doesnt help. $45 for medium pizza and small salad inc delivery and tip. Thats acceptable when its really good, waste of money for so so za. Restaurant is ok though like many restaurants in the area they have very young and inexperienced staff. read more

I don't know what it is about this place, but the pizza is so freakin' good. We purposely order much more than we need so we can have extras in the fridge for days to come. It's something about the cheese. It's definitely a family spot and is packed on Friday nights. Our family eats a lot of pie and we keep coming back to this joint. I love Aurelio's... but you're not really Aurelio's yet. I don't know if your oven hasn't seen enough pizzas yet, but you're just not right. Your crust is a little to airy and your cheese doesn't seem to be quite like the others. I taste little hints of it on the edges of some of the pieces and so I feel like maybe some day you'll be crazy tasty, but you're just not yet.
