Not so much new I guess, as according to the owners, they bought the place a few years ago. The owners are super friendly, with the wife working in the back and the husband up front taking orders. On my first visit back, I tried the strawberry and peach smoothie, which was blended perfectly. According to the owner, avocado and mango is their best selling smoothie, so that's on my to-try list. He also shared that their acai bowls are the best on the island, so of course I returned today for an acai bowl. No longer $7 these days; a medium acai bowl is now $12. Can you believe I thought $7 was expensive 12 years ago? The owners shared that they don't source their acai from Sambazon (despite the sign still being up at their shop), as Sambazon has added sugar in their acai blends. Their acai blends do not include added sugar, other than the natural sugars as well as the sweetness you get from the honey of course. The acai bowl included what appeared to be an entire banana, a heaping amount of strawberries and blueberries, crunchy granola, and just the right amount of honey. There's a lot of fruit but less acai than I expected. This was the first time I had to ration the acai towards the end, rather than the fruit. The acai was definitely a lot icier than I prefer. I didn't care for it much at first because of how icy it is. But as I was finishing the bowl, I found myself wishing I had more because as the acai began melting, it started tasting creamier and yummier. Although this was a solid acai bowl, I'm not sure if I would say it's the best I've had. It's definitely high up there though - I especially liked that the acai was not too sweet. I think I'll have to try it again, and maybe let it melt more before eating. When the acai was icy, there was not much flavor. The flavor came out more as it was melting so i think it'll taste a lot better if I let it sit and melt a bit.

As soon as I reached that layer I knew something was off; it tasted like the cream had gone bad. Like the kind of taste that something with oil in it gets when it spoils. The cup was basically inedible at that point since the pistachio was near the top. We went back to request a new one without the pistachio, which the staff kindly did. The man working the cashier who I assume was the owner/manager informed us that while they've gotten other comments about the pistachio, it just has a "strong flavor" and that is how it came straight from the distributor. I've tried all different kinds of pistachio spreads and none have tasted like that. I still don't think that batch I got should have been served, and I encourage the managers and employees to taste the pistachio cream for themselves. Overall, I appreciate that they were apologetic and quick to replace my bowl, but I seriously think something was wrong with the pistachio cream. I simply parked right beside the trailer which is super convenient as parking is the challenge in the area, and ordering the açaí bowl is basically the same as any other places are you choose your base, size and the topping sets which I did...OG Acai, Manini Size, Da Aloha Krew Special (Strawberry, Banana, Blueberry, Granola and Honey) the Manini (small) size is $10 and depends of the toppings are additional which Da Aloha Krew Special is +$1.50. As of course it's all made to order but it was a very short wait and my bowl and this Manini is a very perfect size as it's filled to the brim this gorgeous bowl is very Special indeed! Not really have much of place to eat I took my bowl to another area to relax and enjoy and let me tell you it withstood the afternoon heat and didn't sweat at all which was just incredible! It all held together much better than my sweating self it really was the perfect treat to refuel and fresh your appetite and they also have smoothies which I really want to go back and try as this is the coolest place in Kaka'ako. This was an outdoor market so expect it to be hot and with lots of tourists walking around - so if that's not your vibe then maybe their truck is a better option.

The staff was friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even sweeter. I tried the strawberry and the strawberry with chocolate--both were so good! The mochi itself was super soft and fresh, with just the right amount of sweetness. Definitely a treat I'd get again.
