I went with a friend yesterday for their soup /1/2 sandwich special. The tomato bisque was delicious and so was the chicken sandwich. The service was a little slow but the owner was there alone while his wife was out getting supplies. The service was excellent though. We even got a bit of fruit along with the meal. read more

We really love the tasty yogurt and wholesome vibes of YoFresh in Evanston. Never really asked, but you can definitely tell that it's family owned and operated, & the kindest gentleman (and possibly owner) has been working the counter many times that we've visited. The walls are covered with pictures of customers and family members, and there is plenty of comfy seating throughout the space. There are lots of yummy choices of yogurt and toppings, and there's a whole food menu that we've yet to try. I've been looking for a place to hangout in Evanston in a non-pretentious way and also not end up smelling like a pot of freshly roasted coffee. FroYo is fun, lots of board games, I could definitely spend some time here taking in the nice sound track, playing some games and devouring some fro-yo. My kids loved the place as we played a "quick" game of Jenga...(umm how about not pulling two pieces on the same row). - took longer to setup than play! Free WiFi and snacks like pizza. Good for studying / reading to pass the time away for sure! Whenever I'm in Evanston - I'll definitely need to come back! I came here on a Saturday afternoon for a smoothie and to read over some work. The entire back of the store had been turned into a kids bookclub event, so I found myself at one of the bistro tables in the front that had a cold breeze every time someone opened the door. I waited in line behind another group for nearly 10 minutes before I ordered. The three workers seemed overwhelmed by the book club's orders. While waiting and growing increasingly annoyed, I thought about leaving to go to Dollop Coffee down the street, but decided to stay because it's a local business that clearly has a lot of Evanston pride (look at all the pictures on their walls!) and because I had a 20% off deal through yelp. Once I finally ordered the Bahama Mama smoothie it came out pretty quickly. The "smoothie" turned out to be a milkshake made with the froyo they sell which wasn't what I was necessarily expecting. Nevertheless, it was good and I was happy that I had gotten a workout in earlier. Next to me, a couple ordered food (beef hot dog and soups) and drinks and were raving about both. As their discussion turned to their relationship issues, I was incapable of tuning them out and with nowhere else to sit I had to leave early. Even though this wasn't the best experience, I'll probably be back to try it again at a time when they are less busy. I was really hoping to get that triple shot for a good deal but I got let down when Antoinette examined that there was no ground coffee/espresso. I believe that. Antoinette asked is there anything else you want, I respond with, refund. She gives me back the original amount and hesitated to give me the tip, which I had to unfortunately ask for. This restaurant (it is much more than yogurt) is an Evanston treasure -- as are the owners Jean and Larry Murphy. The food is very good. Our family particularly loves their homemade chili and soups. Their sandwiches and salads are good as is their pizza. For dessert -- of course the yogurt is great and they have a wide variety of toppings. They also have outstanding homemade brownies (Mr. Larry's recipe) and yummy lemon bars. This is a great spot for families -- a frequent spot for our family after games and activities and also to meet-up with friends (they have games and books for the kids to keep them busy) and to meet up if you have a small book club or meeting. The owners of this shop are so lovely and so community-minded. The games for kids, the photos of Evanston folks all over the walls, the self-serve yogurt: they all create a welcoming atmosphere for families or walk-ins or whoever happens by. The yogurt can get expensive quickly (especially if you have kids whose eyes are bigger than their stomachs!), but the hot dogs, pizza, and other menu items are priced affordably. The Murphys are some of the kindest and most hospitable people I've encountered. We already love this place for selfish reasons--and as a bonus, we get to support local Black business owners and lifetime Evanstonians. read more

I attended a private event here last night and prior to this I didn't even realize this place was here! I am thrilled, because my daughter and I love froyo, and this is a great location in the strip mall in South Evanston by the big Walgreens, with a parking lot for convenience. There's a nice variety of flavors in the self-service machines along the wall and good toppings to choose from, at very reasonable prices. They also serve coffee, tea, and unlike other froyo places in the area, they have food! A whole menu of choices! We were impressed with the set up. There are comfortable chairs and other seating, board games, nice pictures on the wall, magazines, and an overall welcoming and comfortable vibe. Definitely a place I can see us coming to, often. The owners were very friendly as well. Plus being a small business, I would much rather support them than a chain. I'm so happy we found it and I cannot wait to return! read more

We've been meaning to go to Yofresh for too long and finally made it in last night (11/19/17). This place is fresh, yo! Sorry, couldn't resist. It's really awesome though! Yofresh is a local family-owned self serve fro-yo shop with comfortable seating, a great atmosphere, games, books and good music. The selection of fro-yo is more than sufficient and there was even a dairy-free option available - yea for me! The fro-yo was creamy and the toppings were plentiful. There were multiple other food offerings as well that we intend to come back and try. We very happily hung out in fro-yo shop perfection playing Connect-Four and eating a delicious dessert. 4-Stars though?!? Wha? Didn't I just say all great stuff?? Well, service was pretty awful. The employee behind the counter spent the majority of the time we were there talking loudly on the phone. At one point, a woman waited nearly 10 minutes to pay for her fro-yo while said employee was outside on the phone arguing with someone about buying shoes. The woman was about to leave when he spotted her and rang her up while still on the phone. C'mon now. Get off the phone. You are at work, not in your living room. After awhile, my husband and I were stifling laughter at how bad this man was at his job, but it's really not funny to the bottom line of the owners (assuming he isn't one). Too many customers chose not to stay and enjoy the atmosphere because of the behavior of the employee working. This is a fantastic little gem of a shop and we fully intend to make it a regular destination. I'm hoping the owners see this (and the accompanying photo of their employee outside with an annoyed customer at the counter) and make some adjustments. read more

Yofresh is all natural nonfat and kosher certified delicious frozen yogurt. Some of my favorites include blackberry, white chocolate and luscious lemon. They have waffle cones, pretzel cones and toppings - lots of toppings. That's really how I eat my fruits in the summer. I was actually craving ice cream the day I went in but this place was close to my house and had such great reviews, I figured I'd give it a try :) I'm so glad I did! I guess I looked lost because the owner helped me figure it all out. She was really helpful and gave me a few taste tester cups so I could try some flavors.
