My feelings about Bernardi Audi of Natick are definitely ambivalent. The salesman, Daniel, was a charmer and very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about his product. But the manager completely blew his handling of my Infiniti trade in. Kelly's Blue Book suggested my Infiniti was worth $10,000, and I was prepared to sell it privately for close to that amount. When I told Bernardi I hoped to use my Infiniti as a trade in for part of the deal, the manager told me (without even inspecting my car) that he would give me $1,000 tops for it. I was shocked, and told him I could and would get more for it elsewhere. Days later he apologized said he had made a mistaken offer, and made me a second offer, closer to my original price, which I accepted because I didn't want to deal with the hassle of a private sale. The business manager made a big error on the contract, in our favor, which Daniel had to retract, to his embarrassment and our frustration and irritation. The cost of the car kept mounting. Part of the luxury package involved winter tires which are smaller than the summer tires, requiring a complete set of 4 wheels at an additional cost of almost $10,000. Of course I bought into the package because I live in New England and didn't want to endanger myself driving around icy roads with summer tires. Daniel told me they would store my wheels at Bernardi as a courtesy, which I accepted happily, because I'm just an inch over 5' tall and weigh less than 110 lbs, and the thought of lugging my wheels back and forth by myself seemed overwhelming. When I brought the Audi in to have the summer tires changed over to winter tires, the service manager told me there was a charge of almost $300 to store them! I was slightly outraged. My friend told me she buys only Lexus because her dealer washes her car for her any time she wants, as a courtesy, AND provides coffee and Continental breakfast. Little gestures like that count a great deal when you enter a long-term contract relationship, especially when you pay through the nose and give an arm and a leg for the privilege. I had been lead to believe that the package came with free courtesy storage, which doesn't seem to be much to ask for, after purchasing a luxury car which pretty much DEMANDS two complete set of wheels in order to be road worthy and safe. When I demurred over being charged to store the tires, telling the service manager I hadn't been informed about the extra charge, he generously waived the charge. I'm about to go back into Bernardi to have my winter tires changed over to summer tires. I hope there are no more unpleasant surprises, but after reading the inordinate number of negative comments on this board about how Bernardi handles their clients, I'm definitely going to be wary. The final thing which turned me off completely is Daniel told me repeatedly that I would receive an invitation to review my experience with Bernardi, and that even if I gave him top marks for his work, if I gave any other portion of my experience with Bernardi anything less than a 10 for excellence, Daniel would suffer personally. As I've described, I have no issue with Daniel, but there were definitely other areas of my dealings with Bernardi that were less than stellar, and left me feeling sour. Now I was being manipulated at the very least, actually blackmailed at worst. Needless to say, with that kind of sword hanging over my head, the review was never completed. read more
