We love the neighborhood decor that you will see all around the dining area. My husband got a combination sandwich and I got a chicken Parmesan. The plan was to split it. I have half of this combination is half of my chicken Parmesan. Well he got two bites of my chicken Parmesan. I didn't care for the combination at all, so we ended up trading back. Our waitress was great. It wasn't busy very clean restaurant just a little pricey great for groups. If you're going with one we'll have to try out pizza next time! read more

I have been a customer for over twenty years. Just did carry out last Saturday night. Picked up two 12 inch medium pizzas. My bill was $69 for carry out no tip. They added 3% for use of a credit card! Way overpriced and a service charge for using a credit card. Their charge for pizza is out of line compared to other pizza places. There were only two or three tables occupied in the restaurant on a Saturday night. Now I know why. Their pizza is good but so are many others in the area. Great way to lose customers by overcharging them and adding a credit card charge on top of that. I don't charge a credit card fee in my business. It's part of the cost of doing business and I appreciate people giving me the business and want them to come back. read more

Super disappointed. Ordered online here to pick at a particular time. I don't live far & our pizza was super cold by the time I got home, okay fine no big deal as we are able to warm it up at home. Next also ordered bosco sticks, I personally think these are like frozen bosco sticks that are warmed up but whatever the case is the cheese inside smelled terrible as if they were going bad. I I thought I had reviewed Aurelio's pizza. Apparently I was wrong. Their pizza is delicious. In fact, almost everything I've eaten there has been excellent. The service is above reproach. I've never had bad service. Their waitstaff is amazing. They are courteous, attentive to your needs, and treat their patrons with the utmost respect. The ambience is that of an old school pizza place and that is what I like. I don't want a pizza place to look like a $50 a plate restaurant. Poor service, food quality is sub-par, and the location manager is rude, unapproachable, and does not understand what customer service is. On three successive orders, this particular Aurelio's: - Delivered two pizzas that arrived inedible, complete disheveled and ingredients burnt - Denied a gift card and charged my credit card for the balance after I had left the store, despite telling me the gift card with sufficient balance was processed. - Delivered pizzas 2.5 hours early from an online order via their third party app./partner Slice. The receipt from Slice clearly laid out the delivery time and when I called the manager he replied, "there's nothing I can do about it, take it up with them." The manager is incapable of operating this restaurant. When speaking with him on the phone he deflected all accountability and refused to try and work with a long term customer to understand the issues with various aspects of this store. The Aurelio's franchise and family should audit this location. It's really ruining their brand. read more

We had been customers for years, but I think Aurelio's has run it's course. Appetizer - fried mushrooms were soggy and had a "musty" after taste. Sent them back. Melissa kept asking if they smelled funny. Nothing offered to make things right.  Meal - after waiting 90 minutes for a thin crust pizza we were told by Andy (owner) "it's Saturday night, things take longer". See photo for crowd scene. My favorite pizza! There motto is 'it's the sauce' but it is also the ovens. These pies come out with a crispy crust without being over cooked. Many sites in the Chicago area to choose from with a very consistent production. I only order the Super Six specialty but it is pricey. Only complaint was the ham on this one was slab type pieces, should be strips so it doesn't overpower the rest of the flavors. Restaurant was clean, and service was good. Can't wait to travel again and get some more... and I don't eat pizza. This is my one big cheat and its worth it. read more

My sister and brother-in-law invited me and my family to dinner at this Aurelio's a few days ago during our visit from Louisville. They both know Aurelio's is my favorite. I ordered a Super Six "The Works" pizza and my family ordered a spinach with other toppings. It was all delicious! Our server, Kristen B., was great, very attentive and pleasant, she's a real asset to that restaurant. The restaurant was clean and everyone was cordial toward us. We found this spot while walking around downtown La Grange this past weekend. This was one of the few spots open for outdoor dining on a a Sunday before 4 pm. It wasn't too busy and we were seated immediately at a nice, clean table. The waitress was very attentive and friendly and wore a mask the entire time. She gave great recommendations too. My husband had a calzone and I had a half order of cheese ravioli with Alfredo sauce. The half order was just right for a lunch. My husband loved the crispness of the calzone and is still talking about it. We will definitely be back and will probably order delivery, too. It was a great experience and I'm happy to see more places like this beginning to open for outdoor diners again. read more

