Wow!!! Really impressed. The staff was incredible and so attentive. It was a freezing winter day but the dining room was so cozy. The espresso martini is a must-order. All the food was very tasty. The focaccia came with a scallion oil which was fun. The octopus was so delicious I didn't even have time to take a photo!!! I loved the beef short rib. We also ordered a creme brûlée. We have friends who live in Lincoln and basically live at or off delivery from here so after all their pics we finally decided to go and SO GLAD WE DID! You know when you almost don't want to write a review bc your local spot may blow up? This is that The food was Sooooo soooo good. Just fresh and flavourful and seasonal and not fancy for no reason (I think I want to say pretentious?). It's rustic but not sloppy or low end. Definitely on par with any winery or fancy inn restaurants in the area! The service was friendly and accommodating (hubby is allergic to tomatoes which usually makes Italian food an issue-- And it wasn't!) and the atmosphere is comfortable and then BAM seriously delicious food arrives. We found this little Italian place on the way back to Toronto from Niagra Falls for lunch. The food was excellent. We started with the meatball appetizer that had 4 meatballs and my husband and I ate 2 each. They were a perfect combination of pork and beef, in a fresh tomato sauce and just enough mozzarella. My husband got the Spaghetti Puttanesca, which is a very simple dish but hard to perfect. He raved about it and swore the chef was from Italy. Turns out he's a local boy. I had a Caesar salad with baby kale. Each leaf was coated in Parmesan and dressing. Great place with exceptional attention to detail and fresh ingredients. We'd return again and again if we were local. read more

Very not waitress but the service were very slow and not fast enough for my liking I had to wait a very long time for a table

I'm going to start off my saying my boyfriend and I are homey good food kind of people. Food with edible flowers and moss need not apply. Starting with drinks, the strawberry soda fulfilled all my wildest dreams of a strawberry lemonade type concoction. While for some people this drink may seem very sour, my whole lemon eating self loved it. My boyfriend got a beer, and beer on a hot summer day on a patio is always good. We got the Ontario Asparagus and Calamari Alla Griglia as appetizers. The Ontario Asparagus was a winner for me, my boyfriend said there is too much lemon on it. The Calamari were okay, I'm not sure if the grill was on very high that day but there was a strong charred flavour to them even though they were well prepared and soft. If you like strong flavours of burnt wood and smokiness then the calamari is for you. For the main my boyfriend got the fish of the day. He inquired with the waitress if it was a whole fish, because he just really wanted a whole fish - the waitress said yes but he was brought a little fish cut on a bed of undercooked potatoes. This part of the meal for him was not the best and that is the reason for 4 stars. I got the Vitello and it was a huge piece of juicy meat with some asparagus and mashed potatoes. If you are feeling carnivorous then this is the way to go, the meat was done to my liking and it was a giant piece that I could share with my unimpressed partner. We didn't get dessert but opted for an espresso and cappuccino. The capuccinno was cafe au lait, but what do I know, maybe it was their version of a capuccinno. In any case, if you're looking for good portion sizes and home cooking then you'll find Just Cooking fits the bill nicely. read more

The changes in Just Cooking are not good. The menu changes provide much less variety and the prices are higher. The old menu was much better!!! The old wine list provided 6 oz, 9oz or bottle with lots of variety and at reasonable prices. Now the new wine list has only 6 oz of full bottle and the bottles are $48 each. The new wine list is NOT reasonable or good. Sorry guys but you were way better before. Will not be coming back. We will be trying some other local restaurants. Nice Place. Rustic Italian. Had a few features here. Salmon was done to perfection. Pan seared and season very well. The pasta was done well. Excellent wine selection and the Long weekend - white was a great choice. You have to be careful you can drive by this place without noticing. Service is OK. Need a bit more coordination with food and delivery. Staff is very friendly. Price is OK, a bit expensive for what your getting. read more

