Luckily, I don't have to drive to Philadelphia to get my hot pretzels. I go right over to The Pretzel Bakery in Cabin John Shopping Center. So, when I get a craving for a delicious hot pretzel I just stop by the bakery. I walked in and was greeted right away. The lady who helped me was so nice. She was just finishing up with a customer and she told me it would just be a minute. She was right...she took my order and in 2 minutes I was out the door with my hot pretzel and mustard. It was soft, pillowy, and full of flavor. The Pretzel Bakery is a small bakery, but has counter seats available at the window incase you want to enjoy your pretzel there. It is a lovely little bakery and I am thrilled to have them close by. Thank you Pretzel Bakery.

You'll need two slices of seeded or marble rye bread, about six ounces of thinly sliced corned beef or pastrami, two slices of sharp Swiss cheese, roughly a quarter cup of well-drained sauerkraut, and two tablespoons of Russian or Thousand Island dressing. A little butter for toasting the bread and optional spicy brown mustard round it out. That said, what I actually received was the absolute worst Reuben I've ever had in my entire life. They used ham instead of corned beef or pastrami, an insult to the name. The Swiss was bland and low-quality, not sharp at all. There was no mustard, barely any Thousand Island, and I couldn't even detect any sauerkraut. The bread wasn't toasted, and they still charged me $12.50 with tax. If this is what passes for a Reuben at a supposed German delicatessen, save your money and go somewhere that actually knows what they're doing.

However, the customer service has improved over the years as the owners have recruited students from local schools to run the registers and order fulfillment operations. This has been a beneficial business tactic as the added, friendlier employees improved the customer service experience. The fact that these workers are local, they are able to better connect with the customers which over the years there has been a conspicuous disconnect between the two. At Lydianne's, all of the pretzels are made on site and within eyesight of the cash register, so when they are busy you should expect longer wait times as they replenish their freshly baked goods. It is a pleasant experience to observe their pretzel-making process from start to finish. One thing to note is there are two service lines at Lydianne's; it is understandable for some to think there is only one line which is the one you see immediately to the right upon entering the market.
