Food was 5* and the service was great until the crowd let out and we were 30 minutes from close. Then they were moving tables loudly around us. We were still fine but then the entire staff seemed to congregate and speak loudly as if the restaurant was closed and they were only amongst themselves. You gotta know that with young guests (with young kids in tow) that talk about cheating and affairs loudly is completely inappropriate. Excellent restaurant for any meal of the day. Love their breakfast the most. They make most everything themselves from the ketchup to the jams. Their scones are amazing. Bacon incredible. My only bit of grief is the lack of effective ventilation so you leave smelling like the kitchen fryer. Definitely worth your time and $$$. read more

This restaurant is great ! The menu is upscale bistro style with something for everyone. August features local meats, vegetables , wines and beers for your dining enjoyment . We came here on our way over to the US. Food was amazing - we had the tapas menu so we could try everything. Service was quick, food came relatively quickly and was all homemade (minus the cheese on the charcuterie board). Went here for lunch last Saturday. I've been a few times before and not written a review; but I was pleasantly surprised with the updates they've made to the dining room. It feels a lot cozier and the art work is colourful and interesting. That really added to the lunch experience. My friend had the chicken vegetable soup and omelette which she said was good, but she wasn't raving about it. I had the chicken wrap which was really good partly because the wrap was multi-grain and just one layer around the filling ... none of those doughy wraps that have multiple layers and a big chunk at the end. I have been here many times and found the food to be very good and well priced. However I was disappointed by the lack of diplomacy from one of the waitresses. Their air conditioning was broken but there was a ceiling fan close by. My friend kindly let her know that the fan was rotating the wrong way. The waitress said Well I'm not changing it. What a find! While passing through the area we decided to trust Yelp recommendations and got off the QEW to check out August Restaurant. It has an upscale bistro feel, comfortable and not at all stuffy. The food was amazing! My husband had the Fresh Herb Gnocchi with Wild Boar Bacon -- my only hope is that this particular dish remains on the menu until our next trip to the area so I can order it myself. One bite and I was hooked -- the various flavors melded beautifully. My Italian husband said that it was the lightest gnocchi he has ever had. I ordered the Baked Seafood ThermiDdor, which was a delicious, creamy combination of shrimp, scallops and crab in puff pastry. Prices were fairly reasonable, particularly considering the food quality and creativity. We most definitely will make this a regular stop while traveling through the area! read more

Actually, I'd give this restaurant four-and-half or four-and-three quarters stars if Yelp gave that option. It would be a full five if not for the decor. But we didn't go there for the decor. The food was outstanding and the service excellent. We started with The Crispy Duck Rolls appetizer, the flavour of which almost made our heads explode. We've never had duck rolls before and therefore have no other with which to compare, however these were beyond scrumptious! My husband had rack of lamb for his entree and said he'd never had better. I had the fish stew and OMG was it good! I couldn't identify all the ingredients in the sauce but it was like a subtle curry. I'll be dreaming about that taste for weeks! The only reason I am giving this restaurant a two star rating is because the food is AMAZING. Absolutely stunning dishes. I've had a number of their dishes and loved each one. Now... you're probably thinking, why the two star rating then? Out of the five times I've been there with my husband, guess how many tines I've had terrible, rude service? Four out of five times. FOUR. The last time we were there, we brought friends with us who had never been. Sure enough, the waitress acted like it was the bane of her existence to have to serve us. The couple we were with pointed it out before I even said anything. So, since we had had bad service there a few other times, I decided to call after our experience. The manager basically shrugged me off. "I really don't have a clue. Everyone here is so nice". I called to give you a heads up, buddy. Anyways, it's really too bad since the food is OUTSTANDING. To sum up, if you can put up with servers treating you like they'd rather be anywhere but serving you, try it out. If not, trust me, this is not the place for you. read more

We were not impressed by the outside of this restaurant-but do not let it to scare you away :-) we ordered cheese charcuterie plates-very nice made only either inside the place or bought from local producers. On Sunday they had specials for 17-19 that included large portion of meat-we took beef brisket and ribs-both amazing, with choice of 2 sides. We took hush puppies, vegetables-which also had pecans and pumpkin, pulled pork-as a side. Everything had unique flavour with some southern soul food influence. I had a lovely time on a recent wine tour with my friends and we came here for lunch. The waiter was super friendly and funny while customer service was a number one priority. I ordered the recommended pork soup of the day which was delicious and their Reuben sandwich minus the cheese. The sammy was truly delicious and one of the best corned beef sandwiches I've had and better than the last few times I went to Montreal.
