My family and I were so excited to try this place, as it had recently opened up on Central Street. We were all SO disappointed by their portion sizes. Cost was insane for what you got! I ended up paying over $6 for what should have been a kid's sized cup (maybe a 1/4 cup of ice cream). This happened to everyone I was with (mom, dad, sister, and boyfriend), so we went back inside to complain. All the staff just replied, "That's just how much we were told to give" and refused to give us larger portions. We ended up going to Hartigan's to get a FULL CUP and it was much better priced there! Parlor is cute inside and ice cream tasted good, but either increase your portions or charge less; it's that simple. **Added receipt to validate review**

Mint chocolate chip is a staple. Z'Oreo is a great choice as well!

Great and friendly service. Amazing portions and great options and flavors. Kids love the changing menu.

Chocolate Shoppe ice cream, kind--and LOCAL--owners, and a GREAT location in the heart of Central Street...would could be better?

Vegan flavors are changed throughout the week. They told me every few days some of the flavors change.

Cute ice cream shop! We ordered 5 different flavors and they were all delicious. A nice addition to Central Street!

Delicious ice cream with great flavors. We have now gone 3x in one week and it has been consistent each time.

I don't know why I'm so out of the loop with what's going on in Lincoln Park, but just like a…read morerestaurant across the street from here, I have NEVER heard of this place. I used to hang out in this area for three years straight for dance class and grad school and just totally overlooked it. It was founded in 1988, and I have no clue when it came to Chicago though so maybe I didn't. I just had a sweet tooth after leaving Blue Sushi across the street (and didn't realize they had a dessert menu). I could not care less about cake, donuts or pie, but I can demolish ice cream and/or candy like nobody's business. The problem is, as a second-round vegan, it's tough for me to find nondairy desserts. I poked my head in here 99.9% sure they were going to say everything was dairy. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they had a new Silk chocolate almond milk ice cream. I wish I caught the lady's name that was there today because she was so bubbly and friendly. When I stared at her in confusion after she asked me did I want "Like it, Love It or Gotta Have It," I realized this order was about to be involved. I like the way that the employees mix your toppings around in the ice cream instead of dumping them on top where you end up eating them way too fast. A family member stopped to take my pic while I tasted a spoonful, and I guess I looked extra happy because I caught the lady behind the counter smile as big as I did. Happiness is contagious. Anyway, love the place. Love my almond milk frozen dessert. There's only one table to sit at and someone was there, so I flopped down on a nearby bench and enjoyed my birthday sweet!

My husband showed up on my daughter's birthday and was told they didn't make it because of AC issues ... no one told us before that this was an issue and there would be no cake. They said they were not allowed to issue refunds and offered to give us a cake later that day (which would be after my daughter's birthday celebration was over), and the manager would contact us for refund. 20 days later, 3 phone calls and we still have not received a call from the manager and we still are out over $65.

It's pretty small inside, there are only a few tables. A server comes to your table to place your order, which I feel like never happens at ice cream shops anymore! The menu is huge! There were multiple sections to banana splits, sundaes, and shakes. We decided to go with something simple. My son ordered 2 scoops of cookies n cream ice cream (with sprinkles of course) and I got moose tracks! The ice cream is the real deal. Our server was super sweet, and we were in and out of there in probably 30-45 minutes. We had the best time and will definitely be back this summer.

(The fact that the joint's been around for over 100 years doesn't hurt either.) It's a small restaurant but we managed to snag a cozy table near the back. We'd already spent most of the day eating, so we decided to share the Atomic Fudge Sundae. It's a fairly enormous concoction. I found it interesting that the hot fudge was served on the side, but it's actually pretty smart because you get control how much (or how little) sauce you get. The ice cream is the highlight. It's creamy and rich, and it's got a really nice flavor, too. The hot fudge was less impressive, but that might be because I had already eaten a Ghirardelli sundae earlier in the day and their hot fudge just can't be beat. The service was super friendly and the atmosphere was kitschy and fun. It's a cool place.

Back then, the ice cream was outstanding, and the experience matched its reputation. Today, I live in Glenview, so we usually go to Oberweis because it's much closer. Their ice cream is consistently excellent, and the stores are always clean and well maintained. We decided to give Homer's another try the other night, and it was honestly very disappointing. The building looks like it hasn't been updated in years. The paint is peeling, the ceiling tiles are stained and dirty, and the entire place feels worn out and neglected. After all the success Homer's has had over the decades, it's surprising that more hasn't been invested back into the store. Even more disappointing was the ice cream itself. I don't know if the recipe has changed, but the texture and overall quality were nowhere near what I remember. It honestly reminded me of inexpensive, mass-produced ice cream rather than the premium product Homer's was once known for. Of all the local ice cream shops in the area, this was my least favorite experience. It's really a shame because Homer's was once an institution on the North Shore with an incredible reputation. I sincerely hope the owners take a hard look at both the condition of the store and the quality of the product. This place deserves better than what it's become. Unfortunately, after this visit, I won't be returning.
