This shop is all about the presentation! The ice cream is shaped like little bears and it's adorable. Kids would absolutely love it, and it's a really fun spot to visit in Niles. The staff was nice and the shop felt welcoming.

    So yummy!

I was so sad to hear when the Skokie location closed but im happy this one is still open and thriving! My go-to order is a green tea bubble shake with tapioca. Nothing beats it for me. I ordered a shake over the weekend and it literally tastes the same from 15+ years ago. Pure nostalgia for me. I may be a little biased cause I'm filipino (hehe). But all their other ice cream flavors are bomb too!!!

What are Filipino flavors you ask? Well there is my go to which is the ube. Ube is part of the sweet potato family but it's deep purple in color. It's sweet and somewhat nutty and it is truly making its name out there right now, especially in Chicago. They also have buko pandan - a coconut flavor, and cheese and corn. Yes you read that right - but don't knock it til you try it! The ice cream shop is small and they only have a few small tables and chairs available, so it's not great for large groups. Samples are available so if you are not sure about a flavor, don't be scared to ask to try it. Service has usually been pretty quick whenever I come, so no complaints there.

I'm so glad we finally got to give Triple Scoop'd a try! Usually when we've been near here in the…read moresummer it's crawling with folks and there's no place to park. Yesterday was the first or second 70 degree day of 2026, so the weather was perfect and the seasonal re-opening of the DQ a mile away was to our advantage because the crowd was a bit quieter here and we were able to find a street spot. I think my daughter was overwhelmed when we walked in; there are lots of choices. She could barely contain herself, but I guess that's to be expected of a two year old. I got her a kiddie scoop of decadent chocolate, which she liked but may have been a bit too chocolatey for her. Or maybe she just wanted to taste a bit of mine and was done with the chocolate. I got a single scoop of the caramel ice cream. I'm not really sure if the sizes were different or if it was the size of the cup because they seemed the same. Both ice creams were so flavorful, really rich. It's a dangerous place to stop that's for sure. But next time I'm getting a scoop of each! As with almost all the South Park businesses, there's no dedicated parking. You'll look for street parking. South Park is across the street so I imagine some days at the wading pool with a stop for ice cream afterward are in our future. There's seating both in and outside; we sat outside and it was really pleasant. They have pre-portioned ice cream in a cooler inside as well as ice cream cakes, and a water dispenser as well. They have a little cart that I've seen at various functions around town as well, if you're out and about and happen upon them. You can also rent the cart for your own event! The staff were helpful, the store was neat and tidy. This is a wonderful small business in Park Ridge and we're so lucky to have them here!

Each place has a theme, or a charm all its own and Grind N Gears Cafe is one of the latter. When you pull up you immediately recognize the place as a former body shop or service station. Not a as station, but a body shop. They have their own small parking lot in front with special motorcycle parking on the sides of the lot. It's a small place. When you walk inside there is a runner leading up to the counter with their case of delicious looking eats and a platform above with an old Indian motorcycle perched looking over the place. To the right of the counter are some toys for the kids, including a kids motorcycle and other funs toys to keep the kiddos busy while their parents enjoy a magically concocted coffee drink by the shops artisans. There are comfy little sitting areas composed of oversized furniture from your parents basement. The front has a few racks of leather jackets that feels like your at The Alley's northern location. They do have some hats and apparel for their own shop and I almost bought a hat. On the left side, they have another seating area, but it looks more like a table in a cozy kitchen than a sitting room. It's quaint no matter where you look or sit. Lastly, their drinks and food are quite good. With all the stand alone coffee places popping up, Grinds N Gears is one of the cooler places and I don't mean hipster.

But once you get inside it's so much fun. With a variety of drinks from coffee to teas and boba there's really something for any mood. They also have baked good from local bakeries.
