Aunt Chiladas - Cheese Crisp - Mexican Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

First, the service is always excellent. We love the outdoor area--it's fun, comfortable, and really well set up. The flour tortilla chips are also a favorite. Where we had to deduct a couple of stars was the meat quality. The fajita beef didn't taste freshly prepared--it had a reheated texture and lack of flavor that took away from the dish. The chicken fundido was also inconsistent: some bites tasted fresh, while others had a noticeably "off" flavor that suggested it hadn't been cooked recently. It stood out against an otherwise great experience. Freshness is important. read more

I can't speak highly enough aboht Aunt Chiladas! As a visitor from out of town, I stopped by this restaurant with a friend a couple hours before our flight out of Phoenix. We were absolutely blown away by the beautiful decor, music, and vibes of the restaurant. The restaurant seems like it brings together the community - the staff was on a first name basis with several customers. We got to sit down with one of the owners, Michele Woods, who taught us so much about the history of the property dating back to even before Arizona had reached statehood. The food itself was absolutely delicious and the portions were large. My friend and I are both vegetarian and they not only had several options available on their menu but were also able to create things in the kitchen from scratch for us. Overall, I had an excellent time here and will definitely be returning next time I'm in town read more

I had a great experience here for dinner. The decor was fun and colorful! The waitress was very nice and took care of our large group of 8, even taking the time to split up our bill. The food was incredible, exactly what we needed after a long day of swimming across the street at the Hilton. The portions were large and most of us had leftovers. I ordered the traditional chicken burrito and it was fantastic. The chips and salsa were also amazing, hot and freshly made. I cannot recommend this place enough. read more

Fun decor and attentive service. The food is well presented with ample portions... we took food home for sure. Guacamole is delicious and they do not aim to spice up each dish... next time, I would order the pineapple shrimp, the enchiladas and a salad... to share. Come hungry. The group enjoyed Margaritas. read more

Been dining at Aunt Chilada's for many years. They have the best Margaritas ever. Chips and salsa are so delish! Service is always great and the ambiance is fantastic. read more

Disappointing. Food - We had the queso dip ($17) to start with but it looked like it had curdled, it was grainy & bland. My Baha fish taco was ok, I ordered rice & beans to go with it, the rice tasted a bit strange, and I've had better refried beans. The flour chips were good. Drinks - if you're going to charge $17 for a margarita then make it a good one, ( this wasn't) and if you're going to charge $11 for a can of Church Music then at least let the customer know in advance that it's in a 12oz can and not on tap. Service - ok, but no one asked how we were enjoying the meal especially since we didn't eat much of it. Ambiance- they have redecorated the place, it looks nicer now. I doubt if we will return any time soon. read more

Disappointed with food quality. Service was excellent. Hope that improvements are made as this was one of my favorite places.

Horrible don't let the cute facade fool you walked in to see hostess about seating preferred outside was told there were no seats available even though we saw at least two tables outside asked for first available was then told no seats once again. She then said we could sit at the open bar area so we did only to be ignored no one came to bring menus water or even take our drink order smh-do better aunt chiladas read more

I have never had a debate with a waitress about what I ordered and how I ordered my meal. My guest from out of town confirmed the way I ordered my meal. It was subtracting an item that normally comes on top of the burrito. The serve insisted that I scrape it off myself. If she were to return it to the kitchen, she would not be able to return it back to me since covid. . The server wanted me to pay for another meal to which my reply was, I just won't eat. My wife and I are still arguing about my being insistent on what I should or shouldn't eat. I'll not be going to this restaurant again. I have never been treated so badl. read more

Had lunch here yesterday and was one of the worst experiences ever. Their food has really gone downhill from what it used to be. The waitress was rude beyond belief and confrontational. Made for a very awkward lunch with guests we invited. Will never go back and will never recommend to anyone. read more

