We came here on a Saturday afternoon right at opening and the space was pretty full - a majority of tables around us filled up within an hour of us sitting down so the space got lively pretty quickly. We originally wanted to come because of the AYCE dimsum, but we were pretty disappointed by the selection - it definitely was less than we thought it would be and the quality also left a lot to be desired. They really only had like 7-10 dishes in the dimsum selection and were missing key things like rice noodle rolls and turnip cakes. The sushi was solid I think, your typical buffet quality, but the variety there was also less than I thought it'd be. We nonetheless got a ton of food for the four of us to share and were very full at the end. The service was really solid - probably one of the best I've ever experienced for a buffet. The ordering system was very efficient, although a little confusing user interface wise, but we got our food within minutes of ordering and our waiter was also pretty attentive and friendly. They even have a robot that we saw serving food and drinks sometimes - definitely really good technology for the staff! Overall, I'd say that if you're looking for an AYCE sushi experience, this spot is pretty solid. I would go elsewhere for dimsum, but sushi here is a decent experience.

Firstly thanks to @august8 for this wonderful promotion! Free lunch! I so appreciate it! I gave a whooping rating of 4/5 stars !! Ambiance 4/5- I love that there are glass partitions in place . I felt safe good job on this one . Four stars coz it's a little cramp for my liking but it feels intimate also. I came with my mom and 2 kids. Taste 5/5- especially the salmon guys!!! It's a must try!! Off course who can go wrong with sushi? Right? The oil they used on the tempura seems to be fresh tasting. Customer Service -4.5/5 - Towards the end of our dining experience,it got slower..lol probably we ordered too much and they got tired with us? lol it's buffet (lol) ..but overall staff was friendly, refilling our water glasses even without us asking so that's a big plus Am I going back again? Definitely if I'm in the area,it's a bit far from me . . . But would recommend for sure

Everything seems fresh and appetizers taste decent but I do not recommend their sushi. The rice is tasteless and they are lazy at cutting the sushi pieces. Each sushi is about 1.5x wider than average sushi.

With Covid 19 precautions we decided to dine in Saterday evening.. Atmosphere and staff was freindly. quality of food in general was fair , I enjoyed green dragon roll mostly. I don't like sashimi virities and presentations al all my issue with their menu .. were the miss led on salmon winton tacos picture so, I ordered 6pcs , and hooooray 6 complete salmon tacos like mexican real tacos size came to me !!!! I appreciate that waiter / manager accept my rejection. 2nd issue with menue more than 40% is not available pictures! shrimp spring rolls was tooo thin and small cigarette size , I don't enjoy it at all. The green tea is not on the house ! as all what you can eat options their are few much better options than this place .

We've been here two times now and we're surprised both times. What I really like about August 8 is that you can get both dim sum and sushi. Do note however dim sum does tend to be heavy so I do feel that you do get full easily but I love that you can order as much as you want since I believed him some to be one of my favorite foods. The second time we came here, we did notice that there were new items such as their sushi Taco which was really good. This place has a huge selection of food with a very cravable dim sum dishes such as their char siu bao and tripe. And their sushi quality is very good for an all-you-can-eat restaurant. The only thing I would say is that it is kind of expensive and for two people on a weekend night you're looking at paying around $100. I would say it's more worth it if you go with more people or if you have a very large appetite. However we will probably visit again because the food is so good

Second visit to August 8 and it was just as good as my first visit. The service is prompt and attentive and they never forget any items when you order AYCE. The rolls are perfectly bite sized and easy to eat compared to some sushi restaurants where the rolls are hard to eat in one bite. The tenderloin and mushrooms and short ribs are delicious. Unique sushi tacos too! The salmon sashimi was excellent and fresh.

We visited August 8 for the first time last week. The restaurant is quite large, clean and nicely decorated. We had to wait about 5-10 minutes for a table at 1 p.m. on a weekday, which I took as a good sign! We were seated and our drink order was taken promptly. We perused the iPad and submitted our order. The food came out quickly and most of it tasted pretty good. It was fairly standard fare for an all-you-can-eat Japanese/dim sum restaurant. The teriyaki/teppanyaki chicken and beef dishes were a bit overcooked and dry, but the flavour was good. The soups were a bit bland, but not bad. The sweet and sour chicken roll was very tasty and so was the siu mai. The shrimp dumplings, wontons and tempura were all delicious and piping hot. The salmon belly was yummy. The main complaint we had though was that the pork dumplings we ordered were raw in the middle. I mean, COMPLETELY raw. The wrappers weren't really cooked either, which should have tipped me off right away. But I took a big bite and that's when I realized the whole thing was raw. I called a waiter over and showed him and he said "Oh yeah, that's definitely not cooked" and took it away. I told him not to bother bringing any more to replace them. That was the absolute last we heard of it, which I think was a big mistake. When you serve raw (lukewarm) ground pork to customers, I think there should be an apology at the very least. Perhaps this wasn't brought to the attention of the manager and maybe I should have done that, but I know if it was my restaurant I would have either discounted the bill or offered a small gift card for a future visit. All in all, it wasn't a bad meal, but the raw pork definitely left a bad taste in my mouth (literally and figuratively). I won't be rushing back to August 8 anytime soon.

