Truly a hidden gem. NC Chocolatier has always been one of those places I drive by daily and say…read morehey I'm going to stop by one day. Well that day came, and I'm forever grateful I did. Located in a small plaza and can be confusing with the Illinois Nut and Candy sign but when you walk in the sweet smell of chocolate fills the air. There are glass closures of bon bons/ truffles that I've learned are hand painted, chocolate covered everything, gelato and more. They also have taffy apples, some with just the caramel, some with nuts, some with chocolate chips. You can never go wrong! Their chocolate is kosher friendly and I'm obsessed with the cookie bark, I could eat that all day. Highly recommend going on one of their chocolate tours too that's available on sundays. Make sure you book first as I found out they do sell out. You get to learn the history of chocolate and make your own taffy apples and chocolate dipped goodies. They also ship nationwide, I am definitely going to order some goodies for birthdays coming up!

The place was sparkling clean. There was chocolate as far as the eye could see. And, the chocolate fountain was amazing! I could swim in that stuff. Pure heaven! The bonbons were to die for! I got the blood orange one and it was decadent and delightful! It was zesty and sweet with a pop of bittersweetness from the rich dark chocolate. It was a dream. I couldn't recommend this place more! We started out the night with learning all about chocolate and how to make it. Then, we learned all about the history behind NC chocolate. Which, I found absolutely fascinating! After, we dipped cookies in chocolate and pretzels. Then, we got to decorate them! Which, I loved! It felt as if I was a kid in a candy store. Then, we got to make our own caramel apples covered in peanuts, cookies, or cereal. Which, was a blast! After, we were given lots of samples and treats to take home. Along, with a swag bag! Thank you, Kesha, and NC company for making this wonderful experience possible!

Such a sweet (pun intended) cute place that's easily accessible right near the Damen Brown Line…read morestop! Amy's has such a wide variety of sweets for anyone to find something they can enjoy. I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the treats available. The entire shop gives a very personalized feel while keeping a bit of an old-timey aesthetic. The worker was very kind and patient as we looked around to see all the goodies. The highlight for me is the ice cream here. I had a coffee and Oreo flavor and it was AMAZING! Once again, the quality of the ice cream was fantastic. I happened to miss the server put a chocolate malt ball at the bottom of the ice cream cone. It was such a pleasant surprise at the end of my ice cream! There is a small spot to sit outside and some other seating farther out. It's in the quiet area of Ravenswood and if you aren't taking the Brown line, there's definitely parking available. Will definitely be coming back when I'm wanting some sweet treats.

They've got everything from the trendy/viral Swedish gummies & Dubai chocolates to the more old-school licorice and marzipan. They also offer hand-crafted chocolate bars, caramels and marshmallows. For the gummies, I believe they let you sample the treats before if you're not ready to commit to a whole bag. You can build your own bag from the jars, or grab their pre-packaged ones. A personal fave for me is the chocolate covered gummy bears, YUM! It's a small shop, so it can be chaotic if it's full (for example, on Valentine's Day), but I like how approachable it is and how quickly you can be in and out. You can also buy their stuff online which is an added plus- a great opportunity to shop local but spread the sweetness to loved ones from afar.

It's pretty small inside, there are only a few tables. A server comes to your table to place your order, which I feel like never happens at ice cream shops anymore! The menu is huge! There were multiple sections to banana splits, sundaes, and shakes. We decided to go with something simple. My son ordered 2 scoops of cookies n cream ice cream (with sprinkles of course) and I got moose tracks! The ice cream is the real deal. Our server was super sweet, and we were in and out of there in probably 30-45 minutes. We had the best time and will definitely be back this summer.

(The fact that the joint's been around for over 100 years doesn't hurt either.) It's a small restaurant but we managed to snag a cozy table near the back. We'd already spent most of the day eating, so we decided to share the Atomic Fudge Sundae. It's a fairly enormous concoction. I found it interesting that the hot fudge was served on the side, but it's actually pretty smart because you get control how much (or how little) sauce you get. The ice cream is the highlight. It's creamy and rich, and it's got a really nice flavor, too. The hot fudge was less impressive, but that might be because I had already eaten a Ghirardelli sundae earlier in the day and their hot fudge just can't be beat. The service was super friendly and the atmosphere was kitschy and fun. It's a cool place.

Located right off the Kimball ramp of the Kennedy Expressway, and just one block south of the Home Depot at Kimball and Addison. The prices are fantastic. The employees are just the kind of people who should be working in a candy store-very sweet. They have chocolate covered everything here: nuts, berries, pretzels, plus those yogurt-covered candies, bags of whole nuts (cashews at $5.99 a lb.), chocolate and yogurt coated caramel and nut patties, and lot's of very reasonably priced holiday and gift packaged items. Many are between $5-10.00. (Great picks for those folks you don't really like but for some reason you need to give them a gift.) Or stocking stuffers. I acted as my own parent here and said: "OK, now you can buy one thing here, just ONE!" I ended up with a nice large bag of something I know I will eat in one day once I start on them: Chocolate-coated sponge candy. An 11 ounce bag for $5.14! Such a deal. If I'm a good boy this week, perhaps my inner parent will let me go back for more goodies!

The person who took the call was way beyond nice, helpful and accommodating and went way above and beyond expectations to ensure I got exactly what I was searching for. This meant having the nuts sent from its suburban location to the shop on Kimball. This kind of service engenders great loyalty and you can bet I'll shop this little store often and also tell others how delighted I was with the whole 5-star experience. Also: the pecans are pretty amazing!