Bummed. We love riding our bikes to Aunt Chilada's for lunch--the food is always great. I made an Easter Sunday reservation several weeks ago, before they had posted their holiday menu. When we arrived, we were told the regular menu wasn't available--only a brunch buffet at $50 per person. For 7 adults (including 4 seniors), it came out to $430 with tip. The buffet itself was pretty underwhelming--burritos, eggs, fruit, overly fatty roast, and sliced ham. And no chips and salsa. Definitely not the experience we were expecting. read more

We were last there in January 2026 and it was as good as ever. The place was very crowded and noisy, as there was a big party in the other part of the room. Our server, Angel sat us away from that party near the fireplace and gave us exemplary attention. I enjoyed my usual the taco salad, while my husband had the seafood burrito, his usual go to. The food andm the experience did not disappoint. read more

Great food and always a fun visit. Service can be a little slow sometimes, but worth the wait!

Went on a Friday night for my dad's 70th birthday. I've been here several times in the last for lunch but it's been. While since I came in prime time. We were sat in less than 20 minutes even tho we have 7 people in our party. I tried something new the sour cream enchiladas and holy moly new favorite! The service got a bit slow towards the end but it's Friday night I get it. It was a 2.5 hour dining adventure from start to finish, we did have to pay for my dads birthday treat which was kind of odd but it's 2026 so maybe places don't comp for birthday treats anymore. I will say I like friend ice cream better without coconut but overall it was 7/10. read more

CERO STARTS FOR "Aunt Chiladas", passing bye we arrived to this place, yesterday Monday/July/20/2026. OLD and colorful outside this place. We found out it was Mexican Food?? Waitress so slow, poor Coustomer service, dirty place inside, finger printing in TV's and around. Bathrooms smelly like sewer and old thirty place. Tortillas cracked went you folded them to eat. COLD tortillas, COLD and CREASY FOOD.!!! Fajitas meat with peaces of crease on, the onion and bell peppers COLD CORN CHIPS, COLD, COLD and OLD, OLD flawers chips on top in the same plate and were warm and the CORN Tortillas COLD & OLD, both in same plate? My friend told you she doesn't eat CORN TORTILLAS AT ALL!!! The salsa COLD AND OLD. The waitress TOUCHED my tortillas with her BARE HANDS!!! that's why she said she will change them. A blonde lady brought me two tortillas and the cracked again when you folded them. She told me is the corn maybe. Worst than a fast food place!! She gave us a history, American Mexican place. They need to renovate it and clean it first in order to operate to the public. Food with no taste, refrigerated and old for days the salsa, nothing fresh. I called the place to request a waitress because nobody was taking care of us for a long time. The cooks look no presentable with greasy face and standing up and no cooking at the kitchen. We couldn't even eat the desert there. We tried to get out of there ASAP. A house on the drive way dangerous to walk there. COLD and GREASY FOOD!!! SO DISAPPOINTED!!! :/ :/ :/ :/ :/ :/ :/ :/ :/ :/ read more

Food is the best. Atmosphere is fun and service is great. We go there a lot. Love the place.

Quickly seated on a Thursdsy without reservations at 6 for party of 2. Flour chips and salsa were a great start. Brought out spicy hot sauce to add to salsa for the perfect heat, plus order if quacamole. Chili relleno with green sauce, side of blackbeans and rice was covered in cheese. Black bean burrito with refried beans and Spanish rice was so large 1/2 went for breakfast. Will return. Band playing inside bar was good, and sitting in dining room off the outside bar made for easy listening while still having conversation. read more

one of my favorite patios in arizona, especially after hiking piestewa mountain. great for large groups! we went on a friday night & they had live music & dancing inside that you could hear from the patio. it was so busy but they were able to accommodate our large group with 20 minute wait. the food is mid though. my drink was so sweet, tasted just like watermelon juice instead of being spicy & my fajitas didn't sizzle ),: but the portion sizes are huge & the staff did a great job for how busy it was. only 1 check per table. read more

Always the best food and the staff is so friendly. It had a great atmosphere as well.

