The pickle was average. The only thing I'm nitpicky about is that I love red onions on sandwiches and they use white onion. I chose provolone cheese to go with my Italian meats. The service was good, the man I'm assuming is the owner was kind and patient with me. There's two tables inside and a few outside the building. This tiny but mighty sandwich shop is hidden away between a cluster of office buildings. I'm grateful for the pictures people took of the outside of the shop. While I was there, someone asked for "the usual" - I'm sure this is where you eat if you work in these buildings. The sandwich itself was solid - soft, fresh bread (I had a sweet roll), and a good amount of meat and veggies. A little light on the condiments, but it's easier to add than to remove. Here is my two cents on the quality quantity and and price of my order.. It was delivered by GrubHub in a timely matter.. I order a pastrami sandwich on rye bread, large . The best thing I thought when I first opened up that they had slice it in threes to make it more manageable that was outstanding... a couple of things I didn't like, which was probably my fault. They had placed tomatoes and lettuce on the sandwich.. I thought it was out of place, putting lettuce and tomato on a prime sandwich. A traditional pastrami sandwich should be pastrami maybe some onions and cheese and whatever mustard or mayonnaise you need.. they did the whole works, which was fine. And the other modern thing which I don't like is, it's too lean.. People are too concerned about their diet and what they take. That is flavor if you cannot enjoy life I live.! This is a nice mom and pop shop located near office buildings. We came by during lunch and it was very quiet and peaceful. The club sandwich had a generous amount of deli meat, but the overall sandwich is mid at best. The bread was soft and lacked any type of a crunch (a Dutch crunch without any crunch). A good place for a quick lunch. This is a small lunch and breakfast Mom and Pop place that makes good food. They have a basic sandwich menu and rotating specials on a schedule (Monday specials, Tuesday specials, etc...) There is limited dine-space; they only have a few tiny tables, but there are tables outside in the courtyards a few steps away. I've had lunch here several times since moving into the office complex a few weeks ago. The best things I've had are the Gyro platter, Falafel Special, and the Tilapia Special (nicely prepared fish served over rice with a lemon garlic sauce). Most things are prepared to order, so if you arrive right at the beginning of the noon hour, you may have to wait. (The Tilapia Special was pre-made). read more

That day came and I was not paid. I had to transfer funds from my savings just to make sure I am covered. When the story came to light, my former boss (still works w/ the company but for a different customer) said that I should be on payroll's ass until I get paid but in my defense, I sent them 2 emails and I left a message plus I was ready to get out of the office. We got in the car, he drove, and let me pick where I want to go. Freddie's it was! When we came, I ran in and got the menu so we can look at it. He wanted the Club and I wanted the Italian Combo. He lit his cigarette so that was a queue that he wasn't going to come in but little did I know that he didn't want me paying for his or mine. He gave me more than enough for whatever else I wanted but I stuck to just the sandwich. After about 10 minutes, our order was ready! The Italian Combo was delicious; the salami, ham, cheese, lettuce, and bread was at its perfect ratio. I enjoyed my half very much. Mom and Pop are the only ones working and although he was nice, I can see how the other reviewers had a different experiences if it's busy. Got a meatball sandwich and it just probably some Costco meatballs in a roll. Costco sells good meatballs but I guess I wanted bigger. Wow, two years on the job here, and just recently started to discover Gateway Cafe and now Freddie's Sandwiches No. 2. For those on the North of Airport Parkway, you have a variety of options, and for those of us on Metro and willing to walk, here is what we can find: Star Cafe - Best Service Gateway Cafe - Best Specials Freddie's Sandwiches - Best Deli Sandwiches All three have their advantages, but let's talk about my trip to Freddie's. Located off the courtyard, they have signs outside and on the windows to let you know it's there. And I will say the sign for Gyros was tempting, but I sadly had had a lamb salad from Zeytoun the day before. But with an Italian Combo on the menu, I had to get it. It was good. It was the best deli sandwich I've had in this area. Not just from eating it, but the meat slicer behind the counter tells you they slice all their cold cuts in house. And you can taste the difference. They also slice their lettuce real thin, like it tastes like sprouts thin. The sandwich was great and huge, and I'm glad for the long walk to and fro. They have decent deli choices: you have your ham, turkeys plural, salami, pastrami, but also mortadella. And I will definitely try their hot sandwiches like the meatball and gyros wrap in a pita. Other things I like - choices of bread, their fresh juices, and it was hard to ignore the smell of their giant cookies. My company just moved to Gateway and I tried Freddie's for lunch today! It's nice to have a good place so close to the office! The place itself is small, just a couple tables inside. The staff is very friendly. The menu is pretty decently sized for a small place in addition to daily specials. There is also a good selection of drinks and chips. I ordered the Club on soft sourdough. I devoured it. The sandwich was very good and I was impressed with the quality of the bread. I definitely will be back! I must try the Pastrami and the Gyro...and and...the list goes on. Oh and the huge chocolate chip cookies look dangerous! read more
