I'm actually obsessed with BoBo's, and I 100% mean that. BoBo's is the truth. If you're looking for…read morethe best soul food in Rochester (and beyond?) look no further. Mr. BoBo makes all of the food in-house and it's made fresh, he is the nicest guy you'll ever meet too. Keep in mind that this is not a sit-down place, in fact there are no tables, so you'll need to treat as take-out only. His entrees cost like $10-$14, but portions are massive. You'll have leftovers for a while. Each dish comes with a meat (chicken wings or ribs), and 2 sides (yams, mac and cheese, collard greens), cornbread, and rice. You can add shrimp for like $3 more. The flavor you guys, the flavor. I have never liked collard greens until I had this man's collard greens, the flavor from the ham-hock is indescribable. The mac and cheese is creamy and seasoned well, the yams are as sweet as candy. The complimentary pieces, the cornbread and the rice are just as good. The rice tastes like chicken and the cornbread is cake, literal sweet, delicious cake. Moving on to the meats, both ribs and chicken wings fall off the bone and BoBo's house-made sauce is A MUST. Every time I eat it, my taste-buds are assaulted by the tenderness of the meat, the flavor and the sauce. Plan on not moving for a while after eating BoBo's because you will be full and in a good way.

Greeted with such friendly energy at a time of day when most are struggling to smile!…read moreThe inside is so colorful , with Tucker the Rooster greeting you straight away! So cute! Ordered chicken wings, mashed potatoes and gravy. There was a wait for the food of approximately 25 mins as all the chicken is cooked as ordered. I had no problem with this as these chewing were the best fried chicken wings I have EVER eaten! And I am not kidding!

She's a pro and clearly cares. I loved how she described the menu and the way she shared some aspects of her recipes in the descriptions to let me know how/why what she puts out is special and different. Due to it being a small place, I could hear into the kitchen. I had the opportunity to hear, fully, how she's simultaneously running the front end and coaching a newly hired kitchen staff in the back. She was not shouting, not yelling, she was coaching. It will pay off. For the owner and how she runs her business, 2 stars. I got the chicken wing dinner. Was fine. Not note worthy. So 1 star for the food. Everything needed seasoning. And when I get wings, my preference by far is to have them sauced. My 2oz soufflé cup of sauce on the side is not going to make me return. For anyone who has read my other reviews, you know coleslaw is an addiction for me. I had to add my wing blue cheese to it for moisture. Again, well thought out and fresh. Just not my style preference. It's clearly popular. The take out line was full. I'm glad. She/they work hard and take pride. Better than fast food chicken, but can't compete with the great pubs and taverns in the area. Different animals all together.

Despite that I keep thinking about what I want to try next time I go. The atmosphere, scale and feel of the dining room is fantastic. It sort of feels like a Rochester version of Cheers. I love that they had all the doors open and the beautiful summer evening climate was enjoyable whether you sat inside or outside. This meant dealing with a few gnats or flies at our indoor table. I started with a Caesar side salad which was very good. The entrees we had were Salmon and Chicken Riggies. The Chicken RIggies were great. Not spicy at all but made-to-order so it could be made spicy. The pasta was perfectly tender but firm, the diced chicken was flavorful and easy to eat. It was THE most successful Chicken Riggie dish I've tried to date anywhere and I took the leftovers home to enjoy for lunch the next day, a rarity for me. The salmon was not a hit. It seemed pretty fishy especially in the areas that were thinner and had become chewier from the grill drying it out. What they call roasted corn is really 'chili powder roasted corn'. The chili powder flavor was quite pronounced and not very well integrated into the dish. It tasted like very ordinary corn with very ordinary chili powder sprinkled on it. I'm sure that isn't how the dish is made but that's what it tasted like. The Cheesy Eddie's carrot cake was absolutely perfect and tasted like it was just made. It's hard to defend the pricing. Our 2 entrees, 1 side salad, 1 soft drink and 2 small glasses of wine and 1 piece of carrot cake ended up being 145 dollars after tax and tip. If the wine pour had been a nice 9 ounce pour I would have had a single glass but I had 2 because they were small. Even with 1 wine this was going to be WELL over 100 dollars for 2 people even before tip. In any head-to-head comparison with something like The Distillery or Genesee Brew House, this pricing is probably out of line. If we go back, it will be with great appreciation for the setting and modest expectations for the food.