I don't understand how this place has so many reviewers saying the food was "phenomenal". The food was low grade, no flavor with minimal seasoning. You can't even call it Mexican food because that would be an insult to Mexicans. My table of 8 people, and not one person was satisfied. The only reason I gave more than one star is because the waiter was amazing, patient and super friendly. Would def not come back. read more

The best tamale and seafood enchiladas I've ever had. What a beautiful building, amazing staff, and great margaritas. Tiffany gave us a little tour because I'm originally from her dad's home town. It was so sweet of her to take time out of her busy day. Will definitely return next time I'm in Phoenix. Wish I had taken pictures of the fantastic food. read more

Fun, old school Mexican restaurant! Delicious food, great service! I had the fajitas and they were so good. Yummy tortillas!

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would!!! I came in planning to order chicken fajitas, and my family ordered a bowl of corn to share. While everyone was grabbing some, I put mine on a plate. As soon as I started eating, I found a BLONDE strand of hair in my food absolutely disgusting. It completely ruined my appetite for the entire day . The waitress was super nice, but that alone doesn't make up for the experience. Definitely will not be coming back. read more

Aunt Chilada's Dreamy Draw location offers a charming blend of historic ambiance and a lively patio setting ideal for groups or casual evenings . The food is some of the best in the Valley. Ok so I wanted to post this review as I tried to remove my last review in place of my review July 14, 2025. I had the opportunity to go back to Aunt Chiladas and the food was really great again. We are having our seminar there as we have for sevral years, spoke to the owner and must have been an off night. Anyway this has all been handled and the food was great today along with the Ambiance. Thank you Aunt Chiladas and yes I will always reach out to you in the event some thing is off. read more

Very good authentic Mexican cuisine, ambiance and service. Greeted warmly by the manager/ owner. We will definitely be going back. Highly recommended! Aunt Chilada's is located at the base of Piestewa Peak in Phoenix, and has a rich history that dates back to the 1890s. Originally, the building served as a general store for miners (not minors) working in the nearby Rio Rico mines, where they extracted cinnabar, an ore used to produce mercury. The miners, often affected by the fumes, would walk to the store in a somewhat "dreamy" state, which contributed to the area's name, Dreamy Draw. read more

I ordered the Pollo Fundido last night, it looked good but when I cut into it not even barely warm. As far as flavor I've had much better. The salsa had little flavor and the chips were over fried and tasted burnt. The refried beans were very very thin and little flavor. This is not the first time I have been disappointed when eating there so not sure if we will give them another try. read more

The drinks were great and food was pretty good except for the taco salad which was tasteless and had very little beef. When I sent back the salad they initially only refunded 1/2 but eventually took it off the bill. So I will still come back. Great service and atmosphere. read more

wow! the ambiance of AuntChiladas is wonderful - especially outside seating! Tables outside are spaced perfectly and a big plus is well behaved dogs are allowed! There is the perfect amount of flora and fauna; lighting is perfect for an intimate nighttime meal but if you actually want to see what you're eating, not so much; the waitstaff is attentive and friendly; the chips and salsa are divine; the Margaritas perfect BUT it ends there. I ordered a chimichanga with everything but the meat and red sauce (green sauce made with pork) and all I can say is YUK! I think the red sauce possibly was the leading culprit and the pasty refried beans with zero spice detected other than the horrible red sauce is second culprit. I literally had maybe two bites and couldn't eat more because it was terrible! I will return for the chips, salsa and margaritas but will pass on the entree. read more

Good food, good service and great atmosphere. It's one of my favorite spots in Phoenix with a lot of good memories over the years.

Cute restaurant. Had a large party of 14. They did great accommodating us. Fun fact Wednesday nights they have trivia. Very large and spacious and kind of tucked away in a cute little neighborhood. The inside is a bit packed and can make it hard to converse with those around you. Several outdoor patio areas, which is a bit more relaxing with some mellow music in the background. Bartenders were great and so were the servers. Great place for happy hour or night out with family and friends. read more
