This is one of my favorites and my go to comfort food places. I literally have ordered a quart of custom ice cream from here and they created my ridiculous order with a smile. Even I order online and they don't accept all of my ridiculous requests if I call them up they are so happy to accommodate me and make me exactly what I ask for. It is so stinking delicious and can addictive so I have to be careful with this one! They also have seasonal flavors, like cinnamon bun . The moment you step in to the shop you can feel the hospitality of the workers even though the shop is small. My favorite order is the large size made up of mostly cake batter with a little bit of sweet cream and a little bit of cookie dough ice cream and then actual cookie dough at least 3 and sugar crystals. This place is a staple and it better never leave Evanston! read more

First I will say that the ice cream at this location is typical Cold Stone ice cream and the workers are friendly and helpful--that is not the issue, which is why they get 2 stars. That being said, I don't know what is going on with this place, but every time I go in there it is incredibly filthy. This last Friday we stopped by, hoping to eat inside. When we went to sit down, we looked down and noticed hundreds (and I'm not exaggerating) of ants pouring in from a small crack under a wall, and they were all over one section of the floor. I whispered this to a worker, not wanting to make a thing of it, and she very lowkey said "oh, wow, okay." In sum, no one seemed concerned, and there was no effort to clean it up. While I've not seen the ants there in the past, every time I go in it looks like the floors need a good cleaning. We won't be going back. read more

I don't know why I'm so out of the loop with what's going on in Lincoln Park, but just like a restaurant across the street from here, I have NEVER heard of this place. I used to hang out in this area for three years straight for dance class and grad school and just totally overlooked it. It was founded in 1988, and I have no clue when it came to Chicago though so maybe I didn't. I just had a sweet tooth after leaving Blue Sushi across the street (and didn't realize they had a dessert menu). I could not care less about cake, donuts or pie, but I can demolish ice cream and/or candy like nobody's business. The problem is, as a second-round vegan, it's tough for me to find nondairy desserts. I poked my head in here 99.9% sure they were going to say everything was dairy. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they had a new Silk chocolate almond milk ice cream. I wish I caught the lady's name that was there today because she was so bubbly and friendly. When I stared at her in confusion after she asked me did I want "Like it, Love It or Gotta Have It," I realized this order was about to be involved. I like the way that the employees mix your toppings around in the ice cream instead of dumping them on top where you end up eating them way too fast. A family member stopped to take my pic while I tasted a spoonful, and I guess I looked extra happy because I caught the lady behind the counter smile as big as I did. Happiness is contagious. Anyway, love the place. Love my almond milk frozen dessert. There's only one table to sit at and someone was there, so I flopped down on a nearby bench and enjoyed my birthday sweet! read more

We have given this Coldstone location so many chances, but think we have finally reached the last straw. Service has always been poor, cleanliness questionable, but now the ice cream also sucks. We stopped in a month ago and sampled several flavors as they looked very iced over, and they were in fact inedible. We just left without ordering. We door dashed an order tonight, thinking certainly this issue would have been resolved. But unfortunately the order that arrived had incredibly icy ice cream. So disappointing! read more

Unfortunately, the store is small, cramped, and probably gets more online orders than it can handle. The best part of Cold Stone is being able to choose a base flavor, then add in additional toppings/ingredients, which a staff will mash and mix up. In a cramped space, that means there's a limited number of employees at a limited number of mixing stations, working on orders that take time to put together. Long story short, expect a wait. I've never ordered one of their signature ice creams (with 3 mix ins) because they're so expensive. But we were celebrating so I gave the summer cheesecake a try. This is a waffle cone with cheesecake ice cream, gram cracker crust , strawberries and blueberries. The flavor was great l, but for $6, I can go to a truly boutique ice cream shop like Jeni's and get three mini scoops of fresh made ice cream with better ingredients. Also, the strawberries and blueberries weren't fresh. They had that awful syrup on them. We did not have a positive experience today, 9/12 around 1:30pm. I had been coming here for years but will not return. The workers were not friendly. No cones available for purchase. We ordered love its and the dishes were 2/3 or 3/4 full and used a small amount of mix-ins. The worker slammed our drippy ice creams on the counter. I know everyone has hard days and that these continue to be trying times. However, we were friendly (I think!) and were the only customers in the store. The place is clean and the service is prompt and friendly. There are only two tables in side and only a few chairs so seating is extremely limited. They do have picnic tables out front but that only helps when the weather is nice. I'm not a big fan of their ice cream. It melts quickly and just isn't all that great. That being said they have a huge amount of toppings and creative combinations along with allowing their customers to make up their own combinations. Additionally their milkshakes are pretty decent. I would recommend they turn their music down though. When we went in earlier today it was blasting so loud that even after I took my hearing aid out I could hear it just fine. So, if you are on the go and just want to grab something on the way this is a good option though as I mentioned I'd recommend their milkshakes over their ice cream. read more

Yes, like the most recent reviews, the ice cream was melted from a broken freezer. and they had to get it from the back. So what, things happen. BUT 1. The employee did not mix or crush up the ingredients. I just received a blob of icecream with whole pieces of a pretzel and blobs of peanut butter not even mixed together with the ice cream just in there. Maybe she was under a lot of stress from they poor circumstance that they had to be forced to work under with a broken freezer. 2. The chocolate ice cream had zero flavor. Ordered online for pickup at 841. Got there 15 min after that. They didn't start it yet. There excuse was there were a lot of online orders. Isn't that the purpose of online ordering? Don't order online. Not worth the wait. There were only 2 people actually waiting that didn't order before. There were 4 parties who were in the same situation where they ordered online and were waiting for orders. My recommendation is don't order online for pickup if this is an "estimate" and don't go there if you worry about the wait. Bottom line. Don't go there unless you like the wait. There are other places you can get ice cream/dessert. Hopefully Andy's comes back/custard. read more