We went in July, 2018. The cozy and intimate atmosphere. Inside is so cozy, that I thought it can be so loud at times. We sat on the patio, and it was nice. The food was excellent. Calamari, pasta, bread, they were all delicious. Giving only 4 stars, instead of 5, only because they only had bottled beers. No draughts. The service was very good, too. We had a great experience at Just Cooking. First I'd like to say that there are not a lot of nice restaurants in the area so this was an especially lucky find. We had a very annoying experience at the Lake House; they wouldn't take reservations before 6:30pm and we were taking my mother-in-law out for her 80th birthday. She likes to eat early. We wasted a lot of time getting over to the Lake House and by the time we got there, they didn't have any room. It was a total waste of time and very annoying after we had just called them. We felt extra lucky to find Just Cooking. The staff welcomed us and everyone was very friendly. The ambience was really nice. It's a great nice restaurant without being stiff. We considered going to Inn on the Twenty, as an alternative, but we knew it would be too stiff and uptight for my mother-in-law. Just Cooking was the perfect balance of nice and personable. My husband and I each had Ceasar salads which were nice. My mother-in-law had a nice butternut squash and fennel soup that she liked. They brought very nice, fresh foccacia to the table along with a fresh herb olive oil. I wish I could have had more of the olive oil but I knew I'd be too stuffed. It was really tasty. Then we each had pasta dishes. I had the gnocchi, my husband had a spicy Italian sausage something or other, and my mother-in-law had the mushroom. They were all great. I love gnocchi and this was very good. Extremely creamy, so it was heavy, but it was nice. I'm in love with the gnocchi dish at N'ata Costa in St. Catharines which is one of the best gnocchis I've ever had so this wasn't quite as good as that, but it was tasty. The next time I'll have the mushroom penne that my mother-in-law had which looked and smelled awesome. There's also an eggplant dish that looked great. (I'm vegetarian.) They also had a nice wine list. We each had a different kind of wine, to suit each of our tastes. We didn't have dessert since we had a cake waiting at home, but the desserts looked nice too. The location is easy to miss and parking in the rear makes the size of the place very deceiving. You will definitely want to make a point to stop here but make a reservation. Once inside you will find the best Italian food in Niagara, hands down! The food was fresh, cooked to perfection and very well portioned. The complimenting flavours of the dishes were well thought out. The service was another bright spot. Very friendly and knowledgable wait staff who know both the food and the wine. Our waiter knew just how to make us feel like we were the only table in the place. We wanted for nothing. Make sure you come hungry and save room for desert. This was the most amazing Italian food I had in a while and I like to think of myself as a foodie. The flavour profiles were amazing and the prices for a fine dining restaurant in this region were totally reasonable. Personally I like this better than Treadwell which used to be interesting but now got boring. We ordered the caprese salad and the Del Giorgio for appetizers and both were a total wow. For the main dishes we had the eggplant parmigiana and the linguine puttanesca and I was extremely impressed usually I find my pasta choices bland and uninteresting and requiring all sorts of additions but this was perfect. The wine menu was also great and the service was impeccable. Definitely a 5 star and reasonably priced too. Oh and last but not least they have a great patio and u are sitting in a lovely romantic surroundings which is a huge thing- so many restaurants like to stuff as many ppl as they can in, sort of like sardines in a can read more

Before my meal started, they gave me a complimentary foccawsia bread in a delicious green oil dipping sauce. It was super tasty. I would have asked for more but i didn't want to look cheap. For my main course i ordered a linguine with olives anchovies in a spicy tomato sauce. It was also super tasty, not oily and flavourful. They offered huge chunks of shaved parmesan on top which i appreciated! Most places sprinkle little parmesan flakes and keep staring at you like you are bankrupting them. Overall its one of the best Italian restaurants I've eaten at in a long time (besides my pasta fest in Italy). Last but not least the woman bathroom was clean! There was plenty of products for you to use on the counter. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone! The service is also quick. read more

I was here Sat. Night for an anniversary dinner. Place was busy but not packed. We were served our entree, then waiter disappeared. We asked another waitress for dessert menu which she brought. We waited 10 minutes before yet another waitress took our order. We waited 20 minutes more, still no dessert. If I had the nerve I would have walked right out. Went to front cash to pay our bill which for 3 people was $175 , the girl who we paid apologized but did not offer us 10 percent off or a free dessert or anything. This is an example of terrible customer service. They definitely need lessons for their wait staff as well. We were basically ignored for the later part of our meal. I would never reccomnend this place to anyone and will be sure to tell my circle of friends as well. read more