We went there on a Sunday at 1pm and were told it would be a 45 minute. The girl Hostess seemed like she really hated her job . She gave us a table after 30min wait . a both at no time did she have any common sense that I was to big for a both and I would not fit . I even had to explain why I could not fit . They gave us a iPad to order that did not work seems to be a common issue with other reviewers . Tea cups were all chipped . Food came out fast but quality was not there . Hand rolls had lots of rice but little fish . That was the same for all the other suchi lots of rice . The wait staff were very nice We wont be back . We will just go to are regular at heart land .

Sushi was just okay. Rice was overly starchy. It's not as fresh as other sushi places in town. The shiu mai was great though.

I went on a weekday, they were really busy with take out orders and walk ins with people getting their frozen dim sums. The only downside is they no longer have dine in available which is fine, I usually just take it to go and either eat in the car or find a park nearby. The prices have gone up a little bit over the years but that's normal with previous pandemic and inflation. It's still decent. I would say it's still the cheapest and most affordable dim sum place you can find in the area. They have the usual shrimp dumplings, siu mais, sticky rice with pork, bbq buns and plenty of other variety. We got quite a bit for lunch and also picked up some frozen ones so I can get my dim sum fixed at home. Hands down, I would be back when I run out of frozen dim sum even if it means driving 1.5 hrs to get here.

Our table ordered: - [ ] Sui Mai - [ ] Vegetarian bean curd rolls - [ ] Steamed shrimp dumpling - [ ] Steamed shrimp rice rolls - [ ] Steamed barbecue pork rice rolls - [ ] Deep fried taro dumpling - [ ] Steamed Chicken feet in black bean sauce - [ ] Deep fried sticky pork dumpling The dim sum trolleys came out offering these dishes. Some of the items were served to us cold. The food was quite disappointing and many dishes were a miss for me. To clarify, imo the barbecue pork bits in the steamed rice rolls were really dry, deep fried taro dumplings were cold, skin on the chicken feet was undercooked. The server offered to bring a serving of hot deep fried sticky pork dumpling, which was refried and really chewy and dry. I have been to this restaurant on select special occasions for dinners when invited to attend. However, if given a choice, I would not recommend it for dim sum.

Conveniently located in the mall, it offers all the classic dim sum favourites in a welcoming and elegant setting, much like its downtown Toronto locations. We visited on the weekend for dim sum, and the menu had all the must-haves: steamed dumplings, BBQ pork buns, siu mai, and more. Everything was fresh, flavourful, and well-prepared. The atmosphere is refined yet comfortable, making it a great spot for both casual outings and special occasions. One big plus is the relatively short wait time if you arrive around 11 AM. If you're coming later, you might have to wait, but reservations can be made in advance by calling ahead; something that's not always an option at dim sum spots.

After about 15 minutes, our soup had still not arrived. The waitress asked if we had had our soup and we said no. The restaurant was moderately busy, but they were also processing a lot of takeout. After our soup we awaited for the two other dishes we had ordered. We found it quite cold in the restaurant. The tea we ordered soon got cold. One of our ordered dishes arrived for us to start. After about 10 minutes, I asked for the second dish to be served. It arrived about 10 minutes later. In the meantime, of course, the first dish was stone cold and not enjoyable to eat. The second dish was very good however quickly got cold. I have eaten at pearl several times and like their food very much. The dishes are well prepared fresh and very good. We were quite disappointed with our evening meal as the service was very slow. The room was very cold. Our food was good, however, getting cold soon after it was served. The atmosphere is bright and generally seating is comfortable, except for being quite cold near the window. The food is pricier than most other restaurants, but servings are generous.

We showed up a little after 10:00 on a recent Saturday morning and the place was already pretty full. The rice roll was packed with flavor and tender pieces of meat, while the congee fared equally well. And both dishes were enhanced considerably by a liberal application of the tableside chili oil.