How to begin...? Only order the pizza if you must visit this place. Not great pizza but it beats the rest of the menu. Please, leave the rest of menu alone if want to enjoy your food. 2 stars only for excellent service and semi-good pizza. It stops there. Seriously. Look, the service was excellent and our server was on point despite having an entire large section to herself. The time of day was probably why she was able to get so much done with since most patrons were just mostly having long conversation over a casual lunch. This allowed her time to do her job well and cater to everyone in a timely fashion since tables and their need for service were staggered. Moving on to the food... no matter the service, it doesn't makeup for the downside of our experience, the food. The Calamari, not fresh, very nasty fishy. Calamari isn't like thatand I love Calamari. I actually spit it out as I gagged. We didn't eat it at all after trying it. Yuck. We made no mention of it to the server because this was our first time there and that one taste proved it may be our last time there. I avoid the "let me get you something else" or whatever other approaches restaurants have to these circumstances because it's annoying in definitive circumstances like this where the Calamari drew the line of certainty. The Calamari was simply old or improperly stored and neither can be forgiven. There's no excuse for that, it upsets me as a food lover and previously a culinary professional. To me it represents poor kitchen practices. Sorry, rancid seafood is always a "no return" policy for me. The rest of our 4 menu items we didn't finish because we didn't like them, though we did pick at it because we were starving. No point in naming them because the common theme in flavor profile was bland. Finally, the pizza came at the end. At last, one thing that actually let itself be eaten until it was gone. Sadly, the only thing we should've ordered from the get. This place is the example of why some have said over time "when at a restaurant, only order what they specialize in if you wish to avoid possible disappointment". In response to Ross, Mr. Boss. For as long as you've been in business, I simply didn't want to waste my time on it. The service interruption, the questions, the apologies, the bribery, etc. Been there, done that and it's only acceptable in certain circumstances and this was not one. There's absolutely no excuse for that Calamari issue. If you've got "line checks" amongst other checklists, policies and procedures in place and your cooks are paying attention to their handling of food and the outcome of preparation then any well trained nose, would've caught this before it reached me. The only reason I didn't catch it until I ate it was because it was brought out with other appetizers so smells were mixed but trust my tastebuds caught that real quick. It's not my job anymore to teach restaurants and save super established businesses from disaster. Now, I simply try places in hopes to find gems even if just a dish, service or aesthetics. Toppings were light but ok flavor. Chicken wings had a good flavor but really small and unevenly shaped. Salad was basic. Clean restaurant and bathrooms. Nice location. BEST THIN CRUST PIZZA... PERIOD! Ask for your pizza to be cooked in the "Old World Oven". It takes a little longer but the exceptional taste is well worth the wait. This place doesn't skimp on the toppings and just knows how to make a damn good pie. In comparison to other Aurelio's, both sit down and takeout, this is by far the nicest. The interior decor, the management, the staff- superb! My boyfriend and I were just so impressed... in fact, we were impressed so much so that actually applied for a job... fingers crossed, especially in this economy. The thin crust pizza was excellent, especially the crust. I also enjoyed the fact of being able to place and pay for your order on Grubhub. It cut down on wait time, so I was very appreciative. Although, there was a slight glitch, they handled it with excellent service and the Pizza was ready as promised via the app. The only drawback is parking. Excellent food in a cozy atmosphere. TVs playing sports with a BNSF Metra line theme. The booths along the walls have the different stops on the BNSF line. They also have historic photos hanging on the walls of La Grange and the area. I grew up on Aurelio's in Homewood (the original) and loved their pizza - one of my favorites. Over the years, the Homewood location has gone downhill. In comes the La Grange location. The one hidden secret about both locations is you need to ask for the pizza to be baked in the old oven. Yes, La Grange has one too! It just tastes better. I'm a thin crust fan here and would rank their thin crusts as one of my favorites. The sauce is sweeter than most places, which I love. It's more in line with Gino's East than Lou Malnati's. Lou's sauce has more of a tomato taste. The bread sticks and onion rings are pretty good. I was surprised that their beef sandwich was as good as it was. It has a different taste than other beef places, but I enjoy their beef more than Portillo's because it's just a nice change of pace. I usually get it with red sauce on top and sometimes cheese. The owner explained that the difference is in how the beef is cooked. One's pressed, the other isn't. A little background. The owner is also a big fan of the original Aurelio's and wanted to do things right when he opened up the franchise in La Grange. He wanted the best quality ingredients and also brought in an old oven like the original. He is a very nice guy - very personable. He has remembered my family's names since the first time we stepped into his establishment and has stopped by to say hi every time he sees us there. You will see him there every night. To him, I just want to say: Thank you for bringing a great pizza to the western suburbs - just like I remember growing up! The best in the West! Other notes: parking is on the street (if you can get a spot). There is a parking lot on the west end of the block to park. Also, Calendar St is one-way, so you cannot turn on Calendar from La Grange Rd. You need to turn west on Burlington Ave (from the north) (which is the street south of the tracks) OR turn west on Harris Ave (from the south). If you like thin crust pizza this place takes extra pains to make sure the crust is nice and crunchy...not soggy! On top of the usual pan, they place a grate of sorts that keeps the pizza aerated so that the crust doesn't get soggy from condensation underneath. I hate soggy, limp crust. We ordered a thin crust sausage, pepperoni and mushrooms and it was a delicious, italian tasting pizza. My husband was in the mood for pizza and our favorite place, John's on Ogden Avenue seems to have mysteriously closed down over the last week. Hmmm... Anyway, he ordered a family size ....cuz my husband has a huge appetite and he figured he'd take some for work and snacks for the next day or so. And of course there was plenty left over. I ordered their spaghetti with marinara and a $3 meatball. In my opinion, the spaghetti was quite a bit over al dente and that meatball may have been 60% meat, the rest breadcrumbs. BUT, it was tasty. I made the comment to my husband that they cooked the spaghetti for a kid's palate. We both had a drink and they were generously poured. The waitress was pleasant and food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. Only four stars because of the overcooked spaghetti and for stretching out the meatballs with too many breadcrumbs. Bad food honesty the food taste wrong! With every bite I take it's like it keeps violently violating my taste buds! The cheese was tougher than the bread and it fell apart the crust was too mushy and the cheese was extremely cheap! Some of the vegetables in this place seriously need to be checked for expiration dates! (For the salads). The overall service was mid! Staff here was really nice when you walk in but their skills were really low on the servers side! As for the location of this place it feels like a really nice place when you first look from the outside! But as soon as one walks In, one might just feel like they are walking into a sandwich shop such as (Potbellys *no offense to the franchise there*) the place looks pretty run down with a gaming section to it and the restaurant really feels old.
