Every Ace Hardware is independently owned but all of them share an excellent customer service and well trained employees. This one was not exception. We stopped to check out some of their plants, flowers and herbs and they had a very good selection of them. The prices were a bit higher than what you would get at Home Depot, Lowe's or Ocean State Job lot, but all the plants looked very healthy and big. Had never been to this Ace hardware but needed a repair for our mower and was referred here by manufacturer. Greeted immediately on entering store by young woman at checkout along with big smile, and quickly referred to service window. Was immediately acknowledged by young man in service center, who helped register the repair, then kindly offered and walked to my car to get mower, battery, charger out for repair. He was totally professional and kind! The best part was got a call next morning that mower was already repaired and ready for pickup! Worst part of entire process was my drive to shop......but will drive there anytime for great service.....even if it takes longer! Outstanding customer experience. This store was provided as an option to have a warranty repair on my electric lawn mower along with Lowes. After visiting Lowes and learning that they don't do the work but rather ship them out to have it done, I called Depault to confirm that they actually do the repairs. Jen took the call and confirmed they do repair work and guided me on what I needed to bring along with the mower. I dropped everything on a Sunday afternoon and she could not have been more pleasant doing the intake. I got a call on the following Tuesday evening from Morgan who had just completed the repair. He left me his cell phone for me to call him back. I picked the mower up on Wednesday. No charge for the warranty work. This was a first class customer experience - can't recommend them highly enough. read more

As a professional plumber, I appreciate a good, locally-owned hardware store. Hardware stores have saved my butt at least a half-dozen times over my plumbing career. That's because they serve as a backup plumbing supply house, if you happen to be working in an area that has no plumbing supply companies nearby. Such was the situation I found myself in today. I was in Cumberland, rebuilding a customer's toilet, and discovered I lacked the correct tank-to-bowl gasket. There are about a half-dozen varieties of this gasket, to fit different brands of toilets, and ironically, the one I lacked was the most common type. I try to keep the truck well-stocked, but sometimes you get busy and things fall through the plumber's crack. Fortunately for me and my customer, Depault Ace Hardware was practically around the corner. It's located in a large plaza (with some impressive commercial tenants), with plenty of parking. I was cheerfully greeted by a cashier as soon as I walked in, and had hardly taken three steps when another employee asked me what I was looking for, then directed me to the plumbing section. Although I was focused on plumbing, the store looked neat and well-stocked in other areas, and had an impressive-looking service counter, with rows and rows of key blanks that would make a locksmith shop envious (key cutting is just one of a myriad of services they offer). Anyway, back to my mission. Initially, I did not see the type of tank-to-bowl gasket I was looking for, and grew increasingly frustrated, both visibly and audibly. I was about to give up, when a woman walking by asked me what I was looking for; although she did not have a uniform or name tag, she clearly knew the store well, and found the exact gasket I was looking for on a merchandise peg I had overlooked. I don't know if she was an owner of the store, but she clearly displayed excellent customer service and saved the day. read more

I'm not a professional,but every time I step into this particular hardware store, I'm greeted hello by the cashier, they help me load the birdfood, they load the mulch right into the back seat of my car & yesterday my favorite helper found me Bounce dryer sheets---That way I didn't have to make another stop. Depault repaired my out-of-warranty Husqvarna chainsaw twice - both times quickly and inexpensively. The first time there was a trigger issue, and the second time I needed my bar replaced. As certified Husqvarna dealers, they see a lot of Husky chainsaws, and it shows. They didn't do any unnecessary work, and their turnaround time was fast. I haven't bought anything from the hardware part of the store (yet), but the repair shop is great. read more

I rarely write a negative review but somethings need to be said. We dropped off a window screen to be repaired. When we picked it up, 4" razor gouges were immediately seen on both sides! I showed one rep who just walked away as he was meeting a customer outside. We paid $20 and called the manager on the way home. She wanted us to drive back and show her but we had another appointment to keep. We sent photos and awaited an apology and the reassurance it would not happen next time. Unfortunately no apology was offered. No reassurance. Never in my 40 years of work would I consider submitting such terrible work. I would have been fired. One scratch is an accident. Two gouges is an insult. They lost my trust and support. We did not request any refund. They offered to paint the frame but paint on aluminum in the outdoors would not last nor match the window. I try to support local businesses but I wish they cared about workmanship just a little. Yes, Wolverine needs employment but perhaps he is better suited in a different dept. read more

Local and convenient. The staff are knowledgeable and eager to help you find what you need. Yeah they may not have everything, and you'll pay a little more than a big box store, but it's close by, and the advice of the staff will probably save you money in the long run keeping you from buying the wrong thing in the first place. Most big box store staff can't do more than point you to an isle. Here they'll ask you what you're doing and recommend a specific item for the task. You're also far more likely to leave here with good quality products, vs ones that will have you going back for replacements because they were junk or just wore out quickly.
