I decided to try this bakery when in K-Town. The onion bread was delish and the cupcakes were good (Red Velvet was a bit dry but other than that - all is good). Def going back to buy some more bread.

Beautiful pastries, anytime I bring them to a potluck they disappear faster than my paycheck. Take all my money.

If heaven had a bakery, this would be it. And I'm not just saying that because I blacked out from sugar overload and briefly saw a light. Potomac Sweets is a treasure trove of baked beauty, nestled quietly in a corner that clearly doesn't shout, "HERE LIES PERFECTION"--but it absolutely should. I stumbled in thinking I might grab a cookie or two. I left with three bags, a cupcake, a box of éclairs, and the early signs of a joyful sugar addiction. No regrets. Let's talk cookies first, because these folks don't play around. There's a wall--yes, an actual wall--of lovingly packaged Potomac Sweets cookies that looks like a cookie-themed episode of "Hoarders," but in a good way. You've got pistachio, chocolate chip, powdered sugar bombs, butter cookies that crumble in your mouth like edible gold dust... I considered building a fort out of the bags. Still might. Then there's the pastry case, which basically looks like Versailles if the French had built it out of éclairs, opera cakes, mousse tarts, and cream puffs. Layers on layers of buttery, creamy, chocolatey goodness, all glistening under the lights like dessert jewelry. I made eye contact with a Napoleon slice and forgot my own name for a full 30 seconds. The cupcakes? Don't even get me started. Actually, do. Because these are not your supermarket, overly sweet, dry-muffin-wearing-a-wig cupcakes. No. These are gourmet cupcakes in fancy little parchment suits, wearing crowns of frosting and dotted with crunchy pearls like they're attending the Met Gala of baked goods. The red velvet one winked at me. I swear. And while sugar may be the star of the show here, don't sleep on the savory side. Yes, it exists. Yes, it's glorious. Their savory croissants are buttery, flaky miracles--like a French hug wrapped in golden pastry. Bottom line? If you've ever wanted to eat like a classy European tourist and a gleeful American sugar fiend at the same time, Potomac Sweets is your dream bakery. Bring a friend. Or don't. Just bring stretchy pants.

This is one of our top favorite bakeries of all time! Haven't had a bad sweet treat. Love their pastries, cookies and bread. The Philly Tomato Pie is also a favorite of ours. It was not crowded at all on a Sunday afternoon so we were helped quickly. there isn't space to dine so plan to take your treats home or elsewhere to enjoy. :)

Accidentally discovered this cute bakery while dining with a friend nearby. They had a lot of varieties to choose from and I settled on cranberry orange crumb cake. Not overtly sweet or heavy, just a right combination of all the ingredients.

Stumbled upon this pastry shop while driving around the neighborhood. I was immediately excited ! Love to support local shops and I do love desserts! I bought a variety if things because I wanted to tru as much as possible in hopes of loving it and returning for more. We bought: -cupcakes (vanilla and red velvet) -macarons (pistachio, vanilla and chocolate) -lemon shortbread cookies -small cake like pastries (can't remember the name) but we got raspberry, vanilla and chocolate -Cinnamon pull apart buns The good- the small cake like pastries were tasty. Small and sweet. The macarons were also tasty Cupcakes were ok. You can tell they're made from scratch despite the fact that they seemed to have been in the fridge a bit too long. The bad - The shortbread cookies had a rancid (sorry this is the only way I can describe this) smell. We couldn't eat them because that smell was so overpowering. Sticky cinnamon rolls. We were so excited to try these. Except they were rock hard and dry. Overall, our experience wasn't very good. Maybe it was the day we visited ? Or the time? (Late evening) I would be open to visiting again. Hoping that there's a bit more attention to these details !

I love this bakery so much! They have an unbelievably huge variety of delicious pastries. While I was waiting in line once I counted, and from my count there were over two hundred different varieties of pastries, cookies, cakes, pies, tarts, breads, cupcakes, macaron, biscotti, nougat, etc! The pastries are very high quality French style patisserie, the filled croissants are some of the best I've had. They make extremely beautiful and surprisingly affordable cakes and tarts, including incredibly yummy looking holiday options you can order ahead. The most surprising thing to me is the price, most pastries are only $3.50, whereas a pastry of the same quality elsewhere in town is almost double that price. They have fast, friendly service. I've tried probably twenty pastries from here, and the two of particular note are the chocolate croissant and pistachio croissant, which is like an almond croissant with pistachio paste inside. The filling is very flavorful, the pastry *extremely* crunchy (I get it toasted), and the sweetness just right. Their chocolate croissant is also by far and away the best I've had anywhere in Rockville, and I've had one from over two dozen gourmet bakeries in the area. They do not offer coffee or espresso drinks, which would be a lovely addition, but they have very limited space, so it's probably not practical. I appreciate they don't serve coffee if they don't think they could serve good coffee. Maybe just a hot water tap with fancy tea bags would be nice though. Very limited parking and floorspace inside the shop, so I recommend going during a less busy time of day. Plenty of parking around the corner. No cafe seating area or restroom, but there's a bench or two out front where you can sit on a nice day. It's a pretty quiet and nice place to sit. I would love if they could put even one tiny table with two chairs out front, but the space is very limited, so it may not be allowed by code. If code allowed, it would actually be cool if they converted the 3-4 parking spots into an outdoor seating area with tables with umbrellas, and did away with the parking there all together. I personally would walk from around the corner, then sit at a table outdoors to enjoy my pastry while it's still hot from the toaster oven.

