Pretzels
Jack S.

Slow service and had to wait in line for a long time. There's two cash registers but only one was being used. Pretzels was delicious though.

2nd level kiosk.

They have quality pretzels here. We were doing our usual inclement weather fitness steps here at Fashion Outlets and counteracted that activity by picking up a sweet almond pretzel. Normal price is $3.99 but today we also used a handy mobile app $2 coupon.

Gotta have these when working at the mall

“I would clip one of those coupons to get a cup of cinnamon pretzel nuggets and a regular pretzel with salt for under $4.”

A short fuse and a close call…read more After Emily and I checked in to our hotel room, we wanted to stretch our legs and see if there was anything nearby for some beer and some food. Turns out, Short Fuse was right up the road and a 5 minute walk got us there. For a Sunday, it wasn't too busy but not dead, so we got seated right away. We ordered some beer and took a look at the menu. While nothing really struck our fancy, our waitress made a comment that if we did want any food, it might be slim pickings as they were running out of stuff. Turns out, this day was the last day they were open. Talk about timing! After she mentioned that, I started to notice that people were buying bar signs and various other things. Emily started off with a Guava Gose and I grabbed a Krankshaft kolsch. We sampled each other beers and we both really liked what the other ordered. I don't really know what a gose is but, damn, was that good! I've had Krankshaft before so I knew what I was getting myself in to. We ended up ordering a second round of the same beers and let each other sample the other's beer a little more liberally this time. While we were kind of hungry, nothing on the menu really struck our fancy, especially considering they might've been out of it. Room service took care of those hunger pangs later after a few more beers in the hotel bar. Online reviews for this place seemed hit and miss but I really enjoyed my time there and really enjoyed the artwork on the walls and the vibe of the place. We did contemplate buying some bar signs on our way out but declined as we don't know what we would exactly do with them. It sucks to see a small business close but they did say they may try to open up a new place in a new location in the future.

I also tend to be on concourse E, where United Airlines and Air Canada gates are. I'd say that I've dropped by ORD intermittently for the past two decades. A ritual that hasn't changed over the years is for me to grab a snack at Auntie Anne's. This store has always been on concourse E, which is comforting to me. This Auntie Anne's is the only one that I know that offers full pretzel hot dogs. I'm so used to not seeing them that they are unicorns when I do. It was roughly 8 am and I had two hours to kill before my flight. I needed breakfast, as I had been up since 2 am. Mini pretzel dogs for breakfast? Yes, please! There were perhaps two folks in front of me in the lineup. It allowed me to salivate over the offerings. This store has always been fully stocked with yummy pretzel products. I had a nice woman helping me with my order. I got mini pretzel dogs and a bottle of Diet Coke. I paid with a credit card. Done! She put my mini pretzel dogs in a bag. She handed me a cold bottle of Diet Coke. I thanked her, wished her a great day, and headed to a place to sit down and eat. The mini pretzel dogs hit the spot. The hot dogs were plump. The pretzel dough around each one was yummy. I was a happy camper. My Diet Coke washed everything down. It was also perfect for me to stay hydrated on my last flight segment home. It was great revisiting this Auntie Anne's. Although ORD isn't my favourite airport when I'm trying to catch a flight and the airline flight segments are different (the walk is typically excruciatingly long), coming here for my hot dog pretzel fix makes the experience at this airport much better. Son-in-Law and Grandson were driving up to Wisconsin from Florida via the Tri-State and this was…read morethe most logical place to rendezvous. It's a big room, with a nice vibe. As we sat down, I received a call from a major touring group who needed some help with their Hammond Organ. How long was the call? Wife and the Lads ordered their food and were half-done with it by the time I returned. Grrrrrrrrrr..... All three had ordered Smash Burgers and said they were quite good. When I finally got the chance to rejoin my Family, I looked at the menu and figured the Cold Cut Combo Sandwich would be the fastest and easiest. I ordered it with Truffle Fries. The Sandwich was actually very good, and the Truffle Fries were some of the best I ever had. The sando was Mortadell' and Sopressata. Good quality, too. Not supermarket crap. With a giardinera aioli. What's not to like? Good things come to those who wait, n'est ce pas? I ordered a Windbreaker Ale, and it was a hoppy delight. Worked real well with the sandwich and fries. Service was fine. This place is a definite cruise from Stately Breakwind Manor, so I don't know if it will be in regular rotation. It's also a bit pricy, but whaddya 'spect? it's almost adjacent to O'hare and in an "entertainment district". The menu is all familiar stuff, they're not re-inventing the wheel. But they coulda gone cheap on a "Cold Cut Combo", and they didn't, so that's a green flag the rest of the Carte is worth eating. Betcha the Pizzas rock...

I believe they do have some nights where and they have activities like trivia and stuff I just glanced at it but I wasn't really paying attention so if you guys are into that you might want to check that out. Happy eating!
