Doctor Shah spent 1.5 hours with me on my first office visit, treated me as an individual (not an age), and listened attentively to the pain, suffering, and frustration I was going thru. Let me go through each of the following: +Dr. Shah: Dr. Shah is really cool; he introduced himself to me as Dr. Jay, and we are from the same home town, age, and have a similar life background in terms of moving around from the Bay to LA! But most of all, the best thing was that he ordered multiple tests to help me get to the bottom of my abdominal issues that I have been struggling with for more than half my life! After going to the ER a few times and finding nothing major in my CT scan, I was worried he would dismiss my stomach issues, BUT he did the opposite thing and helped me with diagnosing multiple potential problems. I experienced no wait (I was even seen EARLY). WOW. Everything was prompt, efficient, and thoroughly explained! I also appreciated how I received discharge papers with such details documented and on my labwork, there were even specific instructions on what I should avoid taking before the bloodwork. I was also told in detail about fasting. My previous provider did not do that! Overall, it has been a wonderful experience so far with this provider and clinic! It's my first time here, I try to get to the location and due to some insurance mishaps my appt location and time had been changed a few times. I arrived to the Crossroads location and quickly found out I arrived to the wrong one. Rushed over and even CALLED the front desk to let them know I was arriving late as a courtesy. As I walk in the front girl screening the appt just started repeating over and over how I was late and the tone was just annoyed right off the bat. Even another lady trying to come in was given attitude so quick too, but watched her as she picked and chose who to be nice to when walking in and out. ON TOP OF HAVING A WHOLE CONVERSATION ON HER CELLPHONE IN THE LOBBY out loud in front of us. Luckily they took me. When I'm out of my prescriptions and need a refill, I call on the phone and speak with Maria. Most doctors would have you come in to see you just to get that extra fee, even if you've just seen them recently. But less than a minute on the phone and 5 minutes later, my refills have been requested and sent to the pharmacy. Thank you to Dr. Narvasa, Maria and her wonderful staff for making me feel like family when visiting the clinic and making a call to request for refills. I know I've called more than my fair share for requests. Not only do I feel like I'm getting the best care, but I see that the doctor always keeps up to date on the latest medicine as she goes to conventions and seminars. OK, I guess after being a patient here for over 3 years, it's time for a review! LOL. I'm chuckling at Melissa's review, b/c I think it just goes to show you can't please everybody. I've been VERY pleased with my experience with Dr. Lai. Melissa's experience is intriguing, because I actually had the opposite experience, where my wait was longer than expected, as well as my appointment. I imagine there are times the doctors get behind because of their desire to answer questions and then the staff have to help keep the schedule and folks experience what Melissa did. So I guess it's incredibly hard to strike a balance between the two of us, especially with a practice as packed as Renovi. Overall, I love Dr. Lai's approach (I've not ever seen Dr. Wang, although I hear he is excellent too). It is holistic, but grounded in science (she is board certified in Family Medicine, but also certified in Integrative Medicine). Before I moved to Glendora, I had an excellent doctor who integrated had a similar approach and I languished for a couple years until Dr. Lai moved to Glendora. When I discovered her, I was thrilled and grateful! I like that I don't have to strip down unnecessarily every time you go in (which, sociologically, reinforces the idea that doctors are the authority figure and they have all the answers, which you should never question). Her diagnoses have been spot on and have helped me greatly in a physically turbulent stage of life without a lot of invasive treatments or pharmalogical assistance or reliance. What would've been prescribed antidepressants in a standard office was effectively resolved with a cream and a few vitamin supplements. She has been caring, flexible and takes my questions seriously. Some may find some of Renovi's procedures quirky or unconventional (I do find the office layout a bit cluttered at times and the walkie-talkies can be distracting--darn Yelp's inability to do half stars, because they really should get a 4.5, not a 4). However, I think part of what makes Renovi excellent is their willingness to think outside of the box, in a healthy and productive way, when it comes to healthcare. I care a lot more about how my body and my health are taken care of than what the office decor is or anything else. If you can be courageous enough to break out of the standard mindset of what medicine should be and looks like, you will be rewarded with excellent care. P.S. This is the Glendora office, which recently opened in a fantastically convenient location next to the AMC theater and 24 Hour Fitness...which may also explain them working out some kinks in the office.