So many choices, only one stomach. This bakery's predecessor was great, but Potomac Sweets is divine intervention. Currently in this COVID world they are only allowing three customers in at a time. There are so many sweets to peruse. I wanted everything. My first impulse was to buy a box of beignets, but did I really need four? I reminded myself about my one stomach, and stepped away. I bought a scone (I think it was cinnamon bun flavored). It had large chunks of pecans in it. Perfect compliment to my afternoon tea. I also bought a tried and true favorite - almond croissant. I had it for breakfast the next morning while it was not as flaky as some I've bought at other bakeries, it was packed with almond paste. I approve! My only problem now is deciding which pastries to order on my next visit.

From top: pumpkin pie, pecan pie, cherry pie

Great pies, perfect for the holidays! We enjoyed the pumpkin, pecan, and cherry pies. I wish the pecan pie was a little more moist, but it was still very good!

Petite sized little bakery in Wheaton Triangle…read more This is one of the small little shops on the perimeter of the brand new large office building that goes up where the large parking lot used to be. There's a handful of tables when you walk in, more seating then you'd probably think for a bakery of this size. The walls are lined with refrigerators and pastry cases. Some of the selection is self-service and then some sit in glass boxes that are more attuned to Jewelry cases. I went up to the front and saw a number of hand scrawled signed taped on the front refrigerators. The prices are insanely low. Tamales for $1.50 a piece are definitely worth your attention. The chicken sandwich that I tried for $3.00 was oddly out of this world. When it was set down on the table in front of me... I was like... "OK... this looks pretty basic." But then I tried it... and I was like... what the HELLO has been done to this chicken. As I commented to a friend: " I have no idea what they did to that chicken, but I'm pretty sure it involves wizards or MSG." It was freakin' good! I also ended up getting the Budin (I think this was $1.75) which is like this super soft raisin pudding cake thing with caramelized sugar on top. Man... that was good. The ONE thing I got and didn't love was the "pan con frijoles, queso, crema." There is a possibility that this is true cause I didn't eat it while it was hot. There is also a possibility that this is true cause the cashier/cook forgot the cheese and then gave it to me on a little plate later, and it didn't melt into anything. But for me it just was too gloopy... if you know what I mean. The bread it was served on was good... but the texture and saltiness was a little much. Overall, I will totally be back. Value for quality was fantastic. Also... just FYI. It would be VERY helpful to know a bit of Spanish when you do go. There was definitely a bit of a communication barrier with English.

I forget the name of the sandwich, but it had eggs, chorizo, plantains, and something else that I cannot remember. Although I was a bit surprised the sandwich was around 8 bucks, I understood why when the sandwich came out because it was HUGE. Put it like this, the sandwich kept me full for a good 4-5 hours, so it definitely was worth the eight dollars. While waiting for my sandwich, curiosity got the best of me, and I ended up buying a few pastries for later. The sandwich, coffee, and four large pastries were about $16. Overall, I thought my sandwich was absolutely delicious...especially the bread/roll that it was served on/with. Like I said earlier, the sandwich was jammed packed with eggs, chorizo and plantains. Throughout the weekend, I tasted the pastries, and I thought all of the were pretty delicious. Unfortunately, I do not know which pastries I purchased because many were not labeled. To be honestly, I completely picked the pastries at random. One of the things that I enjoyed about the pastries: none of them were overly sweet. For me, they had just the right amount of sweetness, which might be considered bland for others. The bakery is kind of small, in terms of dining in, because it has about 2-3 small tables. However, the bakery seems more like a place to grab food (or pick up orders) and go. While eating, I was the only one who actually ate their food inside of the restaurant. I thought the two women behind the counter were exceptionally nice. Also, interacting with them gave me a chance to practice my Spanish. Overall, I thought this was a great random find, and I'm looking forward to returning and trying some more of their delicious pastries and other platos fuertes.

Tuesday 1/21/25 I…read morerandomly found out about this spot a few months ago while on TikTok. I heard A LOT of high praise for it, so now I'm trying it. The service experience was quite memorable and funny. There were differences in language barriers, but we still made it work out in the end. I was overwhelmed, to say the least, as I was completely new to the experience of a Spanish bakery, so I got suggestions from the workers, Yelp & Google, and what caught my eye. I ended up spending $43.20 total and got: Brazo gitanos $2.75, torta $3, pan de pina $1, steak egg and cheese sandwich $10.75, tipico platter $14, flan $5.50, pork & cheese pupusa $2.75, and chicken & cheese pupusa $3.50. Also, I was excited to try the tres leches, but they didn't have any at the time. - The brazo gitanos is like a pound cake with a cherry/strawberry swirl, and it was alright. - The torta was my favorite bakery item as it tasted the best, and was elevated further when I warmed it up. - The pan de pina is a Spanish pastry with pineapple "jam" in the center, and it was alright. - The steak egg and cheese sandwich was my favorite item. The Spanish bread paired well with the ingredients to create a great flavor with every bite. - The tipico platter was decent, but I wish I had gotten more portions of the chorizo because the portion I got was limited. One thing that makes it truly amazing is combining all of the platter items on their homemade tortillas to create a sensational taco of taste and flavor. - I'm not a fan of flan (it's alright), but theirs was pretty decent. - The pupusas (pork & cheese and chicken & cheese) were great, and they might just be the best pupusas I've had. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at El Sabor. I would recommend it and be open to returning (maybe next time they will have tres leches available).
